make sure that virtual pc is the active application and that you arent doing anything else iv seen it take up to 1 hour for the pc to boot winxp but if its selected it happens in about 1 minute -
if you want greatest budget venice 3000+ is best i got it and i say its very nice iv got it at 2.2ghz rock stable 24/7 here but most people belive that the 3200+ can get higher, i would have to agree with what iv seen them doing

Whitch programs do you want to install?
spazmire11 replied to markg85's topic in Application Installs
search for something called wpi im sure thats what you want -
well i think this might work but: maybe you could sfx the entire program folder then capture the registrys then put the sfx in place of paint.ex_ on the cd in compresed form? then add the regestrys in like runonceex script or wpi i think that may work but it may not be so fast or good
-
well theres a msi of it so i think you should just stick to silent install.
-
well other prouducts form future mark are good too look into aquamark 3 its still decent other than that i cant think of much

and he is very right some s478 mobos dont support prescots if you had a lot of time on your hands you could get that 475.5 pin proc working but thats alot of effort just get a new motherboard like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131464 this is one of the better motherboards from what i have heard
-
so you have a prebuilt computer that you put the new proc in right? if so the manufacturer may have used a proprietery cooling method, this would be bad the reason the hsf is so hot is because it is not to take all of that heat you havent fried your prescot tho since i belive there is thermal throughtaling on the chip however you NEED a better hsf since your current bracket dose not fit a new hsf i recomend you get a new hsf maybe a xp-90 its like 40 bucks and is a very nice hsf however you may have other problems look for a bios update too this may help with any compatiblaty issues
-
well if your heatsink is extreamily hot then i will asume you havce a prescot core p4 in witch case your motherboard may not support it as it sounds like thats whats happening also you may want to look for a new heatsink because apperently your current one is not good enough for the prescots increased heat output may i recomend a xp-90 or xp-90c heatsink these are very good ones i have the copper version and when i touch it it dosent even feel warm! you may want to try a bios update to and see if theres a fix fothatsr your board otherwise you may need a new one
-
using a resorce hacker(reshacker) just pop open your kernal normaly called ntkrnpa.exe and image 1 should be just blacknes add your logo here anywere you want then save it in and vola be warned tho this could make a unbootable systam as i have not tryed the proces myself
-
yep you have to be special and have that, sorta like me!

Auto frag at the end of installation
spazmire11 replied to Grake's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
is there a way to moniter what drive is being defraged with thos scripts? cause what i was thinking is if someone was watching there computer or accidently left the moniter on wouldent it be nice to have a screensave bouncing around the words "curently defragmenting the X drive." on the screen? maybe there would be a way to make a status indacatere apper below it but i dont know if thats posible i could code it in vb but i dont know how thos scripts would act: are all the drives defraged at once or is it all linear meaning c drive defrags the d drive then e... if its linear then could i just have a timer control runing the words around the screen taking from the strdrive variable? any help on this would be nice -

I installed a stick of 1gb pc3200 only 512detected
spazmire11 replied to jca2004's topic in Windows XP
you canont have dual channel with two different sizes of ram! if you put them in it just wont run in that mode how many ram slots are there on the mobo? if theres only two try swaping the 1gb and 512 stick and see if that works -
well if apps start off of it yes do a check for spyware, viruses, ect... you could try updating drivers if you realy wana be faster but it may not be much faster
-
just a combo of a good portion of all of them dose the trick for me
