  1. they do NOT work under Win95. might work OK on Win98/ME systems as I've recently tested. this was PROBLEMCHYLD's quote, the_guy! Ask him why he's getting problems with the unofficial 926247 SNMP patch. MDGx, please revise unofficial 928388 DST patch [KB928388.EXE]. I got this from an XP SP1 user.
  2. either Christmas or New Year's. I still have to decide whether to include (or exclude) the RUNHELP.CAB, 2007 time zone adjustment registry fix, MSXML 2.5 (msxml.dll, msxmla.dll & msxmlr.dll) and Q329048 Plus!98/Win98 update. just wanted to note that it'll be a temporary takeover if Gape doesnt respond by either Christmas or New Year's now that Gape is back, my previous plans for the updated 98 SE SP will be completely scrapped. ALL Win98se users should now wait for Gape to release the next version of the 98se service pack.
  3. that's the problem, glocK_94. as swgreed said, you have to register to be a member of the Gravure-hebdo site to download files there. non-members will NOT have access to that site. try visiting the Gravure-hebdo site from somebody else's computer, use your friend's or neighbor's PC and browse that site.
  4. WebMatze used to make a French edition of the 98se service pack. you will need to ask him, ophiuchus. send WebMatze a personal message [PM] or email. nah swgreed. The site that had the french 98se SP no longer hosts the service pack anymore. you're in luck, ophiuchus. AutourduPc has a copy of the French 98se SP 2.1a at his web site. Get it here. AutourduPc also had created pages featuring updates/addons for Win98, 2000, ME, NT4, XP. the site is in French.
  5. unofficial Q926247 SNMP patch needs to be REMOVED from MDGx's web site (PROBLEMCHYLD, the Q926247 patch is mostly created by the_guy; MDGx's unofficial patches ALWAYS display a prompt to install patches). Like the unofficial Q920213 MS agent patch, Q926247 SNMP patch is incompatible with Windows 9X/ME/NT4 systems and fails with either a "link to missing export" error message or crashes W9XMENT4 systems. Looks like unofficial Q925398 patch needs to be revised. The CopyFiles section (or whatever the CopyFiles section is named as) should have STRMDLL.DLL as "STRMDLL.DLL,,,4". This will make the patch copy its STRMDLL.DLL file and overwrite the existing the version.
  6. awergh, read shaddam's quote on using Foxit Reader 1.3 with the GDIPLUS.DLL file- which can be disabled from Adobe Reader 7 options dialog box. I hate it when it loads at startup. try running AR7 without their stuff loaded at bootup time. could be a difference in performance. Foxit Reader is a nice alternative to Adobe Reader. There's even a Foxit Reader Pro edition (shareware): http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_pro.php I'm going to use the free edition Foxit Reader. Foxit reader is almost unusable for reading text documents, it has much lower quality of displayed text. It depends on the pdf document itself too, of course. Petr the reason for lower visual quality is maybe the missing gdiplus.dll in window 98, but this dll can inserted by hand.... http://foxitsoftware.com/bbs/showthread.ph...d+1130+Released
  7. Undelete Plus version 2.5 now available. this new version now supports 800x600 screen resolution, has a Help file and adds Serbian and Greek languages.
  8. speaking of using Nero, download and install Nero 6.6.1.4 to create boot CDs. if you have an older release of Nero Burning ROM 6, upgrade to the latest release [6.6.1.4] haven't you read or downloaded the Nero 6 user's guide, donutbandit? get it here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/User_Guides_Burning_ROM_6.html OR Nero's Help file (included in the Nero 6.6.1.4 Language pack)?
  9. this was from the 2007 DST Time Zone adjustment for Win2000 thread It makes too many restart which is annoying after applying even if you use the switches it stills reboot heres a list COPY2GB CRYPT9X DXM9X HHUPD IE925454 MP923689 OLEUP Q329048 Q886677 Q918547 Q924191 Q927978 Q928388 RICHED9X SERVIC9X SHELL98 TTFPAK U891711 VS6SP6U i have to keep them all in a seperate folder because the reboot automatically I dont have issues with them because I run those patches with the "/R:N" switch, which DOES prevent an automatic reboot. perhaps I should request that these patches should prompt to restart the computer rather than performing an automatic reboot when they are done.
  10. scratch that. Gape is back as he made a response in the 98se SP forum yesterday. wish I could say the same thing for Gurgelmeyer.
  11. Gape will be the one who will determine that, FoxHound. welcome back Gape! and Happy Holidays! I wish I could say the same for Gurgelmeyer, the creator of the unofficial Win2000 SP5.x "Hotstream" pack. Gurgelmeyer has done a great job with his unofficial SP5.x for Windows 2000, lately he seems to have disappeared from the face of the cyberworld.
  12. You can download Foxit Reader 1.3 build 1621 here. also store a copy of the GDIPLUS.DLL file in the same folder where the Foxit Reader application file is.
  13. that's too bad. oh well
  14. even better, download and run the freeware CPU-Z tool from this site: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php this tool can do it all. CPU-Z can get info about your processor, memory, mobo and the BIOS that your mobo is using. better than using the Intel CPU ID utilities and better than using the BIOS Agent tool to get info about the motherboard's BIOS.
  15. well MDGx, you've just got one complaint from a Win2k user about how the unofficial patches automatically restart the computer without warning this was from the 2007 DST Time Zone adjustment for Win2000 thread
  16. you may have to restart the computer for the updated 2007 DST registry entries to take effect. sorry e144539 but that's the nature of some of MDGx's unofficial patches (others DO ask you to reboot). you may want to run the KB928388.EXE file with the /R:N switch which prevents the update from doing an automatic reboot.
  17. not sure. I know under my WinME computer, it creates or appends the AdvpackExt.log and setupapi.log files in the WINDOWS folder when running or using the ADVPACK.DLL file. I'm not sure how "advpack logging" is enabled under ME.
  18. or perhaps Tihiy may want to try making Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0 run under Win98 SE. Foxit Reader 2.0 does not run under Win95 (and maybe NT4) as it requires the MSIMG32.DLL file which is not included in Win95. maybe the previous version 1.3 will work okay under Win95 & WinNT4
  19. Firefox 2.0.0.1 now available here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0.0.1/releasenotes/ same with Firefox 1.5.0.9: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/releases/1.5.0.9.html Win95 users should get FF 1.5.0.9 as FF 2.x crashes under Win95. the "MS Firefox" site I mentioned earlier is still working...
  20. thanx, BenoitRen. I interpret "Windows 9x" as Windows 95, 98 & ME which is as it should be (NO exclusion of Win95) I believe Marius '95 also uses Win95, most likely version B. havent seen any recent posts from him lately. Windows 3.x still alive? neat!
  21. not really true, Max_04. even though Win98fe doesnt have ICS, Win98FE users can install the XP-based ICS client on a Win98fe machine. Copy the NETSETUP.EXE file from an WinXP machine and onto a floppy disk. Then run NETSETUP.EXE on a Win98fe machine and that'll install ICS and some UPNP (universal plug & play) components onto Win98fe. the XP SP1/SP2 editions of NETSETUP.EXE include the Q314941 UPNP security fixes. also, a normal or typical Win98SE installation does not automatically install ICS. so ICS is not installed under Win98se by default. eh, I dont have to worry about the unpatched Netbios problem in WinME. I NEVER use Netbios on my ME computer. I'd rather use WINIPCFG and click on RELEASE ALL, then click on RENEW ALL to reset my network connections on the WinME computer. that's one of the Workarounds mentioned in MS article 269239.
  22. just remember, jimmsta. Win98's boot system files alone CANT recognize NTFS volumes, so do NOT use the NTFS partition as a BOOT partition.
  23. not sure. MDGx will have to ask the "Anonymous" author of the unofficial English Shell32.dll fix if he can translate the Italian version. well said, Rick Chauvin. These shell32.dll fixes for Win98 and WinME have mostly (though not completely) resolved the file deletion problem with the IE6 browseui DLL files.
  24. 98FE SP 2.05 Preview Release 2 posted here: <link removed> contains the USA 2007 DST regsitry fixes from 928388, updated RUNHELP.CAB file and WM6.x DXMASF.DLL + STRMDLL.DLL fix for Media Player 6.4.
  25. nice. does ORCA 2.0 work with W9X/ME/NT4 OSes? I know ORCA version 3.1 requires Win2000/XP/2003/Vista.
