My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Fresh profile? For those issues (I use addons, multiple browsers and apps connecting to the internet for xyz) it's best to use a firewall. -
My taste: Roytam1 builds are robust. I like serpent 52. Depending on hardware, you can run e10s on it (see second pinned article in this thread), and all the good (and modded) addons of late. Pre-ff83 too (even prior to 82 the numbering was funny). You can find roytam's thread in MSFN below, and his builds here in https://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/search/label/browser.

Cross-platform Windows XP File Transfer Software?
dmiranda replied to FantasyAcquiesce's topic in Windows XP
Dukto (https://sourceforge.net/projects/dukto/files/) installed in both android and XP may do the trick -over LAN. I think you have allow UDP for it in the firewall(s), though, but you can avoid that by manually entering the LAN ip address of the device you wish to transfer files to. -

OMG. Thanks. Now we are back in business. Thank you @luweitest! -
This may be of interest. John Haller says: I've been working on ensuring that links to legacy versions of our apps at PortableApps.com are available for a bit. After reading through a bit of the XP compatible software topic and the recent What does your XP looks like in 2022? topic, I thought I'd consolidate it a bit more and formalize it. I created a Windows XP/Vista Compatible App Versions, Adding To The App Directory topic over in the PA.c forums to track it. I've added a new entry in our listings to link to legacy builds for our apps setup in a way that they install alongside the current versions (ex: HexChatPortableLegacyWinXP) and won't be affected by the PA.c Platform's updater. If there's a PA.c Format app that's missing or an app where we released it after XP/Vista were dropped and you'd like a build of it, drop a post in our forum topic or here and I'll add it to the list to get it put together for interested folks. If there's enough interest, I may put together a legacy PA.c Suite and/or add it to our app store. https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25941

My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
What is interesting is that two builds prior this did not happen at all, at least on my set up. -
My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Almost there. I use now metager as main serach engine, google only when necessary. As per the latest sp52 update, it doesn't affect this bug -which, again seems to occur only with e10s on-. I have noticed that backsapce also stops working (sometimes) in the address bar. -
My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Well, with the new latest version (2 hours ago) the delete/backspace problem persists with e10s enabled. I am now writing this with a very similar profiles, mostly the same addons and the backspace config as 0 (default) and both delete and backspace work well. -

My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Yeah, I was confused too. In fact, I just checked on the 360 variants and all is well. This means, I guess, that the issue is with the last sp52. I will later try on a fresh profile to see if the issue is just e10s+addons. -
My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Now we are talking. Probably I didn't notice this issue before because I use the addon mousegestures 2.5.1. It just may be the case that this addon doesn't override sp52 in text areas, anymore. PS: for those who have seen it in youtube, a clear case of where is my cheese :P -
My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hi there. I've never had the need. Up to this week or so, backspace was backspace for me, without question. I just checked this never used (by me) setting. 0, which is the default = page back: a nightmare. In writing this post I had to redo it four or five times as I hit backspace to edit stuff. Dang. 1 takes you to the beginning of the page. At least I don't have to reload the page. 2 or any other number kills backspace. However, for text boxes the issue is not only, now, with backspace, but also with delete! And this is all new this week (be it because changes in the build, or in the internet (which may be the case since it is not working in chrome either, I guess, since articfoxie is using the script he suggested). and its interaction with e10s (as @luweitest suggests). So now I'm stuck on 2 in browser.backspace_action, and have to select the text I want to delete ): -

My Browser Builds (Part 4)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hi. It didn't work for me. I get a "can't fetch http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.4/jquery.js" kind of error. However, the following script works: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/7229-backspace-means-backspace -

dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Thanks for testing. Something on my set up, probably. I get this issue even with the latest one published yesterday. I will go back a couple of months and check, over the week. Cheers! -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hi there. The last build of sp52 doesn't recognize the silverlight plugin. Around a month ago, it was working all right. -
Thanks! Will have a look.

My Browser Builds (Part 3)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Can't replicate. But I restrict scripts. Even allowing for scripts in huffpost (alone, none of the load of script the page loads with it), I can see the news (not the pictures, but that will probably can be resolve with further ematrix tweaking). -
We shall consider that ff68 is well into the path of mozilla's transformation into whatever the heck it is now. Therefore it includes more spyware features (telemetry is just that plus customer services, heh) than the versions we generally use. I have noticed something of a UID sometimes, but I use mypal (or one of the two 360chrome flavors available) just for social media and stuff I can't see in sp52. While in mypal, @XPerceniol,every now and then I throw them cookie-monsters a bone, and visit one or two external links too, so the bots can chat among them. A visit to ok-ru makes them crazy. I think one of the gg bots has the hots for me...

Any browser can do Netflix?
dmiranda replied to theelf's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
It still works in a vanilla (freshly installed) profile. How long, who knows.
