  1. This new metro-apps are for retards, if you ask me. Sinofsky definitely has some childhood issues, probably because his mom didn't let him play with cubes and now his sticking his **** cubes down our throats. Sinofsky, wake the heck up, it's a **** nightmare!
  2. Shaun Aston - Open your heart [chill out music]
  3. I loved Win 3.11 for workgroups and win95 osr2. I used to run Win98SE until XP got service pack 1. Those were the days editing autoexec.bat, config.sys for increased performance.
  4. Windows 8 SUX! Plain and simple! The productivity is ZERO. The "tile home screen" is for phones NOT for PC! Sinofsky has a PC at home? It seems not...
  5. Hello every1! I have to say I like Win8 so far...I'd like though some improvements here and there...
  6. Maybe you inserted Windows 7 RC/BETA DVD and that's why it said "it's an older version", otherwise it's pretty simple: insert your Windows 7 Ultimate DVD and choose UPGRADE.
  7. Why the f*ck is doing microsoft un-slipstream-able service packs? Who's the id*** in the MS team with this dumb idea? First no classic menu in win7, now un-slipstream-able service packs? :realmad:
  8. It's easy:USER ACCOUNTS and on the left side of the picture is an entry named CHANGE YOUR PICTURE. START -> Run -> RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL nusrmgr.cpl
  9. Did you try clearing the registry with CCleaner and see what happens?
  10. I always use a clean install. It takes me 2 hours to install everything (including the OS) but I can spare that much time. Windows 7 build 7057 is now "available". It expires on march the 1st 2010.
  11. I have no "extra" click to get to the flyout menu. simply move the mouse just like in xp and vista. How do you figure there is one more click to get to the classic flyout menu? And also, the "new" method is more than just one click. It is one click, scroll, scroll. And if you don't want to scroll scroll scroll, you have to take your hands off your mouse and actually type and as you type get "guesses" in return, and often presented with many options that are not even related to the place you are going. classic menu, one click, move mouse, last click. Very fast. And the human eye is already "looking" for what the end user is on the monitor, so having the "full" view from classic, items are easy to spot, instead of scrolling the all programs in that little window. And let's not forget movement memory pattern as that because habit and so ingrained into a users experience that everything becomes second nature. And when that has been the nature for 15+ years.. well... I will stop here. My point is, there is absolutely no extra clicking involved with the work around I found was referring to the "classic" menu workaround posted in the link. not the actual classic menu of 95/2000/xp. even if it opens by mouse-hover, who wants their classic menu back that far away on the screen from the corner. besides, for me, most of the commonly apps are already in the top 8. i have no need to go start--> programs --> look for apps. i can go to start --> app. besides, with a scroll wheel, searching for an app is not a chore as it's made out to be. why don't people just use a mac/linux instead of flaming this forum with useless complaints about windows and microsoft - which is what the forum is form. Thanks for the link. I gave linux and macs as an example. I used 'em for a while and found 'em BOORING, that's why I prefer Windows. LE: After renaming Documents to Programs you must restart the PC, otherwise the folder freezes.
  12. I think the worst OS was Windows ME and Windows Vista. Because they try to much being something they are not. On the other hand, the best versions of Windows were 98 SE, 2000 SP4, WinXP SP2, Windows Server 2003 (SP1, SP2 and R2) and Windows 7. It seems, Microsoft has learned from its mistakes[fingers crossed].
  13. I like Sygate Personal Firewall v5.5. It works well with Windows 98 Second Edition.
  14. At least the Vectra needs a lot less gas.... jaclaz That argument is funny. It's like dating grandma, 'cause she doesn't need to go clubbin'.
  15. The Classic Start Menu is so "inefficient" that KDE has it, Gnome too, even OS X. They must be mad keeping "old" stuff... cluberti, I think you can't see the difference between OLD and CLASSIC. Let me give you an example: Opel Vectra 1996 VS AC Shelby Cobra 1966.
  16. I know, but I hope MS will put Classic Start Menu as an option there in the RTM build...
  17. There's an option in Group Policy to FORCE ENABLE CLASSIC START MENU, but it doesn't work at all, when ENABLED.
  18. Right now Windows 7 build 7022 leaked to torrent sites, but there's rumors about build 7032... Win7 is pretty much done, there are a few glitches here and there, but as I see it Win7 will need only SP1 for the updates.
  19. Windows installs only on primary active partition, regardless it's C or D or Z for that matter. You have to set the second partition PRIMARY ACTIVE.
  20. It hapened to me a few times. You have to reboot in order to delete the files again, for good.
  21. Try to set up in BIOS the HDD from SATA to IDE and it should work. Here's the SATA driver for you It seems that DELL made a custom Vista DVD to work out-of-the-box with their laptop, including in Vista the SATA driver and the card reader driver. If you know the name of your card reader, search for vista drivers and it should work just fine.
  22. Right click COMPUTER -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery -> Settings -> System Failure -> uncheck Automatically Restart. It will give you a BSOD with some code in there. Type here what it says.
  23. And what keeps you from changing it?
  24. Win2008 R2 DHCP Failover will work out of the box with WinXP SP2 & SP3 and Win2000 SP4.
  25. nvidia's Network Access Manager is to blame if you have it installed.
