  1. Sorry, EvanD, but it's not a proof. I could show you exactly the same picture from my Firefox 3.5.11 (it means only that Java 6 update 21 was installed on your PC). Have you tested Firefox 3.6.8 and Java on such sites? http://www.javatester.org/ or http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
  2. Interesting because in my case, works only method mentioned by WIN98SE (of course I have disabled next generation Java-plugin). In fact, I haven't tried to install new version over previous one. Btw, it's good to hear, that latest Java works with Firefox 3.6.8 (Mozilla will end soon supporting Firefox 3.5.x).
  3. Thank you for the tip. Maybe not most elegant solution but if works it doesn't matter.
  4. Yes, I have SM 1.1.19 and latest Flash works smoothly with it (like with Firefox 3.5.11 and Opera 10.60). As my observations: I've problem with VLC - I can't use any of never versions (I've got error message with User.exe). MPC-HC indeed works but you must use default render otherwise it crash (at least that happened in my case). Firefox 4 Beta 2 running ok but I've tested it shortly (most of my extensions doesn't work). Good news that latest Avidemux (2.5.3) works without problem. Btw, anyone has tried Java 6 Update 21 (it doesn't work with KEx 4.5 Beta 2)?
  5. Xeno, great to see Release Candidate of KernelEx! I must say, that changelog looks pretty impressive! Btw, special thanks for MPC-HC and VLC.
  6. I think, you should upgrade to the KEx 4.0 Final 2 (if you don't want to try a latest beta version).
  7. You've never installed KEx? After installation and reboot, you should seen a message if it running successfully or not. Yes, you can see version of it in compatibility tab. I've never seen KEx as the separate process (e.g. in Process Explorer). You should ask Xeno or Tihiy (third question). As fourth, it is the answer:
  8. Warm welcome for Windows 2000 users - right now, you're on almost the same boat as we.
  9. Nothing modern - quite old Athlon 64.
  10. Not exactly - at least in my case. No problem with CPU-Z (exe from 9 July) but indeed, latest HW-Monitor doesn't work in Win98 SE.
  11. Java 6 update 21 doesn't work with Firefox 3.5.10 (Java next generation plug-in is disabled, KernelEx 4.5 beta 2). Previous version of it (update 20) work normally.
  12. Just released, Firefox 4 Beta 1 could work with KernelEx 4.5 Beta 2 or we should wait for newer version of it?
  13. You need additinal tools. You can find them here: http://www.webmproject.org/tools/ Btw, VLC could run webm files but not in 1.0.3 version (1.1.0 support them but it doesn't work under Win 98).
  14. Dave-H, sorry to hear, that your graphic card has died. Maybe PSU was too weak for it? Btw, that was 512 or 256 MB version?
  15. I have Opera 10.60 RC2 (build 3444) and I don't see any serious problem (not too much tests, honestly). Btw, loblo, you've build 3445.
  16. No, you're using KernelEx only for those programs, which you can't install and run normally on Win 98/ME. It make sense to disable KernelEx for specific program, if you have some issue because of it's presence. If you don't have such problem, don't change anything.
  17. Of course you can run Firefox 3.6.x (I've tested 3.6.3 version already) with KernelEx but as far as I know there's one (quite serious) problem - at least for me. Java 6 update 20, which I have installed on my system, doesn't work with Firefox 3.6.x. Because of that, I'm using Firefox 3.5.10.
  18. If you have tried latest Flash Player 10.1, it's not surprise - it doesn't work on Win 98. We must wait for newer version of KernelEx. Btw, sometimes it is good to use search option:
  19. I have a question (mainly to rloew): it's technically possible to install PCI-E graphic card with 512 MB of VRAM (e.g. HD 5670) using bearwindows Universal VESA/VBE driver (with help of your patch too)?
  20. There's no special version for Firefox 2.0.0.20 or any other version of Firefox. You've one for alternative browsers and second (AcitveX) for IE. I think, it's best to check KernelEx thread.
  21. Dave-H, I would be grateful, if you could share results of your tries with that GeForce 7950 GT (I'm looking for replacement of my card too).
  22. Yes, it's last and strongest AGP card in Nvidia offer (initially was planned to release 7950 series only for PCI-E). AMD/ATI has newer AGP cards like Radeon HD 4670/4650 but of course drivers for Win98/ME doesn't exist. Btw, how much of VRAM that card have? If it is 512 MB, you could have problem with it.
  23. Sorry but you don't find official GeForce 7 drivers for Win98/ME. The last which supporting those systems is GeForce 6 family. But you can use unofficial drivers and some people from our forum running with them cards from Geforce 7 series.
  24. Yes, I have KernelEx installed (4.5 Beta 2).
  25. Yes, I have Opera 10.60 beta (build 3422) and it running without problem. Btw, I've used a classic installer and that was a clean installation.
