1. It could be a miscalculation error in your router. What do you get if you do a speedtest?
2. I didn't quite catch that one because I can't seem to follow what you were attempting to check?
3. WinRAR... is there really any other way?
4. Isn't there an option (maybe?) in speedfan to shutdown when a certain temperature is reached?
5. I know you can change the PID value to match the disc you'd like to use to install (see example pids), but the ExtraData value has to match as well. I have no idea what the ExtraData value is supposed to indicate or how it is calculated.
6. You want to know what X is? I'll tell you. "It's not a timebomb because azagahl is the only person who thinks AVG has time-bombs." "It's not AVG's fault but azagahl's fault." In brief, you're an id***. Google, the world's largest search engine with over 9 billion pages indexed, does not return a single valid result for "AVG timebomb", yet you believe it to be true. If it were true, the search would return at least one other person claiming the same thing. Proof of concept, doing a quick search of Sony rootkit will reveal hundreds of relevant results. So again, AVG does not have timebombs. Oh and lest I forget, interestingly enough, through all your request for us to provide proof to you that AVG is not at fault... you have not provided one piece of concrete evidence that AVG DOES contain timebombs.
7. And again, I reiterate. There are no time-bombs in AVG.
8. Might sound obvious, but is this a laptop?
9. Thank you Sony for bringing around a new form of viruses.
10. @RJM: I think we both said the same thing in two different ways but of course, we both agree that a 1:1 ratio is always better when possible.
11. It's flawed because I'm talking about upgradeability with technology available today. You're talking about upgradeability with technology that doesn't even exist yet. Did you read the thread at all? First off, take a look at the title and the question... both mention "BUDGET". Second, I already answered that question: Can you prepare yourself to be able to upgrade to every new technology available in the future? Of course not, but you can research and make decisions to give you the most options in the future. That's simply not true. People are still upgrading Socket 370 and Socket A machines, so you're way off on that one. And simply because they come out with a 1333FSB processor in the future that means that a 1066FSB processor is bottom line? Again simply untrue. I resent that. Never have I "pushed" anything and where the hell is the sales talk? So being informative is now sales? You are seriously delusional. So you screw your customers by selling them a $2000 computer of which they will never use it's full potential because it's the "best choice on the market" when they could have saved $1500 and bought something more to the level of what they really use it for? You haven't proved anything, and I haven't broken with anything I've said. All you've proved is that you're trying to win a who's got the biggest penis contest when all I did was try to provide information. So you're saying that even AMD's greatest workhorse can't run little old Windows 98, yet Intel's entire range from Budget to Extreme Performance can all run Windows 98. Nice to know.
12. I should reiterate that not only the video drivers need to be properly installed, so do the chipset drivers. If the AGP drivers or PCI-E drivers are not properly installed, this can have an effect on the video drivers.
13. Infections of NTFS ADS shouldn't be too hard to remove if you run the Sysinternals Streams utility with the command: streams -s -d C:\*.* Unless I'm missing something?
14. 10 points for creativity.
15. Start by fixing your own grammatical errors and poor sentence structure before you start trying to correct others. Also, if you can't accept that people correct you because you incorrectly diagnose a situation, you're in the wrong place.
16. I concur, unless you're going to play THROUGH the router, you don't need port forwarding. It has not affect or bearing if you're playing strictly BEHIND the router (within the lan).
17. What is the difference between 2 methods? /integrate relies on Microsoft's method of integration while doing cab integration is more of a hand picked method.
18. The problem with DDR2-800 (PC6400) is that it's already 1:1 with the CPU FSB without any head room. DDR2-1066 (PC8500) can be underclocked to run 1:1 at 800MHz with the CPU FSB and have a 266MHz margin for overclocking all while remaining at 1:1. That's the same reason why some people choose to build their Core 2 Duo's using DDR2-800 when 1:1 is DDR2-533. Because they can either run it at the native speed or at 1:1 and overclock the Core 2.
19.
...did that guy seriously just copy and paste the entire makecab documentation from the MS CAB SDK and try to pass it off as his own work?
Yea... he did. *shakes head*
20. Something you installed was already infected I would suspect.
21. Best thing to do is to refer to the_guy's list.
22. Can a mod merge this thread with http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=87509 please.
23. Exactly, so that large companies with large budgets (ie: Microsoft, Amazon, Google) cannot override the traffic from independant people (such as MSFN, personal websites, etc).
24. I concur about VMware. Software cannot be said to be at fault until tested in a production environment. All you have to do is look at the bug fixes in the release notes of VMware at each new build. As good as VMware is, it is after all, still an emulator.
25. Just make sure you rinse her off after you're done.
