  1. so i found this for alcohol 120 Alcohol 120 Alcohol can be installed and registered doing the following Use Switch: /qn copy and paste to create regfile: CODE Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120%\Info] "UserName"="yourusername" "Company"=" yourcompany" "SerialNo"="yourserialno." but does anyone know how to silently do an "advanced installation" meaning change the names of the drivers? any help will be greatly appreciated =)
  2. i used an XP home full retail disk. ill attempt to not put anything... but i thought the popup was the reason i tried putting in the autoactive command in the first place... we'll see and this is for a backup emachines computer, not dell. But i do use the dell computer to create the winnt because the emachines computer has been formatted a lot recently. altho i will check out that forum for my dell computer which i plan to format next. thanks again!
  3. ok. so here i am with my cd. ive tried 2 methods (and over 20 cds) all i want is the comptuer to create the default user admin account to Trevor instead of "Owner" first i tried the OOBEINFO.INI method... it created the user account, but didnt follow my winnt commands. with the UnattendSwitch set to No, it does create the account, BUT it asks me about display settings, automatic updates, and doesnt automatically login to the account. heres my WINNT for this first way [Data] AutoPartition = 0 MsDosInitiated = 0 UnattendedInstall = Yes AutomaticUpdates = Yes [Unattended] AutoActivate = Yes UnattendMode = FullUnattended OemSkipEula = Yes OemPreinstall = Yes TargetPath = \WINDOWS Repartition=No FileSystem = * WaitForReboot = No UnattendSwitch = No NoWaitAfterTextMode = 1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode = 1 KeyboardLayout="US" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword = * EncryptedAdminPassword = No OEMSkipRegional = 1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1 AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 [UserData] ProductKey = xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName = Trevor OrgName = Home ComputerName = COMPUTER1 [Display] ConfigureAtLogon = 1 InstallDriver = 0 BitsPerPel = 16 XResolution = 800 YResolution = 600 VRefresh = 60 AutoConfirm = 1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup = MSHOME [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents = Yes [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended = Yes [URL] Home_Page = http://www.google.com [IEPopupBlocker] BlockPopups = No FilterLevel = Low ShowInformationBar = Yes [Components] msmsgs = off msnexplr = off zonegames = off [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\Drivers\Drivers.cmd as you can see, i have all the required answers in the file, but it still asks me for them for some reason. SO I TRIED ANOTHER WAY. with the Unattended Switch set to Yes, i can bypass the display setting screens, autoupdate screen, etc, BUT i cannot get it to create the user account with my name. even if i use cmd lines (this is all in the $OEM$ folder btw) it doesnt work [COMMANDS] "useraccounts.cmd" with useraccounts.cmd net user Trevor /add net localgroup Administrators "Trevor" /add net localgroup Administrators "Owner" /delete net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited REGEDIT /S autologon.reg EXIT and autologon.reg [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="Trevor" "DefaultPassword"="" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" still doesnt work. it creates my account, but still logs on to the Owner account. im getting kinda frusterated because i cant solve this even though i look thru the forums and find possible solutions but they dont work. ex: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...909entry80909 in addition, both methods ask me if i want to activate windows.... *sigh* thanks for any input you guys have on this it feels like im stuck between a rock and hard place
  4. yes, i am using the cd key from the back of the computer. i dont get why its not working.. so strange. i am using a dell computer to make the cd, but the OS i used to create it is just a standard microsoft XP cd.
  5. allright ill try copying those and see if it happens to fix itself somehow thanks ^^ EDIT: still not working... i really dont get it at all =/
  6. haha ive been doing everything manually this looks a lot easier.. but im pretty much done already haha thanks for your help EDIT: but i still kinda want to figure out how to finish it manually i mean.. it cant be that complicated right? hopefully someone will know... i actually dont want to start eth whole process over..
  7. allright ill try that.. maybe with a lil help? ^^ theres just so many different ways to do this, im trying to minimize the level of confusion by using as little methods as possible so nlite... hopefully ill be able to figure out how to do this yea.... actually i need some help on that.. how do i find the commands to just stop the oobe interface from showing up?
  8. i actually have the WPA.DBL file in $OEM$\$$\system32... and when i want to activate it does it fine. but basically, all i want is that thing not to pop up. i actually dont care if it activates or not. i just want my computer to stop asking me if i want to activate windows during my "silent" installation! after 18 times it should know i dont careat this point! >.<
  9. AutoActivate = No ... AutoActivate = Yes? ok so ive searched the forums for hours and spent endless hours making this unattended installation cd this last part i just cannot figure out ive tried placing AutoActivate=No as well as AutoActivate=Yes in the [unattended] section of my winnt.sif file. but i consistently get the windows product activation "Do you want to activate windows now?" stopping my installation. i got the command straight from http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/19/ (the winnt reference section) and it doesnt work hopefully one of u smart people can help me complete my cd by fixing this! thanks! heres my winnt for reference [Data] AutomaticUpdates=0 AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] AutoActivate=No UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS FileSystem=* UnattendSwitch="Yes" WaitForReboot="No" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\01-chipset;Drivers\02-pcisoftmodem;Drivers\03-ethernet;Drivers\04-video;Drivers\05-video" NoWaitAfterTextMode=1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode=1 [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=No OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1 AutoLogon = Yes [UserData] ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName="Trevor" OrgName="Home" ComputerName=COMPUTER1 [Display] ConfigureAtLogon=0 BitsPerPel=16 XResolution=800 YResolution=600 VRefresh=60 AutoConfirm=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=MSHOME [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=http://www.google.com [IEPopupBlocker] BlockPopups=No FilterLevel=Low ShowInformationBar=Yes [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off zonegames=off [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\Drivers\Drivers.cmd
  10. aiite well the RVM integrator and all those forums confused me even more but im going to try and work with the switches and search for ones for some of less known apps hopefully all will go well =)
  11. thanks for being my 1 reply =) ill be sure to check it out - im always open to trying new things to make my lif easier =D
  12. heres the story~ i got to digg.com and see this awesome article for an "unattended windows xp install" "SWEET" i proclaim! i make a working XP unattended installation cd. awesome i come get to drivers and applications and... i start to get owned all these switches confused a noobie like me i spent hours tried creating a batch files and run once ex cmds but found a lot of trouble with programs that no one else had and customizing...etc. etc. but being persistent like i am, i found InstallRite and thought id be set since i just had to install programs, create new EXEs, and then could reinstall on another computer by just clicking on the EXE... but the problem lies in the fact that directories are SET. everything and anything you do is exactly the same as what you did the first time.. meaning.. when i tested the install on a different computer, a whole new user was created (even on a different partition since that first computer installed winxp on the D:/ instead of C:/ after i formatted it) (i also tried extracting the InstallRite EXEs to edit file directories possibly, but it says "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged") id really really really like to be able to install my apps silently and on more than one computer. so my question is, whats the easiest way to accomplish my goal? the scripting and swatches are very confusing to me because they are very individualized for each program and i cant find or figure out what swatches to use for a handful of my apps (or how to customize them) if someone could give me some direction into how i should spend my time - either learning swatches (hopefully with some help) or looking for a new program similar InstallRite - id really appreciate it -Trevor
