Provided the driver you are using actually works you may want to try this: Uninstall the drivers completely using Driver Cleaner Pro. In addition, delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\SW key in the registry. Reboot and reinstall your drivers (using the add new hardware cpl if you aren't automatically prompted for them) If it doesn't work repeat the procedure with another version (older) of those drivers until you find one that works. I used an Audigy 2 ZS with 2K/XP drivers in the past so I am pretty confident there are working drivers for Audigy too.

Try to find an older version of the glide64 plugin because the latest doesn't appear to work properly.

Not necessarily, scandisk (or Norton Disk Doctor) will only find bad sectors (in surface scan mode) and a disk may fail without having any bad sectors. And to answer your initial question, you may check you drive SMART values with software such as SmartUDM or Victoria which may or may not indicate a problem with your drive, but here again, a drive may fail without any SMART value being "in the red". Beyond that, there is nothing you can check AFAIK and my best advice, again, if the clicks come indeed from the drive, is to back it up and replace it ASAP.
-
Most probably it is integrated in the 98SE USP:

You hear a click every few minutes? Backup and replace the disk ASAP.

Anyone trying to run Opera 12.10 on their 9x systems through Dependency Walker will get exactly the same logs so there is no point posting them at all.
-
Giant2011, please stop posting those huge Dependency Walker logs!!!

If a 1360 pixel wide signal is stretched to a 1366 pixel wide LCD grid be prepared for atrocious rendering of small fonts and anything that has high frequency detail. However if your monitor allows for adjustment of image width you may perhaps manage to get a 1:1 (optimal) rendering using that feature.

The unnofficial nVidia 82.69 drivers at least support widescreen monitors. Last month my old trusted 19inch CRT that was always on since 7 years fried and I use now a 23inch 1920x1080 (16:9) LCD monitor without any issues due to OS, video card or graphic drivers, installing it was just a matter of plugging it to the 7950 GT video card output.

You must be confusing me with someone else. I am a Windows ME user and have none of those issues of course. There is no backup tool as an optional component of Windows ME setup but it's however available as a separate install package on the ME disc and sure it contains the two tape drive vxd drivers you mentioned earlier. I don't have the backup tool installed now but used to have it some time (long time) ago and don't remember anything of the sort you experience happening. -

I think you have the tape drives registry entries (and associated vxd drivers) only if you install the backup tool at Windows setup. -

Looks like it's setupapi.dll icon 19 that's printed over setupapi.dll icon 20 (the USB icon) for some reason. All icons in System Properties seem to come from that dll. -
Try starting it, Giant2011, the worst that can happen is that the OS will crash and you need to reboot, the most likely however is that it won't start at all.

The files I posted came from the small package linked below, minus the unneeded files plus a missing one and all additionally UPXed by me. I should have realized they were much older, sorry about that. http://openwatcom.mirrors.pair.com/archive/zips-1.3/cm_ide_win.zip -
A bit in the same vein and in case someone is interested I have just made myself a Quick View 2012 with the Oracle Outside In Viewer Technology 8.4.0 runtime using the dlls in the redist directory and the simple.exe application in the sdk/demo directory. It supports viewing about 600 different file formats including all Office 2010 documents and is just about 15MB in total once UPXed. I had been using version 8.3.7 (which didn't require KernelEx) with the Total commander/Lister/Universal Viewer plugin uLister. That runtime is btw the actual descendant of the good old Quick View bundled with Win98. Adding the extra files in the redist directories of the Export runtimes (most files are the same as those of the Viewer Technology) and using the export.exe from one or another of those Export packages, it is then possible to also do neat conversions of any of those 600 document types to text, images, html, mht, xml or pdf. Requires registering with Oracle (bugmenot logins do OK) and accepting the license stating you download only for testing purposes (which sure is what I am doing). http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/content-management/downloads/oit-dl-otn-097435.html List of supported filetypes btw: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/ds-oitfiles-133032.pdf

Runtimes of Visual C++ 2005 SP1 & Up on Windows ME (or 95/98)

No worries, it gave me the opportunity to upgrade those files who were not up to date on my own system, so no time wasted. -

Runtimes of Visual C++ 2005 SP1 & Up on Windows ME (or 95/98)
loblo replied to naaloh's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Anyone up for trying them? I'm feeling kinda lazy right now Looks like mfc71.dll at least is OK (so I guess the other ones are as well), I have briefly run a few programs that are dependent on it without any apparent issues. -
Doesn't run at all because of of a shedload of new missing functions in opera.dll dependencies and from what I can see it would appear that even Windows 2000 isn't supported anymore (opera.dll directly dependent on uxtheme.dll). And it wouldn't surprise me if 10.50 were to drop support for XP as to satisfy the behemoth who gives Opera loads of dosh for the bing search integration. Time to install Kexstub and see if it can do something but I fear that the missing getadapteraddress function in iphlpapi.dll has to actually exist to be able to use the network.

Free/open source: Open Watcom Resource Editor and Dialog Editor Shareware: eXescope Commercial: Microsoft Visual C++ That's about all there is I think. -
I don't think Opera supports mp3 (just as it doesn't support H264 video streams) because it is a proprietary format.

StarRiver, I use Windows ME on an Asus A8V-Deluxe mobo (VIA Chipset). Look at the loblo (II) entry in the post linked below for full details about my system. There are also three other systems listed which are using a 7950GT in that post.
