  1. Hi there. Among the things I tweak in about:config are the following, and am wondering if anybody has played/studied these settings (which are set to true by default): user_pref("javascript.options.shared_memory", false); // set *-* user_pref("javascript.options.baselinejit", false); // set *-* user_pref("javascript.options.wasm", false); // set The case to disable wasm thing seems clear: https://github.com/stevespringett/disable-webassembly The other two, I believe, are related to meltdown and specter. See (for windows 7): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb4073119-windows-client-guidance-for-it-pros-to-protect-against-silicon-based-microarchitectural-and-speculative-execution-side-channel-vulnerabilities-35820a8a-ae13-1299-88cc-357f104f5b11 Any thoughts on whether to keep them disabled?
  2. I can't let it hanging just like that, Sir. Youth is a divine treasure and I still fear not what may eventuate when my will is at stake. And, oh, It gets better with age. I'm still hot stuff... Just sayin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwSzwWV8ink
  3. Will try both 2.1 and audacium I think they are getting more of it, ya know? :P
  4. Everything installs, but I'm not sure if it's working. Will tests with time and comment back,
  5. I mean all that free crossing of code from different events of multiple branches of all forgotten trees. Sweet tooth wanted his precious code in his hands all of the time, all for and by himself
  6. Oh, the things we do. Maybe Tobin was right :P
  7. I quit mozilla with 52, so I did not follow its development afterwards. Thanks for sharing all this info.
  8. He. Yes, of course. Greedy me, I wanted to save some time before going that way :P
  9. Hi there. Has anyone been able to make greedy cache (https://github.com/JustOff/greedy-cache) wok in Basilisk52?
  10. Hi, second time I see a file state.json in profile/datareporting folder, with what seems to be a unique identifier: {"clientID":"b7833b9d-188d-4b9a-8bd3-e4053b1d9f0b"}. This is an already used profile. Will test in vanilla later on and report.
  11. Hi there. FF52 is not maintained. You should try sp52, mypal68 or 360 browsers (find them at https://msfn.org/board/forum/201-browsers-working-on-older-nt-family-oses/). Cheers!
  12. Hi there. The latest version of mypal68 (#3) works - no polyfill addon needed. In mypa68 #2 it worked only partially, but #3 (for "light" users like myself, "dunno" about power users) works well. I thought that I had managed to tweak/install the justoff's addon, but I was wrong. As of now, github seems not to be needed, but again, I just use it to peruse and download stuff, so I am most likely wrong about this. I haven't had the opportunity to try gitlab, yet.
  13. The latest version of mypal68 (#3) also works - no polyfill addon needed. In mypa68 #2 it worked only partially, but #3 (for "light" users like myself, "dunno" about power users) works well.
  14. Hey there, I have some old cassette recordings I want to digitalize and am wondering how to do that. I thought of connecting headphone (in walkman -laf, aren't we old) to mic in PC. Would audacity work? Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. FFMPEG: I have been using the build by one of our own, at https://rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M&O=D However, there is at least one other (more) recent alternative build that seems to work in XP at https://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/FFmpeg/. I wonder if any one has tried it and cares to comment differences.
  16. Mplayer, smplayer, mpv: The latest (22.2) build for smplayer (https://www.smplayer.info/en/downloads) is working now in XP (portable at https://www.fosshub.com/SMPlayer.html?dwl=smplayer-portable-22.2.0.0-win32-qt5.6.7z). . This 22.2 build went back to use mplayer versioned 1.3.0.0, which used to run only files, not (dvd) directories - but now runs both, but with a green screen, in my set up-. However, https://oss.netfarm.it/mplayer/ has a buid of the latest binary of mplayer for windows (search for "Build selection table" and select your build) that, replacing smplayer's mplayer 1.3 version, works well, although there is plenty of glitches/strange stuff happening until the movie starts, but it starts, running the vob files one by one with a small gap between them. Nevertheless, the version of mplayer reported in netfarm is 0.0.90, which I cannot quite understand. It plays, so no complain, but I wonder if anyone knows why this version difference. Note that the MPV version built into it does not run in XP, and I wonder why is still there. Still, the latest version that runs can be found in https://sourceforge.net/projects/smplayer/files/SMPlayer/17.3.0/ ).
  17. Given different hardware specs, I do not use many of the tweaks in UOC. However, the idea of having a preconfigured set of default config settings is something I could use, as I use up t four different profiles in SP52. So, can I tailor specific settings to my taste? I guess so, but I want to confirm before embarking on it. Thanks
  18. What are you doing in this thread then, I wonder.
  19. The latest version of putty (https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html) does not run in XP. However, it works applying patchPE to the exes. Except for pageant, that in this latest and the previous version generates an error.
  20. Nice find. Note, though, that the official release of tightvnc works with XP, last I tried.
  21. I can't make it work with onedrive, but works fine with googledrive, and (last I tried, a year ago) with dropbox among otehrs. http://rei.to/carotdav_en.html
  22. Hi @XPerceniol, I do not know about those config settings. As per poisondata for the canvas, try canvasblocker-1.8-an+fx, from the official firefox addons page.
  23. It is indeed working well, with the caveats noted in this thread. As per about:config stuff, since I don't like quantum, I do not plan to use mypal regularly, so I won't comment except for the following: You should start with https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/releases/tag/68.0 . All the tricks in our bags are ff52, and by 68 there were enough changes in place. It SEEMS as if dropping this user.js in the profile works (the settings are taken by the browser).
  24. It may be something global in my setup, because I can't access whatsapp with any of the available browsers. In sp52, the issue is in the two bits below. "Content Security Policy: The page’s settings observed the loading of a resource at https://web.whatsapp.com/serviceworker.js (“worker-src 'none'”). A CSP report is being sent. (unknown) Content Security Policy: The page’s settings observed the loading of a resource at https://web.whatsapp.com/index.47655a88ca3f8d6bb07a.worker.js (“worker-src 'none'”). A CSP report is being sent."
