    X-Fire

nice resurect of a year old topic... anyways.. yea, i've been able to run Yahoo with XFire. although i don't run Yahoo very often, mainly cause i don't like the look and feel of it.
  3. haha nice one.
  4. check to make sure you can ping the other computer and check your ip from the command "ipconfig". also check to make sure you're on the same workgroup as the other computer as this can cause problems as well.

    Jungle.....

    lol nice one.
  6. the rapidshare links are down because they are only kept on their servers for like 30 days, and that timer resets if someone downloads... example.. i put up a file, 29 days later someone downloads it, and it'll stay up for 30 more days.. as for this file, i don't have it anymore. but i could edit it easily if anyone wanted it again. i'd have to get it from glent again thought.
  7. just to add on this. I tried this and worked perfectly. definitely worth using in the future.. Cheers
  8. yeap i get about 25-35 FPS. which isn't too bad. i can feel the choppiness. however it doesn't really bother me. since the 77.77 drivers seem to be workin. i'd say good call on updating. you may want to run a benchmark program like 3DMark and compare the scores.

na they're not needed. they're just logs of the installation of the hotfixes. so they can be removed. however i can't recall if they're needed for uninstall of hotfixes. if you're comp has been running fine and doesn't look like you'll have to uninstall hotfixes remove them if you wish. otherwise they're just like 10KB each per file. so not a big space thing to worry about. i highly recommend running a program called CCleaner (stand for Crap Cleaner). it will clean up files that are cluttering your computer, such as Internet Temp Files, .log files, .bak files. etc.
  10. hah nice. especially the doctor one... kinda makes me wonder about the "And, the lady was a Doctor!" hopefully she isn't one anymore lol.
  11. rofl. i was waiting to hear the matrix theme in the background lol.
  12. hahah thanks for the laughs. ahh the nightmares i'm gonna have if i ever become a network administrator.. kinda inspires me to make an "ID-10-T Cheat Sheet" that i would post at every workstation. like... 1. The Golden Rule - Is it plugged in? 2. If the Computer is on, but the Screen is dark.. Check to make sure the Screen is On. etc...
  13. kinda off topic but am i the only person that checked those websites in trodas "save" picture..... lolz. <--- Pervert

those folders are shown because you have show hidden system files option enabled, and the do not show hidden system files off. these folders are made whenever you install a hotfix and are there incase you need to uninstall the hotfix. unless you're struggling for harddrive space iwould just leave them alone.
  15. *nevermind.. you said you heard the windows log off sound. so that eliminates my idea*
  16. I looked up this exact thing a couple weeks ago. there doesn't seem to be anyway to remove the removable drives from the send to menu. there is a way to "hide" them, by hiding the drives from My Computer in the registry. and you can hide a CDburner by removing the checkbox option to "enable CD recording on this drive". don't know how much use hiding the drives will be, since it probably still reads the drive. and you would be missing out on the drives in "My Computer". heres a site that has more info: http://oakroadsystems.com/tech/winxptip.htm#ContextSendto
  17. this may sound extremely stupid, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of fix on the net until nero updates and hopefully gets rid of it. but my idea, is to run nero from a cmd file then after nero exits have it delete the userimages.bmp file. i don't have nero but the cmd file would look something like this.. note that you have to change the path of nero, as i don't know the location of the exe. For the My Documents: start /wait C:\progra~1\nero\nero.exe cd %userprofile%\my documents\ del userimage.bmp exit For the Desktop: start /wait C:\progra~1\nero\nero.exe cd %userprofile%\desktop\ del userimage.bmp exit name the cmd file nero.cmd and place it in your nero folder and change your shortcut to point to the cmd file insted of the nero.exe file. hope this helps. it should delete the userimage after nero is exited. oh and just a friendly reminder, you may get more replys if you post in the correct forum.
  18. even though you said "no comments about "get rid of IE" allowed.........lol" I have to say from a diagnostic point of view, to install mozilla firefox or Opera, and check the forums from the alternative browser. this will allow us to get an understanding if its a spyware problem, DNS Cache problem, or temporary internet files/Internet explorer settings problem.
  19. rock especially the older stuff like metallica which came out early 90's. I like the new stuff as well, like Static-X.
  20. thanks all. glad to know i'm not the only one lol. mjc, thanks for the link. was able to send the starforce remove tool to my friends so they got rid of it as well
  21. just guessing on this... but if you go to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*random*.default\ theres a file called "signons.txt" that seems to be the password file. i'll do a check now and see what happens when i remove the file and replace the file. *EDIT* yeap, just backup that file, and that should do it. i removed it and my password box was all empty, put it back in and the password box had all my passwords back. since this isn't really verified, such as maybe it checks the file for a created date, or soemthin, i would highly recommend writing all the passwords you have, just incase.
  22. Ok, i've had it. so sick and tired of these software companies that auto install hidden crap behind the users back. Some friends and I tried out a demo multiplayer game, no where on the page did it say it was going to auto install anything. so after we're out of game my computer feels diffrent, so i reboot still same problem, so i shutdown completly wait 5 minutes and come back on.. same thing... finally fired up Vision from Foundstone. (same people that made Fport.. the dos port monitor). anyways.. i find an entry for: "StarForce Protection Enviroment Driver" and "StarForce Protection Helper Driver" apparently the game installed that. I even uninstalled the game, deleted the files, rebooted, checked (they were gone), reinstalled the game (i hate blaming software for something it didn't do), and it was back again.. so just did everything again, and its gone. and my comp is back to normal. but just kinda makes me wonder whats going to happen later with computers.. i mean they installed Copy Protection software WITH A DEMO. OH NO! I'm gonna burn a DEMO to a CD!!! someone come sue me!!. yeap.. not much of a rant, but its a rant. and i don't expect anyone to reply. lolz.
  23. I use UltraVNC when i'm fixin one of my friends computers. but i have TightVNC on my BartPE CD since its only 1 exe for the client and 1 exe for the server. maybe i'll try the Remote Desktop sometime. only used it like 3 times.
  24. hah gotta love false positives. spy sweeper in my opinion is not a very good program, I got infected with CoolWebSearch and it didn't detect it at all, yet it detected a program that I made as "Delphi Trojan" cause it was packed with UPX.. report it to webroot, and hopefully they'll fix it.. btw.. this happens all the time, HiJackThis a popular anti-spyware program gets detected by McAfee as a virus becuase it uses UPX compression as well.
  25. can't really tell you, as i got a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX440. but unless someone else has the same card and has done some testin your best bet is gonna be trial and error. the 6600 is a somewhat new card, so in my opinion it would be safe to upgrade your drivers. but if anything weird happens, like walls disappearing, more of a sluggish feeling. then you may want to down grade your drivers back to 78.01. give ya an example, i'm using the 45.23 (August 13, 2003) drivers for my card, i've heard many people tell me to just upgrade my video card drivers. but in my experience the 45.23 drivers don't cause any walls to disappear for me, hell even steam/HL2/CSS complain to me that "My drivers are out of date". with any drivers above 45.23 walls disappear, or games just randomly crash. so yea.. its mainly all trial and error. the 45.23 drivers are what I use because i got an old card, so don't use them as they'll more then likely slow your card down lol.
