  1. I do! I have little choice when visiting my parents
  2. Just out of interest what does the %~dp0 do?
  3. Thanx Yzöwl, I just realised that I can leave the shortcut in $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Speedfan and I can ignore what it does in the admin account. Just so long as the program is installed the same place then a shortcut from an active system can be used. If the shortcut is already in All Users\Start Menu then the batch file that I use will work fine.
  4. You could also try placing the renuser before your cleanup.cmd, in cmdlines.txt. Althought Yzöwl's idea should do the same thing.
  5. Is it possible to specify where a program places its shortcuts when it installs itself. For example, at the moment when I install speedfan 4.22 as a silent install it places shortcuts for itself in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu and ideally I want it to place its shortcuts in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu The reason for this is that I use a different Administrator name on each computer and I don't really want to have to change the Administrator name in too many places before burning a CD or testing. Ta Rik
  6. You may also wish to watch out for the small issue that I have encountered. If you rename the Administrator account and have a cleanup.cmd that deteles short cuts and other such items from your start menu and some of these are Administrator specfic i.e. DEL "%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Remote Assistance.lnk" Then you will have to change the Administrator part to the new name of your admin account. This is only likely to be a problem if you are going to install this on many differenet computers with different Administraor names.
  7. The autologon part doesn't seem to work with the name change. I've just tried it. Had to change the logon name mannually and then it logged in as normal and installed everything. Anyone any idea of how to get round this?
  8. Thanx Yzöwl. I know that there is a way to change this in nlite, but this is a useful way to change it without having re-nlite everytime I re-install on a different machine. Just change the cmdline.txt and burn. Cheers!
  9. I have been poking about for a while trying to figure how, and come with nothing, to the question; Is it possible to get separate backdrops on a dual screen setup, and if so, how? Can anyone help Thanx Rik
  10. Try disabling any AV as well. I have to disable both firewall and AV when D/L from RyanVM's site
  11. I am swaping CPU coolers and I was wondering how to remove the old thermal grease? My mate suggested nail polish remover. Would this do the job without damaging the CPU die? TIA Rik
  12. Try copying your source again and intergrating SP2 again. I can't think why it would be asking for releasenotes.html. I have completely removed it from my install. Just a suggestion.... Rik
  13. Have a look under the "unattended XP" section of the forum. There has been much talk of the Quick Launch Bar in here HTH Rik
  14. My only suggestion would be to put it in the System32 Folder in your $OEM$ folder. This is just a guess as I use RyanVM packs and nlite to slipstream them all together.
  15. Please don't shout! All capitals is not the way to go.
  16. What settings did you change in nlite? Rik
  17. I think that I knocked my language bar on the head either when setting up my unatteded answer file or during my XP shrinking using nlite. Can't remeber which, sorry, but mite be worth a look at these two stages Rik
  18. Just thought that I'd flag it to the top of the pile for all the newbies out there (such as myself)
  19. Ok, after a solid 4 hours of reading in this forum and 6 installs of XPSP2 unattended on a virtual machine I got the quick launch to work. Here's How (for those who can't....) 1) Open Regedit on your production machine (Mine is SP2 with all hotfixes) 2) Navigation your way down to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop 3) Once there do File --> Export and save as quicklaunch.reg 4) Copy/Move to your $OEM$ 5) In your cmdlines.txt file add the line "REGEDIT /S quicklaunch.reg" 6) Make sure that you include the " at each end 7) Save and make your ISO and off you go (hopefully) This worked for me, I hope for those that are struggling, like I was, that this is of use. One thing that helped a lot was making my own reg key, at least then all the syntax within the key will be correct. HTH Rik
  20. Quick thanx just to say that I found this topic useful when trying to move My Music folder before an installation of itunes. Ta.
  21. I found that just changing \boot to \UBCD did the trick. I am not entirely sure where all this \cdsh came from the in the multi-guide came from, but the \boot thing worked for me Rik
