  1. Nah not true. Latest Chromium Build working fine on 8.1: imgur.com/a/lE6buzI As much as I respect @D.Draker for all of your work and effort, I never really got your intention, of why you want to see Windows 7 and 8.1 getting removed from the Main OS Section from MSFN. No one really complains about this. Why even "downgrade" them to that section. They cannot be compared to Vista, especially Windows 7, since they are more popular and many programs still support them. I got that you dont like Windows 7 and 8, but it is really not up to you to decide which OS is "worth" staying in a section or not. Regards
  2. The newly released version of Rufus (USB flash tool) doesn‘t support Windows 7 anymore. Starting with v4.0 it requires Windows 8+ Furthermore, older versions and this one do not provide Windows 7 Downloads anymore
  3. I spotted that Google Drive still supports Windows 8(.1) and not Windows 7. I haven't figured out why since the latest version is using Chromium 105 as it's browser engine. Nonetheless, I think support for 8(.1) will eventually end this year as well, if they choose to upgrade the version to anything higher than 109.
  4. Yeah, maybe they will receive some ESU till 2032 or so but 2040.. nah
  5. Apparently, with Build 19045.2908, they added a new Search icon, which I find to be very ugly. It looks like they ported it straight from Windows 11, without adjusting it. You need to disable the large search box and only use the Icon to see it. Man, it's bigger than the Start Button itself..
  6. Has anyone tried out Microsoft's new Defender application, which is installed alongside Microsoft 365 now, on Windows 8.1? It might be an appx tho, so I don't know if it will work on 8.1 anyway
  7. Yeah but it still works tho if you scan the QR Code
  8. If you download an older installer (.exe) and install it on Windows 7/8.1 it will automatically say that there is an update available and will internally update the app to the latest version. All you can‘t do is to install it directly
  9. Microsoft 365 (Office 365) v2305 works on Windows 8.1 (EOL was 2301) imgur.com/a/Z2Vh1hr
  10. No matter how we turn it, Windows 10 and 11 will be the next 7 and 8.1, who are the next XP and Vista. Windows 10 will probably receive Firefox Updates till 2029 if not 2030 (four years after EOL) and Chrome till 2028 (?)
  11. Lets just hope that 115 won't be the last for 7/8.1 (or that newer versions won't require a lot of patching)
  12. Wow - great work! Very nice to see actually I totally forgot that you have to put --no-sandbox on Spotify as well. Good to know tho
  13. But he added "I can't speak to when we will remove support for Windows 7/Windows 8." Maybe 115 won't be the last, but I doubt that they will continue after that. They will surely loose some users after that. That's why they take so long to consider
  14. Ah alright, I havent thought about that. If you try that out, I would love to hear if it works
  15. I already tried that out. Copying netapi32 from Windows 10 22H2 to 8.1, will prevent Windows 8.1 from loading the User profiles. You can‘t sign in. By the way, you just have to copy your Spotify folder from Windows 10 to 8.1
  16. Hmm interesting but I already saw that coming, since Steam relies on an Embedded Chromium framework (Steam Browser In-Game). Their current one is based on Chromium 85. Same goes for Spotify by the way. We should have an easier procedure on Windows 8.1, than on Windows 7, but I haven‘t found a way yet. I tried making Spotify 1.2.7 (Chromium 110) run on Windows 8.1, but there are two functions added in net32api (Azure Active Directory Join Information Functions) : NetFreeAadJoinInformation and NetGetAadJoinInformation. I don‘t know with what function we could replace those
  17. I know, I was just kidding
  18. Just kidding, but I try my best too for years actually
  19. Very nice to know - thank you! MS also ended Office 365 Support for Windows 8.0 with 2002 but I remember 2005 and 2006 worked on 8.0
  20. The problem is that all websites, regardless if they are Settings or Web, crash in approximantly 30sec-1 minute and you have to reload every time. I don't know why that happens but I encountered that with v113 as well as v114 and I don't think Google with fix that for us nonetheless, I am very happy that we already got 5 newer versions of Chrome(ium) to run on 8.1 at least. I feel a little nostalgic when I look at 7 and 8.1, as they remind me of XP and Vista. 8.1 is much closer to Windows 10, so we encounter less bugs than with Windows 7 on mutliple softwares. I don't know if anyone managed to get Chromium 111+ working on 7
  21. Chromium 114 on Windows 8.1 (thanks to @mjd79) Pic: imgur.com/a/k0WiIKa
  22. Does anyone know a way in how to spoof Windows 10 as the Main OS version on Windows 8.1? I know that newer Office versions, such as 2303 were compatible with 8.1 but Microsoft closed the Beta Program for 8.1. I want to spoof my OS version but it didnt work work with osver.ini hack I saw on Vista. Any ideas?
  23. Microsoft Accounts seem to no longer work on Windows 8.1 I couldnt sign in, even with a fully patched 8.1 (01/23). They break everything currently
  24. Off-Topic: It works with 8.1
  25. Spotify 1.2.7 no longer works on Windows 7, as api-ms-win-core-winrt-l1-1-0.dll is missing. That one was introduced with Windows 8.0 I haven’t checked compatibility with Windows 8.x yet Edit: On Windows 8.1 it says NetFreeAadJoinInformation could not be found in libcef.dll. After investigating a little I found out that libcef.dll is an embedded Chromium Framework, which is now based on Chromium 110. That one was compatible with Windows 8, with some bypasses
