  1. The Kororaa project has released a live CD demonstrating the new Xgl technology for 3D window manipulation and other unusual effects: "Today I am happy to release a Kororaa live CD showcasing Xgl technology. If you would like to find out what it's all about, then download the CD and boot up your PC! The Live CD comes with X.Org 7.0, GNOME 2.12.2, 3D support and of course Xgl. Supported drivers are 'nvidia' (NVIDIA) and 'fglrx' (ATI). Minimum recommended configuration is Pentium 3 with NVIDIA GeForce video card." http://linuxtracker.org/torrents-details.php?id=1604 http://linuxtracker.org/download.php?id=16...-CD-0.1.torrent

  5. Associate DOC, XLS, etc Windows 2000/XP 1. Launch Explorer. 2. Select Tools/Folder Options/File Types. 3. Click New. 4. Type the file extension into "File Extension." 5. Click OK. 6. Click Advanced, then New. 7. Type open into the "Action" field. 8. Type in the path of the .EXE file in "Application used to perform action." either by typing in a new path or selecting Browse, locating and double clicking the .EXE file. unfortuantely thats the best way i know, otherwise you can right click a file and use the open with and set to always open with. I just drag and drop the files i want to open on the shortcut. Otherwise you can use the full open office and run the installer which will create file associations. 8. did this really happen to you? btw anyone who keeps important pictures, docs, etc on their pc should keep it on second hard drive and back it up to dvd5 occasionally. NEVER install an OS on the same hard drive, even if on different partitions. Hell whenever I upgrade the OS i unplug my data drives.
  9. id like to see an 'xpized' 7zip

  11. I would not trust BlackICE after reading about how it fakes some protection according to GRC. http://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm I'm using Winpooch, which is free and opensource, and I am very pleased with its performance. I like how it tells me what port and ip the application is trying to connect to. Seems to catch everything too.
  12. i think this is the program you are reffering to: http://threadbox.net/pages/kmp anyway, I use and reccomend MPUI. It's a 'Media Player Classic' like frontend for mplayer. Two exe's about 3mb plays everything (almost). check the link in my sig.
  13. thats pretty funny! btw keep opera and firefox out of this ok
  14. well that thread is a little dated. I would suggest Gaim for a multi-IM client. I use Portable Gaim, because it doesnt install anything to the computer. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/chat/portable_gaim As for softphones (voip) i reccomend OpenWengo. http://www.openwengo.org/
