  1. ubuntu isnt bad and kubuntu is basicly the same as ubuntu except it uses ked instead of gnome admitedly ubuntu 6.06 is alot slower than 5.04 mepis uses kde and i want gnome without having to download a copy

  8. well actually about resource hog it depends on curtain distributions ubuntu 5.04 runs fine but ubuntu 6.06 uses more resources but my copy of mandrake 10.2 is just terible. the proboem with the kernel sources is that they are 30mb or so and i have a stupid download limit (grrrr)

  12. i have to dissagree with linux resource hog, have you ever tried using mandrake 10.2 with KDE and looked ate the memory useage. I only had about 50mb of my 256mb of ram (98se was released in 1999)

  15. true but the problem is that the nvidia supplied drivers need kernel sources and the compiler for it. but this thread is one of those annoying threads that get locked eventually just like the why run 98 thread which reached 20 pages before it was locked
  16. i find linux a bit slow and has buggy support for nvidia video cards 98se just works

  21. i agree the version i tried of reactos was a bit unstable but it was fast and small which was good back to the idea of open sourcing 9x you could just decompile some of the major parts of the os like kernel32.dll ntdll.dll shell32.dll gdi32.dll user32.dll advapi32.dll where many missing apis for programs are needed
  22. isnt the browseui from w98 different sizes to that of xp so you need to ask tihiy or install rp which has 32bit icons
