  1. 1x 8.4Gb 1x 36.5Gb 1x 80Gb 1x 120Gb 1x 200Gb 1x 250Gb 1x 400Gb (in the post arriving 2morw) =1.09Tb of drives that I know work and that I use on a regular basis. I have about another 200Gb of drives that mite work, but I am not sure
  2. nlite the hell out of your copy of XP and under the tweaks section on the compatability tab tick the "Disable minimum memory requirements" check box. Make sure that you take as much out of XP as possible esp. in regard the to the services. Burn a CD of this and pray hard. If you use BTS driver packs and they work on you machine don't forget to let him know the spec of the machine, i.e. Mobo make etc. cuz it'll beat the Intel 440BX PII chip set which I tried about a month ago. Good luck
  3. I am looking at getting some NAS for my network as a back-up to my main machine and my server. I am looking at backing up about 300Gb of data, so I'd be looking for about 400Gb of space. So far I have come up with these options 1) Linksys NSLU2 2) Buffalo Kuro Box 3) Synology DiskStation DS-101 and I am wondering if anyone had any opinions on which one is better or if anyone has one of these and there experience. Also open to other options as well. Thanx Rik
  4. Just installed XP (nlited - 1.04b) on an old AMD k6-500, 128Mb, 8.4 Gb HD, or something similar, which used to have Win98 on it. It seems to run slightly slower for obivous reasons, but is a **** sight more stable.
  5. BTS. Slightly OT, but I got this from clicking the 'supported devices' in your first post. But you 404 Error rocks. http://www.BTSunattended.net/Projects/Driv...erPacks_LAN.htm gives the 404 error. Rik
  6. iTunes 4.7, 9000 tracks and counting, plus the biggest pile of CD's ever
  7. Try creating a BartPE CD with UBCD4win on it. This will have all the utils you'll ever need, inc. a virus scanner or two. I can't remember which ones off the top of my head Have a google and see what you can come up with.
  8. I caught myself looking at one the other day. Still trying to make up my mind about it....
  9. I get some delay as well, normally a few mins, but there is hard drive activity during this period so I'm not too worried.
  10. AFAIA you can connect them to any mobo with the right connection, but if the board only supports USB 1 then they'll only run and USB 1. Correct me if I'm wrong
  11. Cheers JuMz, I'll have a look when I get back from work.
  12. I suppose you could under-clock your system, but that involves BIOS changes each time you want to use it. But unless you have a set of variable speed fans in your machine, it will still be just as noisey, but will produce less heat, but the performance will take a hit at the same time. I personally have never tried this, as I like to build my machines as quiet and as powerful as possible from the start.
  13. XP Pro SP2 is the way to go and will probably be the way to go for a long while. I'd love to try Server 2003, but have not been able to find the time/money to get a copy
  14. If you are using the intel stock cooler on the CPU, get it off and get yourself a nice quiet Zalman CNPS7000 Flower cooler. That should cut loads of the noise out and wont cost you the earth in the process
  15. Use VMWare if you can get your hands on it, it's much faster that VPC2004 IMHO
  16. Why would you want this chip in a desktop? It's gonna be designed for mobile use with the next generation Centrino laptops. Dual-core and shared caches, all while only using ~25W = massive portable power. ~25W, yep great. Then I can make the ulitmate totally silent machine that still kicks some a**!
  17. I'm gonna wait until the new Intel Yonnah chip (when they release it) makes the jump from notebook to desktop
  18. 1) GTA SA 2) GTA VC 3) GTA 3 4) UT 5) UT 2004
  19. Err... I'll just look.... ok I can't look so I'll go from memory. If I remember right it is in the section where you are removing all the components that you dont want.... Ah sod I'm gonna have to run n;ite now as can't remember the name of the section. Got it. It's under the 'remove components' section right at the bottom. You can safely remove all three folders that are there
  20. Purchase Notorn System Works 2005. This comes with a copy of Ghost 2003, if my memory serves me right.
  21. You should be able to delete these folders when you setup your CD from Nlite. That is assuming that you are using Nlite.
  22. 3rd party Apps and other stuff from M$. The User State Migration Tool is in there if you ever think you are gonna need it which I doubt, unless you are a network admin. Basically stuff which you are never gonna use EDIT: I've just looked, I think that I wasted my time looking I'm never gonna use any of it
  23. Out of interest how did you solve the problem?
  24. I'm sure he appreciates your reply just as much. and you've got a diagram on yours as well B)
  25. If you want to save a bit of space, you can delete the ValueADD and Support folders, unless you need anything specific from them.
