  5. if youre registry keeps getting corrupt the problem is not the size, some 3rd party program thats not compatible with win2k is causing the problem. The system hive stores settings for HKLM and for services, its very likely some 3rd party service borked things up.
  6. Released 5 mins ago Microsoft is pleased to announce the availability of SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2. Both the Service Pack and Feature Pack updates are now ready for download on the Microsoft Download Center. Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2008 includes new compatibility features with SQL Server 2008 R2, product improvements based on requests from the SQL Server community, and hotfix solutions provided in SQL Server 2008 SP1 Cumulative Update 1 to 8. Key improvements in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 are: • Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated Mode. SQL Server 2008 SP2 provides updates for Reporting Services integration with SharePoint products. SQL Server 2008 SP2 report servers can integrate with SharePoint 2010 products. SQL Server 2008 SP2 also provides a new add-in to support the integration of SQL Server 2008 R2 report servers with SharePoint 2007 products. This now enables SharePoint Server 2007 to be used with SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Server. For more information see the “What’s New in SharePoint Integration and SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2)” section in What's New (Reporting Services). • SQL Server 2008 R2 Application and Multi-Server Management Compatibility with SQL Server 2008. o SQL Server 2008 Instance Management With SP2 applied, an instance of the SQL Server 2008 Database Engine can be enrolled with a SQL Server 2008 R2 Utility Control Point as a managed instance of SQL Server. SQL Server 2008 SP2 enables organizations to extend the value of the Utility Control Point to instances of SQL Server 2008 SP2 without having to upgrade those servers to SQL Server 2008 R2. For more information, see Overview of SQL Server Utility in SQL Server 2008 R2 Books Online. o Data-tier Application (DAC) Support. Instances of the SQL Server 2008 Database Engine support all DAC operations delivered in SQL Server 2008 R2 after SP2 has been applied. You can deploy, upgrade, register, extract, and delete DACs. SP2 does not upgrade the SQL Server 2008 client tools to support DACs. You must use the SQL Server 2008 R2 client tools, such as SQL Server Management Studio, to perform DAC operations. A data-tier application is an entity that contains all of the database objects and instance objects used by an application. A DAC provides a single unit for authoring, deploying, and managing the data-tier objects. For more information, see Designing and Implementing Data-tier Applications. 8. Gosh! Who's to say what's better for the original poster's circumstances and requirements? mst3kpimp didn't ask about the shortcomings of one OS compared to another. To help better answer his/her question, you should read around the 9x forums a bit - Day-to-day running Win 9x/ME with more than 1 GiB RAM. I used to work for Microsoft supporting windows 95/98/XP. I am very knowledgable about these OS - i supported them. Windows 9x has many memory problems that are not publicly understood, such as the system resources limitation. When i worked for M$ i would get calls all the time from people that had a 10 year old computer trying to run the latest OS. 90% of these people could afford a new pc, they were just too cheap. After years troubleshooting these OS i would never touch them. XP is soooooo much better.
  9. Windows 98 was never tested or designed for more than 512mb of ram. There are patches and "workarounds" for this, but youd be better of upgrading to a newer OS that was designed for this. Windows 95 and later have a fatal design flaw with how memory is used that doesnt exist in windows xp or later. You really need to upgrade
  10. back when windows xp was launched, you could active online 3 times in 3 months. If you exceeded that you had to call. After the 3 months since the last activation it was removed. Enjoy~
  11. Anyone else have this problem? Since installing the critical windows update on tuesday, every couple mins i get a message that a usb device is not detected. And yet, all my usb devices work fine. Ive tried reconnecting my usb devices. Device manager is fine. No errors in event viewer. I got a blue screen this morning in usbstor.sys the update is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2286198 Im using windows xp sp2 x64 Anyone else see this? Error code 00000000000000d1, parameter1 0000000000000000, parameter2 0000000000000002, parameter3 0000000000000001, parameter4 fffffadebfc9cf68.
  12. i dont get the point of the question. yes, you can spend a week writing a vbscript to do this, then edit a bunch of stuff, but whats the poitn? Dont you have more important things to do with your life?
  13. What a nice guy this is. He turns in friends from his facebook page to the police. Who is he going to betray next? Lamo claimed both men are working for WikiLeaks. Also, both men are Facebook friends with Lamo and Manning, and at least one continues to post Facebook messages on Lamo's wall, the former hacker said. http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/08/01/afghanistan.wikileaks.suspect/?hpt=T1 This isnt the first time adrian has done this
