  1. Run your copy of XP thru nlite, don't make any changes and get nlite to make you an ISO which you can burn to a CD, this will be bootable, or use CDImageGUI which can do the same thing if you dont want to install nlite and the dotnet framework.
  2. Try the CDImageGUI as an ISO building tool. I use this instead of using Nlite to burn ISO's as I spend ages fiddling about in the $OEM$ folder after nliting and it just seems simplier than running nlite again. Also seems alot more customisable, there are alot of settings that can be changed. Everything I burn runs off a DVD as I only have a DVDRW disc and not any CDRW's I use Nero to burn the DVD, remembering to select that I am burning a DVD image even if it is less than 700Mb
  3. I got this when I copied the UWXPCD_ROOT folder to the root of my UACD, and not the contents of UWXPCD_ROOT. Copy the contents not the root. This might or might not be your problem
  4. I went with sticking this IF EXIST "%UserProfile%\Application Data\stickies\stickies.ini" attrib -r "%UserProfile%\Application Data\stickies\stickies.ini" IF EXIST "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\stickies\stickies.ini" attrib -r "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\stickies\stickies.ini" in my cleanup.cmd GSM, thanx for the vbs code, but I'm not sure what to change the green too. I think I'll stick with the above for the time being. Thanx all.....
  5. I've been dumping it in the $Docs folder off $OEM$ so windows copies it over itself. I'm just running a test install in VMWare as I type using the attrib cmd
  6. That's what I am looking for. I'm now off to find an example to wortk with. Thanx
  7. Hi I'm trying to figure how to set the attributes of a file after it has been copied from within the $OEM$ dir. after the installation? Background: I am using Stickies5.2a, and copying it over from within $Progs folder. The settings and the stickies themselves are stores in an .ini file in Users\Appilcation Data\Stickies. I copied my current .ini file to $OEM$\$Docs\Default User\Application Data\Stickies, and it installs and runs fine. However when I shutdown the machine it cannot save the updated stickies or any new stickies that I have created because the .ini file is set as read only as it has been copied from the CD. I could manually set this after every install, but is there a way of doing it UA. I've had a quick search about but not come up with anything useful. Any help gratefully appreciated. Ta Rik
  8. I did notice this when I used it. Again Thanx
  9. I got a 36Gb Raptor, 80Gb Maxtor and 200Gb WD in my main machine. Windows, Program Files, Games and Profiles are on the Raptor. Also the Raptor is used to temp store nlite ISOs as these ISOs are run from there. The 200GB WD was is a replacement data drive for the 80Gb which was getting very cramped with all my Music, Docs, OS ISOs, Utils and Install files, UACD files and game backups. The 80Gb is now a scratch disc for the Page File, VMWare harddiscs and a dump for files that I want to deleted but think I might need to keep them for a bit, but don't want them in there orginal folders. Also packing a 400Gb NAS (DS-101 Diskstation), and a multi-purpose server with 1 x120Gb and 1 x250Gb, both of which have backups of the main machine on. And a test bed with an 80Gb HD, cuz I could not find anything smaller/cheaper.
  10. But then you end up wearing out the middle of your tyres much quicker so, you have to replace youe tyres more often, just go with the manufactures recommeded settings for your weight and check regularly, you save gas and tyres at the same time
  11. I love it! You two competing (ish) to create a smaller installer. Only benefits us guys more. By allowing a smaller overall UACD size Thanx
  12. Even an out of date UACD can be a good base to work from, if you've nothing better. But it is wrong to d/l a UACD, as it is still protected by the M$ EULA, plus the licences of whatever software is on the CD. Make your own, it's seriously good fun!
  13. Then BartPE/UBCD4win, is pretty much the jackpot IMHO. I've had no experience with WinPE so I can't really comment on that.
  14. You don't want to live in the UK, petrol is approaching a GBP per litre in some place, and is over 90p per litre everywhere else. It will soon be cheaper to fuel my car with beer that in my opinion is a crime. Feel like I'm being $%^* $%#@ed everytime I have to fill up.
  15. Thanx Vid0 That's another 14Mb shaved from my total install size. Many thanx also to RyanVM whos switchless Adobe reader i have been using up until about 3 minutes ago. cheers guys
  16. BartPE with UBCD4win intergrated. It has several virus scanners with it. hth, Rik
  17. It's a toughy if you only have a choice between those too, which I guess is the case if you are asking about those two only. You won't be wanting a AMD 64, if you have a limited choice. Look here, you can compare the processors, nearly. The closest it can get to a 2.93Ghz Celeron is a 2.60Ghz Celeron. Hope this helps, also dont forget to factor in power consumption and cost of aqusition, assuming that you don't already have them
  18. Microsoft will hunt you down and take you away! Nah only kidding, probably nothing will happen, but you are breaking the EULA, which is wrong.
  19. I've just discovered that SmartFTP can be downloaded with two different types of installers. MSI based .exe and a NSIS based .exe. I have been using the MSI based .exe with basically no success. I am currentely running a test on the NSIS based .exe with a /S switch. In about 2 mins I will know the results of this test and will tack them onto the end of this post. Also as a plus side the NSIS .exe is about 1mb smaller than the MSI .exe! I think that it worked as it has gone past the install in RunOnceEx and not thrown an install screen at me. So there is something to add to your list. As for the MSI .exe, it's going in the recycle bin now. EDIT: Now on desktop for 1st time and it worked, no problem. It installs two desktop shortcut, should anyone care. These are now being added to my cleanup.cmd for removal.
  20. I like the list, it is very useful. However, there is no entry for SmartFTP. I am struggling to find a switch for it at the moment, the installer claims to be a Nullsoft installer, but using /S doesnt work and neither does treating it like an .MSI with /qn. When I do find a switch I shall post back here and you could add it in when you get a chance. Many thanx, keep up the good work!
  21. REG ADD %KEY%\007 /VE /D "Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.0" /f REG ADD %KEY%\007 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\AntiStuffWare\keriopf420.exe /S /V\"/qn REBOOT=Suppress\"" /f REG ADD %KEY%\007 /V 2 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\AntiStuffWare\KerioConfig\kerioConfig.cmd" /f Here is the entry for Keriopf4.2.0 from my RunOnceEx.cmd. It also copies over the config file so that I dont have to spend quite so long setting up the firewall each time. The config file can be found under the \config folder in your kerio setup on your current machine.
  22. Also checkout a program called WallMast. Look for the free version. I've got my set to load on startup, change the wallpaper and close again. And it takes jpg's
  23. I think that there is a option to remove these using nlite, in the tweaks section. However if you want to remove these from a current install, I'm afaird I can't help. You could try and find the reg tweaks that nlite uses and apply them to your install and see what happens
