  1. First it goes to this address: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us then it's redirected to the one mentioned above. I scanned my PC with Spybot S&D, MS Antispyware, Ad-Aware SE Pro and found nothing. P.S. It seems that v6 of WU is beta and that's why I get redirected to v4.
  2. Sorry, but in Win2k3 is as I wrote it.
  3. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...4c87b0727e.mspx http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/Articl...9893/39893.html http://www.ilopia.com/Articles/WindowsServer2003/Backup.aspx
  4. I did, but it keeps going to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/thanks.asp I'm affraid not to miss any critical patches issued by Microsoft. I hope I don't.
  5. What's wrong with it? Everythime I click on windows update it goes to: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/thanks.asp? Where it says: I have to say the other day when I clicked on WU it went to the same page, but in the system tray appeared an icon similar with that of WinXP Security center and when I clicked on it, it installed some hotfixes. What's up with that?
  6. Here there are:http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?st=b&na=88&View=en-us&qu=Security+Update+for+Windows+XP+64+Bit+Edition Beware, there are a lot of 'em.
  7. I only use 2 partitions: 1 for Windows (10GB) and 1 for DATA (150GB). I grouped everything in folders: \movies \music \software \games \mydocuments (this is NOT the folder created by Windows) ...and that's it.
  8. I like ALL FRUITS! Where do I vote?

  10. I installed SP1 also and works great.
  11. It depends what you do most of the time: if you like games/themes/sfuff like that => windows xp. If you do a lot of programing&stuff => Windows Server 2003. Themes can be used in Windows Server 2003 also, but...I don't like 'em. P.S. Longhorn transformation packs/ sidebars & stuff are memory eaters.
  12. I come from an Windows-based background. I started first with MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. Last year I tried my first linux distro named Knoppix 3.3. I liked it, but I didn't LOVE it as Windows. When I use Windows I feel like a fish in the water, when I use linux...I'm just bored. For me, linux is much simpler than Windows. Of course, compiling the kernel is not a very easy task, but easy enough, esspecially with the 2.6.x version. The only thing I don't like about linux is the lack of good drivers, but then again, this is not community's fault but the producer's, esspecially ATi. I hope that will change and I hope this threads of Widows RULZ/Linux SUX and viceversa will dissapear once and for all.
  13. I've been using Symantec Corporate AV since v8, now I'm using v10 and I love it. This is the one for me. I've tried NOD32 and I liked that too...

  15. Yes xian7479, firefox is much better than maxthon. In the end, it all comes down to taste.
  16. I prefer the "drive letter" way. Call me "old fashion" but I do. I can find my way around on a windows-based system as well as a *nix-based system. I'd like Windows to have a journalised file system, such as ReiserFS4. I guess WinFS will be something like that.
  17. Would you be kind to post your solution here. Maybe there are others who need your solution.
  18. Now, I own a good ol' AMD Barton 2500+, 512MB RAM and "the piece de la resistance": ATi Radeon 7500 64MB SDRAM. For the moment it's enough for me. I'm waiting for the 64bit software to pop-up real good and then I'm gonna buy an AMD64 desktop.
  19. That's what Linus Torvalds chose.
  20. I use Nero 6.6.0.13 for CD/DVD burning and Daemon Tools for loading CD images.
  21. I can asure you, you won't be dissapointed. ME? That's a bad joke, not an OS.
