Ok I am uploading a new, edited copy of switchless itunes, it's avalible on the original link post on the previous page. Let me know if you have any issues with it. Also a big @narrative for posting a 7zS.sfx with the itunes icon embedded in it.

@narrative Your 7zS.sfx works great, I had a few issues, but they were all of my own doing (being a dumbass) so a big

S**T! Thanx I have now removed the file. Will work around. Could you poss change or edit my email address in some way so that it does't get scraped. Cheers Rik

Nice one! I'll try it out later. Did you edit RyanVM's 7zS.sfx with the percentage bar or did you start from scratch. I'll update it (the itune.exe file) if it all works

[How To] Make Maxthon your default browser
rikgale replied to prathapml's topic in Application Installs
It works! Thanx prathapml. I'm now going to try tha_vampyr's idea run it from RunOnceEx.cmd and see what happens. -
It half worked, it opens the link in Maxthon and then throws an error along the lines of "Can't find www.whatevertheheckyouwerelookingfor.com, please use The Search fucntion in the start menu to find it" or something similar. I'm gonna try Prathampl's guide again, and follow it from the beginning this time.

Ok I think that I fixed it. After a bit more fiddling and playing about (working on the theory its a test machine install and therefore ment to be broken to learn) I played about under the advance button a bit more. And each of the URL's has an 'open' command when you click on the Advanced button. However when you try abd edit this nothing happens, so I deleted it and created a new one with it linked to maxthon. I then did a regedit seacrh for "maxthon" and came across the following entry [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\command] @="\"\\Program Files\\Maxthon\\Maxthon.exe \" %1" After a bit of looking about in the regitery I tried adding a link to Maxthon with the ftp short cut in Folder Options and a similar entry occured in the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FTP\shell\open\command] reg entry, so all I have to do it link all the types of short cut that were once listed to Maxthon and then export the reg enties that are created and add them to my install. Will report back on my sucess or failure later on

Hi I am looking for a little help with a problem I'm experincing after taking the plunge and removing I.E. from my XP install. (I've kept the core) I'm using Maxthon to replace I.E. and I followed Parthapml's guide to do this. I had half followed the guide without knowing it existed, but I have since added the .inf file to my install. My problem is that whenever I click on an internet shortcut I get this error msg I follow its advice and go into the change folder options to try and change it so that the shortcut open with Maxthon, but the options to change are blanked out. How can I create it so that Maxthon will automacally open internet shortcuts. I've had a search about but not come up with anything that helped. Any help appreciated Cheers Rik

Power Supply Unit. Makes the whole lot work.
-
Try another PSU, that might solve all your problems. Lots of issues with computers that can't be explained can be caused by a faulty/c**p/underpowered PSU feeding noisy power signals to the computer components.

4 min and 7 min on either is pretty **** quick! What the hell are you running your v-machines on? Just XP (nlite, RyanVM and BTS ~320Mb) takes about 10 - 12 mins on VMWare and 20+min on VPC, when doing a full install (above plus all apps) takes about 20mins on VMWare and forever on VPC. This is all on my main setup as spec'ed below.

Heys guys, been quiet here for a while. Martin, how's that bust server going? MOON, where are you man? You've been awfully quiet as of late. I've also come up with another idea, in that would it be possible to encrypt the RunOnceEx.cmd in some way. I tried making and exe out of it and running it at T-12 with no luck. I tried lots of different ways to no avail. Regards to all Rik -
I've got a 10Gb system drive and a 6Gb data drive for my VMWare machine, just make yourself a bigger drive and don't used the defualts which I admit are pittifully small. I find it much quicker than VPC, by about 20mins on a full-unatteneded XP + APPS install test run. As for the sanpshot I never used it so can't comment

Also it is worth investing in a good case. Something roomy and airy. A good case will last as long as you do and will probably be able to hold many computers during its life time. Make sure that there is lots of room in side as this helps when putting it together and with air flow. I am currentley using a Lian-Li PC-V1000. A lovely quiet case.

I suppose a licence is better than no licence. Server def. comes 1st. I hope that you get it working again, and it is not terminal (for the hardware). -

What was your old license? I would say that go with V.1 (I'll refer to the code used for the guide as V.1) as a base but, you are wanting to add a GUI and lots more features so I guess this is out. Go with the ideas that MOON and I have already suggested, but one thing I have just thought of is removing the Protection From the UACD. I.e. I have just spent ages creating a zip file, moving all my .cmds to it and altering my RunOnceEx to reflect that the .cmds are now elsewhere, and also adding to my cleanup cmd to remove all the .cmds. I am guessing that V.2 will be alot more user friendly in that I wont have to create the zip and change my RunOnceEx.cmd etc. So basically, to cut to the chase and I looking for a way to go back on what has been done without hand changing loads of my own code to remove the secuirty. Have I made my self in any way clear or I have I just incomprehensibly babbled for 2 paragraphs? Also I read back a while ago about using max processor speed as a value to check, a flaw that I can see in this (and maybe I am wrong) is what happens if the user tries a bit of OC'ing, this will surely change the value of the max processor speed. HTH Rik P.S. BTW don't rush, I know your busy, but I'm not going to be in a position to test any code that you may produce until after the weekend, as I am out and about and my Laptop is not up to the task of running VMWare and allowing me to do other work. Martin, as you are now using the Drinkware Licence, you'd better stick out like a sore thumb if you ever come to the UK So that I can buy you a beer (real beer, not larger). Moon I think that I have found away round the issue that we had at the weekend, but I have to actually try it before I post what it envolves, and that mite be a few days away, if not further, depends if I am away this weekend. Hope all is well with the both of you. -
QuickLaunch Tweak Dont work for me
rikgale replied to tjabocom's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I found that my problem was it definitely needs to be called from cmdlines.txt as Incroyable HULK said. No idea why, but it does just work. -

Looking good Martin! Looks smart and unclutered, which is a good thing. I see that you have allowed check boxes for Msg pop up and protecting 2CD. Can I suggest that in a beta release that you have a pop-up box that when you hover the mouse over check box, explains what it is for. Try and make it id*** proof as possible. Becuase 2CD is a bit ambiguois. You, I and Moon know what it means, but does/will everyone else? -
Help Needed with Win XP SP2 unattended DVD
rikgale replied to Peppe's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
It's a VMWare related Issue as the correct drivers for VGA are only installed once you install VMWare tools and because of this the resolution can not be changed automatically. -

Added SET CDROM= to the top of the list of IF EXIST D:\CD.txt set CDROM=D: and changed the Start %CDROM%.... to START /WAIT %CDROM%...... Now testing again EDIT: NOPE, failure again. EDIT: OK Come up with a new plan, using GUIRunOnce in winnt.sif, call RunOnceEx.exe. Force the machine to restart and then RunOnceEx should be called and all apps installed. Just gonna go and test now. -

Changed IF EXIST C:\PATH.TXT set SystemDrive=C: Echo. %CDROM%\$OEM$\RunOnceEx.Exe EXIT To IF EXIST C:\PATH.TXT set SystemDrive=C: Echo. START %CDROM%\$OEM$\RunOnceEx.Exe EXIT and running the test again EDIT: That made no difference either!
