  1. like duh (I mean yes) Jody that's why I don't remove IE10 - the MSU package needs to update some IE files to version 11 and if they're not present then IE11 won't get installed I'm gonna try installing IE11 (KB4492872) on my relative's old HP a6050y desktop PC running Win8.0 Pro and see how it goes - it already has the April 2019 rollup (KB4493451) so I don't need the Feb. 2019 updates
  2. yup. I manually extracted the specific cab file and used dism.exe to install it - seems to go quickly than usual though (which meant it installed/updated a few files) but anyways, .NET 4.8 just came out also IE11 for Win8 Embedded / Server 2012 R0 from MS support article 4492872 which has some Prerequisites (or IE11 installation may fail, also IE10 must be enabled/installed for the package to upgrade from IE10 to IE11)
  3. although MS ended support for XP POSReady 2009 on April 9, 2019 (for those XP users who have used the posready reg hack) - no more new posready updates will be made btw, Lenovo has only Win10 downloads for OP's Lenovo desktop PC (it's a 310s-08iap), no Win7 downloads available

    DX12 Win 7

it's only the D3D (direct3d) portion of DX12 that is getting back ported to Win7
  5. that's not the only reason, Jody. if you read MS support KB article 4492872 about IE11 for Server 2012 / Windows Embedded 8 Standard: need to install at least any of the Feb. 2019 updates for Win8/Server 2012 or newer before attempting to install IE11 (and restore the IE10 feature from Add/Remove Components). edit: unlike the IE11 downloads for Win7 SP1 / Server 2008 R2 SP1 which are in EXE files, the IE11 downloads for Win8 are packaged in MSU files
  6. I did find one minor problem with your Win8.0 repository: KB4054542 (.NET 4.7.2) is not compatible with Win8.0 client OS. Windows8-RT-KB4054542-x86-pkgProperties.txt file says the following: KB4054542 installs on Win8 embedded & Server 2012 only and not on "normal" win8.0 OS. Latest version of .NET Framework that can install on "Win8.0 client" is 4.6.2 from KB3181500.
  7. better use either Macrium Reflect free or Easeus Todo Backup free and do a "disk clone" which copies the entire contents (including the MBR and perhaps hidden partitions) from one drive to another doing this with built-in backup apps in Windows isn't quite good enough
  8. what kind of win8.1 iso? the ones MS have are win8.1 + update 3 (KB3000850) Heidoc's Windows & Office ISO Downloader tool (latest version) now includes the option of downloading the Aug 2018 Win7 ISOs
  9. a little late in responding to this but here's the "applicability info" I extracted from the IE9-Windows6.0-KB4480965-x86-pkgProperties.txt file inside the MSU file: updates to IE9 for Server 2008 SP2 (and Vista SP2) continues until Server 2008 EOL which is Jan. 14, 2020.
  10. that's because KB4490128 was released Friday 3/22, Blados. mike_shupp only edited his post on Tuesday 3/19 and was not fully aware that KB4490128 would come later in March
  11. you are wrong about the "print preview" feature, videobruce. I have the Print Preview options available in both Seamonkey and Pale Moon. I'm not sure what versions of Seamonkey and Palemoon are you using but I'm using the latest ones of those (or at least the Seamonkey versions that WG9S have on his web site)
  12. I take this back. you actually need both KB4474419 and KB4490628, Thinkpad4, as in "all of the above" anyway download and install both of them and reboot (these patches are relatively small)
  13. seems like Microsoft has just declared the 1809 version "business ready" and is now available in the SAC channel. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-IT-Pro-Blog/Windows-10-version-1809-designated-for-broad-deployment/ba-p/389540 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10/release-information and there are new refresh ESDs & ISOs of 1809 available that contain build 17763.379
  14. from Askwoody.com web site: https://www.askwoody.com/2019/more-signs-that-ms-is-closer-to-releasing-1809/ from Microsoft support KB article 4028685 (published 3/20/2019) - Get the Windows 10 October 2018 Update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028685/windows-10-get-the-update
  15. just KB4474419 MS support KB article 4472027, got revised March 14, 2019
  16. actually the SHA-2 update is just KB4474419 and applies to all Win7 editions and for all environments, not just for enterprise. Windows Update does offer KB4474419 for any Win7 edition if it is not already installed. KB4474419 will be required to install any new Win7 update made in August 2019 and beyond
  17. hey guys. have any of you downloaded the mpam-fe.exe file this March 2019? it seems to be about 90Mb (looks like MS "shrunk" the MSE definition exe file update lately) wonder if this one will still work with MSE 4.4.304 on XP (when I had that, I usually did manual updates to the MSE definitions and never do automatic updates)
  18. and then there were these recent articles: https://news.softpedia.com/news/updating-windows-10-is-a-nightmare-for-home-users-research-finds-525116.shtml https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-new-study-shows-home-edition-users-are-baffled-by-updates/
  19. which web sites have this problem, Nomen? (post the links to the sites)
  20. yup. you said it dencorso. in the end, I'll just make my own integrated & updated win7 iso with all editions included [aka. AIO] but will leave out the telemetry patches edit 3/2: plus these new win7 ISOs MS had may be too big to download for some users who have a slow DSL or satellite internet connection (and do not include any usb 3.0/3.1 drivers for modern machines that use only usb 3.x ports)
  21. why are you guys still running IE10? it's no longer available from MS and MS doesn't provide updates for IE10 on win7 anymore. can't you upgrade to IE11?
  22. assuming the OP in that thread has a PC with an SSE2 capable processor; Office 2013 also requires an CPU with SSE2 support and does not run on non-SSE2 processors also need to install any .NET Framework 4.x version between 4.0 and 4.6 on Vista
  23. IE11 for Server 2012 is scheduled to be released sometime in spring 2019 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4488955
  24. that's easy Petr. Intel Yonah CPUs are 32bit only, no 64bit support -instruction set is always 32bit. Coreinfo app is reporting wrong info for the T2300E CPU as that processor is 32bit/x86 only. the CPU-Z tool should report better accurate info about the T2300e CPU than Coreinfo. I tried to boot from Win10 v1809 install media (either the regular Win10 1809 versions or the LTSC 2019 release) on an old Dell Inspiron e1405 laptop [which also uses Intel 945GM chipset] and it would just hang on the Windows logo screen for many hours doing nothing (no spinning dots on that boot screen). That is until I changed the processor from an Intel Core Duo T2700 (Yonah) to an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 (Merom). After upgrading the CPU to the T7600, I booted again from the v1809 usb install media and it went through with no problems and no lockups. Edit 2/28 about the Dell e1405: It seems the v1803 release of win10 worked fine with the Intel Yonah Core Duo CPU on the dell e1405 laptop but not the v1809 release; only when I upgraded the CPU to any Socket M based Intel Merom CPU that I can run the 1809 version. So upgrade the processor on the Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo Q5010 machine to an Intel T7200, T7400 or T7600 processor and see what happens (may also need a BIOS update to support the T7200/T7400/T7600 processors since my Dell e1405 laptop already had bios support for these cpus w/ bios rev. A10) And for the MSI 915GM Speedster-FA4 computer, you are better off running Win10 LTSB 2016, which is based on v1607 (see that is why I like to run the older LTSB/LTSC editions of Win10 on old hardware that can't work with newer Win10 releases, except for LTSC 2019 which requires newer hardware) that problem eventually got fixed by MS starting with the KB4476976 update in late January 2019, which resolves the compatibility problem with older AMD graphics cards. Edit 2/28: There's a topic in the Ten forums about running Win10 on really old hardware, especially old machines using Intel 915G/GM chipsets.
  25. maybe this spring perhaps must wait a while for IE11 on Srv2012 since MS isn't gonna release it right away (come back in April 2019 and find out if IE11 for Server 2012 R0 shows up on MS Update Catalog) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17454/lifecycle-faq-internet-explorer
