  1. my input: taskmaneger: everyone can use to get to their files, it dose however use quite alot of ram for such little. cmd.exe: some users may not be very comfortable with usage, hard to get to files if you do not know were they are, easy to use once familerized with. windows explorer: taskbar mode: everyone knows it, but withought a theme it could use better looks. explorer mode: is easy to get around with and open files, dosent realy offer a task killer if a program/game frezes also lacks system control(shutdown,restart,logoff) out of all thos areas to look at i would go wtih taskmaneger for a defualt and make it realy easy to switch to the users choice. also be aware thos arent the only shells on this platform. there are free, well supported alternatives. some i could say run better then explorer.
  2. why not support them all? it is possible to switch shells only by the registry, atleast in norm xp, dont know about xpe tho.
  3. well i think a checksum generator would be usefull here basicly, convert image to whatever format convert the image back to the same format it was in compare the two checksums that might do it, however i realy see no point to it if you cant tell the diffrence
  4. my personal idea is if it can go behind something then it will. also in some cases rounded cables may not be the greatest idea, flat and grey ones can do the job just as well if not better in some cases. there are other ways too but most of the time it is very related to the case you have.
  5. yah im curious of a few things: is firefox supported? i see your runing opera so i would asume it works? im sure lots wana know this: dose steam work? and something i hope: dose nlite/ any other .NET apps still run in this windows?
  6. word is more then just a story writer, much more. i even admit that i have absoulutly no clue what most of its features do. however i give microsoft NO mercy when it comes to this, i lost a six page essay due to the factt that word blew up in my face when i hit save. this being on a computer that is reimaged daily(it is equvialent in every way possible with the other 600 computers at my high school) i think that this is something ms plans to have happen, why? i only have the theroy, when ms plans to realse a new version of a software code in their older software makes that software carsh when it origanly would not have, thus forceing users in a way to upgrade
  7. dont trust software voltage moniters, more commen then not they are very wrong. if you want a good reading just pick up a digital multimeter at radio shack or somewhere for 5$ the yellow wires are 12v and the red ones are 5v i think black = ground if you have further questions feel free to ask.
  8. quite simalerly to a cd drive finding loop this can be done with a single line: FOR %%i IN (C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z) DO IF EXIST %%i:\* dir %%i: /b >> %systemdrive%\listforme.txt: *all on one line this puts the output in the file listforme.txt on your main drive, beware this will also list the contents of cds and floppys if you have them in their drives at the time. if you dont want that remove the drive letter from the parentheses
  9. no there is not however you should be able to in most cases use %userprofile%\My Documents\ note: to get a list of enviroment variables type set into a command prompt
  10. search the forums for cbin, its a nice program that will compres it so that windows setup likes it, then just plop it in your i386 folder
  11. it is a waste of space, however it can be removed with nlite.
  12. i dont think anyone can veiw a wireless cameras view, maybe if it is a realy old and nonsecure system. but then you would have to know the software too. id say google is your frind here

  15. something to worry about is a generic psu, espesialy a low power one. i would upgrade that BEFORE getting a new videocard something usefull would be the amperage ratings on the rails, 3.3v 5v 12v i would highly recomend getting a new psu.
  16. some inportant info that could help: is this a prebuilt pc or did you build it yourself? if you built it did you use a stock cooler? if you did not build it check your manufacturers site for info most of the time if you built it the motherboard comes with info on this.
  17. i did play it, back in about june 05, however it kinda just died. the fact that when your playing with your freind its only your freinds is kinda a killer. for me atleast
  18. just about the only thing 90mm should do is reduce power consumption, it would also make more yeilds posible but this is canceled out buy the fact that they need all new machinery to make the chips. it dose not give a preformance increase buy just that the fact that they can put more transistors on the chip
  19. somehow i dought that they are stoping production of thos cards, they still preform great and probably are still selling realy well. i think it would be a little akword have only 7900's but if nvidia feels that strongly about it, i better see some great preformance from it!

  21. in the unattended section there is a administrator tab, select auto logon from that. i would highly recomend you use nlite to do all the customazation of your cd, if you have problems just ask somebody, after searching first.
  22. just use nlite to stop the oobe interface from showing up, its that easy.
  23. well you could try another method here: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/29/ i use the copying over via $oem$ way however this could also be failing if you do not have a internet conection at the time of first boot. i belive in nlite there is a option to skip the oobe on first logon too.
  24. some easy searching reaveals: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/36/ you can do it with nlite too. just point it twoard the floppy you would normaly insert durring textmode setup for the drivers
  25. have a look at installrite, it can generate msi files i belive.
