  1. I use a desktop computer. I whish I had a laptop though...
  2. Here's my recipe: Install WinXP+SP2. Then install Symantec Corp. AV 10 or NOD32 as your AV, Sygate Firewall Pro 5.5.2170 and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE 1.06. I can guarantee you your PC will be a fortress. This is my recipe for over 10 years now(a good AV+FW+anti-spyware), and never had to deal with a virus/keylogger/etc...
  3. RegCleaner 4.3.0.780 This is one of the best registry cleaning utilities. I'm using it for a loooooooong time now and had no troubles at all. Never had to install Windows more than once per version.
  4. Nope. I want WinFS sooo bad. Until then, Win2k3 works for me.
  5. Windows Classic for me. I don't like those memory-consuming GUIs.
  6. You don't have to google for anything, just follow this link: http://www.msfn.org/win2k3/xpgames.htm
  7. Right now my Win2k3 Server runs for over an year now without any problems. No virii, no spyware...no nothing. Runs like a fresh install.
  8. Funny post KernelOverlord. debian-based distros such as Xandros, Knoppix, Mepis, K/Ubuntu are pretty easy. All you have to know are 3-4 commands and use it in console: install program: apt-get install program remove program: apt-get remove program upgrade distro: apt-get dist-upgrade update sources.lst: (this command must be executed AFTER new locations are added to sources.lst. This is done if you need newer version of a program) apt-get update As you can see it's pretty simple.
  9. It will make you buy a new faster PC.
  10. 32MB RAM is very little. You need at least 128MB. I've seen a PC with 64MB RAM but it was very slow. None the less, you could try: go to Win98 interface, disable all services you don't need and...it might work. P.S. Why don't you install Win98SE on that machine?
  11. Wait a sec bob. What you are saying is "if I have to update a piece of my software I can't do it with your "AV" ON, but OFF?" What's the point then of having this "wonder of technology" if you will get infected while the "shield is down". Then I'll bring up "the shield" and it will detect...let's say a couple of vital files of my apps infected. It will delete the infected files and my OS will stop working!!! What then? Who will I sue for loosing a lot of money 'cause my server(s) down??? Think a bit kid...it's not easy. Right now, my network is secured behind a Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.5.2710 and I run Symantec AV Corp. NOTHING can pass through whitout ME knowing it. Can YOU provide the same security?
  12. Sorry to dissapoint you bob, but you're just selling crap. I don't believe a word you're sayin'. There's no BEST AV software out there...and you wanna know why? 'cause you're not the smartest on the planet. There's always others that can beat your software. You say your "AV" has no definition files or virus signatures. How do you detect a virus? Reading the binary code you say, right? What if someone designs a program/routine from if&then a couple of times 'cause it needs to replace something in a database, what's your 'AV" gonna do? Delete the program? C'mon kid...wake up, this is the real world. Matrix was in 1999 in theaters.
  13. You can use process explorer as task manager very well, with no risk at all. I use it on my second PC and never had a problem with it.
  14. You can re-install Win2k3 TRIAL with the SAME serial after the 180 days have passed.
  15. You can see only FAT32 partition from MS-DOS. NTFS partition can be accessible with a live-CD system as BartPE.
  16. Take a look here: http://web.archive.org/web/20041129084550/.../servicecfg.htm
  17. http://www.topshareware.com/Macallan-Mail-...nload-11308.htm Is this what you need?
  18. I advise you to install it on a separate HDD to test it. It's too buggy yet.

    WinACE, WinRAR, WinZIP.
  21. I've never heard of Sybari before. The first AV company Microsoft bought was GeCAD - a Romanian AV company, which designed AV solution mainly for the linux platform.
  22. I use Winamp 2.90 for playing music and BSPlayer for video.
  23. Here's the HOW-TO: http://www.petri.co.il/windows_2003_sp1_slipstreaming.htm Enjoy!
  24. Gee...I wasn't sure, but that's...you!
  25. How many partitions do you have? If you have 2 (C & D) move everything that you want (music, movies, personal files) from C to D. Then insert WinXP CD in the drive, reboot and let the PC to boot from WinXP CD. Click NEXT where required until you get to a screen where it shows your partitions. Select C and the option to format the partition using NTFS file system. And from then on just click on next -> next ->next.
