  1. USB Support does "somewhat" exist, in spite of your assertion. Do try googling occasionally. http://alter.org.ua/en/docs/win/nt4_usb/
  2. Well, my (nunyabiz ) runs just fine. Bootup and shutdown time is strictly related to any Services -or- additional software (eg Real-Time AV or "replaced" Firewall). A "raw" 2K3 and -only- MS Updates along with the "workstation" tweaks (including disabling all unnecessary Services) makes it run (nearly) EXACTLY like XP. Pointertovoid, you are doing something wrong. Win2K3 "experts" are here, it's just that there are few of them and "aooarently" they know enough all on their own so the lack of Win2K3 topics are few and far between. -IF- you decide to use it, -THEN- ask questions in new Topics and bets are up, you'll get accurate answers.
  3. ??? So, you're experiencing the above failure, incomplete/corrupt files due to interrupted internet connection? If not, then what's the problem? edit - AH! I see the "problem". WUD doesn't use Checksums so it's unknown if any given download worked properly. An excerpt from an UL <updates> <update id="KB2809289" category="1" publishdate="2013-03-12" article="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809289"> <title>Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 in Windows XP (KB2809289)</title> <description>Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a computer running Microsoft Internet Explorer and gain control over it.</description> <filename>IE8-WindowsXP-KB2809289-x86-ENU.exe</filename> <url>http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/E/B/2EBBCB78-CB4F-4B0E-868E-FC879DA3436F/IE8-WindowsXP-KB2809289-x86-ENU.exe</url>This would require a change to both WUD and how the UL is constructed. Not sure if the Developer is interested in the "fix" or not, since it would "break" using any other older UL's, unless a check is made for a Checksum field, in which case the problem would still exist. Please note -many- older UL's exist and haven't been updated for a while.HTH
  4. Ummm.... That's VERY off-topic. This topic is SPECIFICALLY about getting WAIK tools WITHOUT downloading the full ISO and NOT "how to make a WinPE". Please make another Topic or do a Search in the appropriate Sub-Forum. Thank you.
  5. Curiosity - WHAT is the name of said "64K DLL"? FYI - that's a Windows-Only BIOS and there is -probably- another file (somewhere) that uses said "64K DLL", so the actual BIOS is embedded "elsewhere" and will no doubt be -extremely- difficult (if at all) to extract. Also you -are- aware that Phoenix also (now) produces AMI and AWARD BIOS, right? All (the later/latest) are made by Phoenix now.
  6. HUH? Windows Update? Up to and including the past Patch Tuesday? I thought that had been made clear.
  7. Not necessarily (i.e. -totally-) accurate - http://confidentialfiles.wordpress.com/2010/09/07/a-historic-manuscript-differences-between-windows-xp-and-windows-server-2003/ HTH
  8. OK, but... 1024x600 seems to be an "odd" (nonstandard) resolution. edit - here is some info (apparently the EEE is of this type?) - http://www.ebay.com/gds/How-Important-is-Screen-Resolution-when-Buying-A-Tablet-/10000000177629444/g.html I google a lot, so this resolution "1024x600"yielded the above link.
  9. Try a little Google flash "windows 95" site:msfn.orghtml5 "windows 95" site:msfn.org HTH
  10. Implications? "Same as it ever was" XP not= 9x, so there are IMHO no "implications" as 9x is what it is ATM. No change in status whatsoever.
  11. OK, but ...how? (note that I also use 800x600 as a general rule)
  12. Well, now I'm curious. Do you occasionally empty your "Temp" and "Temporary Internet" folders occasionally, or do you just let them "fill up"? Go find, download, install, and run CCleaner. The "Temp" folder(s) is another story. Also be aware the you MAY be using the Public folder contents as well, filling its "Documents" folder needlessly.
  13. Cross-posting the RootCert stuff brought up by another member - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171532-an-xp-update-observation/ Note that RootCerts is an "Optional" MS Component found in the Add/Remove Windows Components as well.
  14. REALLY confused Update check! You're also aware of a KB for Revoking Root Certificates, right? It also has a date "slightly newer" than the Nov2013 RootCerts but "slightly older" than the Mar2014 RootCerts. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2917500 Something's goofy about Win/MS Update site. edit - and oddly enough, there's an OLDER RVKROOTS KB here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2728973 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30281
  15. I don't get it either. What has been said applies. You can even run (OMG) games that require XP. The point is, even though a given software SAYS XP, it will ALSO (probably) run on 2003. Stipulation - NORMALLY true, but some vendors (e.g. Symantec, O&O) intentionally (did) make separate Workstation and Server versions to charge different prices. Also what jaclaz said above re: "freeware". Now, to specifically Spybot/Malwarebytes - absolutely will install and run.
  16. Didn't say it didn't work. Said it "hung" on the "Windows" progress bar. I'm not on XP ATM, but a "variation" (nunya biz ) "unpatched/updated" (latest SP), so that may be why it just kept being "progressive". FF12 and (whatever version of) Seamonkey is not the same, even though (AFAIK) the "root" code is the same. JS...
  17. There are already threads that indicate which Opera and FF run on 9x - 98SE I believe (unsure about ME). This is not the appropriate topic to ask in - this topic is "But why?". Go look for them. Also there is KernelEX.
  18. OK, this is wack! FF12 and stuck in booting into Windows (the blue progress bar). What a ploy! Go to an IE11-compatible OS (think Windows 8) because "We killed IE6 and XP". (sigh...)
  19. 1 - Yes - same codebase as XP 2 - Yes Many services need to be turned off and/or not selected for install. Otherwise, same - it's a "Super" XP Professional.
  20. Lots of XP EOS threads going around. JS... Lord help the one that connects them together and separates the useful parts from the "other" parts.
  21. Hmm... I think your link refers to 2008, correct? Here's the 2003 links - http://www.msfn.org/board/links/link/2-how-to-convert-your-windows-server-2003-to-a-workstation/ http://www.msfn.org/win2k3/ I have happily enjoyed several of the additional "features".
  22. Hmmm... I would take that up with nuhi if I were "us". After all, it's call "whatever2009", well after XP-proper began. The point is, that -if- the base code is the same -then- those fixes -might- apply to XP-proper. Call them "Unofficial Updates" TBD. How many here -do- have POS Ready 2009? One, that I know of. Anyone else willing to help out?
  23. I'm assuming -X- is working on it now. Please note that this link: http://xdot.tk/updates.html currently redirects to: http://xdot.tk/ which indicates (to me) that a "new" page of latest will be forthcoming. HTH edit - Don't bother with original link. -X- has changed the website and the link in his signature. Oh, and -X- has the latest ("last"?) one completed. "Mission Accomplished"
  24. Use Google "ei.cfg" "windows 7"for info on that. This definitely works on ENU, not sure about Danish. Fact: My Professional OEM (Refurbish) has all Editions on it. There should be five "install_Windows 7 <EDITION-NAME>.clg" files in the same folder.I don't want to go any further with this. I gave you the info and search terms. I leave it to you to check it out as I have no desire to download approx. 6gb(+/-) of two Danish Pro ISO's to check for you. HTH and C-ya!
