I don't think its the issue of icon as issue of button take a look what happens when you give Quick Launch icons "large" size usually they should be sized 32px but they are not and this is not issue of icons itself, but OS that forces the button to be over 40px (think its 48px) I'd assume its same crap with language button, icon itself is irrelevant since it should be resizable no matter which dimension it is but button itself may be fixed in size

is microsoft going to bring out windows 9
vinifera replied to krt47's topic in Microsoft Beta Discussion
well if you look at MS strategy from windows dawn age - they forced people to switch due to new OS possibilities // DOS-9x - then stability // NT 5 - then new Hardware (drivers) // NT 6 - now Software support what will be next reason ? -
its called "con" and "mafia"

I don't like metro coz its their only excuse to embed IE deep into system again also metro in long run might be killer for normal apps, since its way of working is downloading it from app store and again it is yet another platform to work for while forcefully abandoning win32 which is superior to that crap

that's because they stiff thousands of little china men into ships and make them work there while they sail toward mainland by the time they come, all the crap with ultra cheap force is done while any other normal nation uses normal factories with normal material I wouldn't be surprised if soon I buy coffee and little chinaman jumps out and offers me their sugar cube disgusting

whooptydooptydoo !! check out new err i mean return of old start menu, this was demonstrated in win BUILD session 2014 http://blogs.windows.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-59-23-metablogapi/Windows_2D00_8_2D00_1_2D00_update_2D00_1_2D00_screen_2D00_for_2D00_media_2D00_UPDATED_5F00_6E6977C2.jpg it seems this will debut in winblows 9 thought, users of 8.1 won't get this my mistake, the the guy presenting it said it will come to users of 8.1 as an update

By "you," you don't mean the people here at MSFN, right? anyone who whines -- @Ponch most likely but only MS would benefit from it usually when OS goes out of support, attackers focus on newly most used

while I'm of 90'es generation but I'd like to travel way back to 60 and live then at least from my folks talk, it was as you said very simple, values were different, friendships important, entertainment was a prize now somehow everything of those is lost sure you have it all "at your fingertips", you can take photos while listening music and watching movie and surfing at the same time from 1 device but what does that tell you what will humanity and socialisation turn into in next 50 years ? will we be like Borg ? all connected to single forced hive and have THEIR thought ?

I must say I miss the old days of HW when I struggled with 550 MHz Intel Pentium, some of the rich kids had been buying AMD Duron that was about 1 GHz while GPU, I had S3 Savage 4 Pro, while some started to buy Geforce 3 and Ati Radeon's there were monthly tests by so many graphic cards in PC magazines it was always a pleasure to read them havin 128 or more MB RAM was science mother boards had 4-5 PCI slots one had to be for audio card one had to be for LAN card one had to be empty because Windows had often problems mapping all slots to work correctly one had to have 56k modem it was a pride to have additional PCI TV card, so one can brag how he filled every slot with some tech stuff - today you get it all bundled integrated in motherboard how boring !

anything regarding PRC makes me vomit whenever I enter a supermarket, like 60% products there are **** chinese crap and worst thing its distributers are trying to hide it big large letters "imported from Holland" at the bottom tiny tiny small letters "origin PRC" god **** you ! whole world will become china soon I live literally nowhere, ultra small town can be called village, and we got 4 **** chinese stores here naturally with **** chinese inside it and like everywhere they are illegaly here, but since mob pays of my s***ty goverment, the suddenly have legal visas, personal ID cards, everything

depends which you can't use components (dll's, exe's) which call for API's that Vista doesn't have
-
I've personally never encountered insecure browser except when I used IE below version 7 for past few years I'm on Opera 11.52 and the only thing that got me was via Java plugin removing that made it all safe back again I use custom hosts file and I never have any problems ...
-
thats a good question hard to tell the insides ... but 1 thing is certain, win7 is more decomponentized than vista does removing dependencies make more junk code or less ? all I know that "under the hood" they changed kernel by some by using "minwin" and ofc the famous "superbar" other than that between vista and 7 I fail to see "under the hood" major change

with XP its same story believe or not my custom nlited XP SP3 with all prettyness enabled still uses ~80 MB RAM cold

needle drives do get affected much too many jumpings around simply makes system snail

never saw slowdown on XP in my life as with any win OS, defragmentation is a MUST cleaning temp files also not using page file also XP can fly for a long time
-
question is... why would you transfer... at all
-
I'd even call XP 64bit more insecure than 32bit as 32bit will be able to use patches from POS Ready 2009, that will have support till 2019 while 64bit loses support much earlier and after that has NO compatible counterpart to take patches from
-
coz there is no SP3 for x64 the 64bit XP is actually Server 2003 recompiled to client version hence why both share same number of SP's

How big is windows 7 before installation
vinifera replied to koden's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
my apology then he sounds sometimes so serious -
you have some weird issues there 1. it needs stupid indexer that nicely slows down whole system, I'd take any alternative fast search over MS's crap 2. how so ? if anything in any NT 6 you have to do 2x more clicking through menus and crap to find simple thing 3. this makes no sense... both 6.0 and 6.1 share codebase, and 6.1 is most polular of the 2, anything that catches 6.1 6.0 will get it for sure 5. looks ? ... if its so more polished why does file manager have all icons in tree crammed up with 1mm space lets not forget the fantastic scrolling left and right or even better - useless taskbar thumbnails that even don't show enough visual info needed or even better than that - good old useless taskbar button grouping - now that one wins "more polished" award
