I don't know what went wrong with the Direct Burn option, I've only used it once, but you need a bootable CD, and just simple burning with Nero will not do that. Maybe you could try ImgBurn; I've read through several posts that it works, or try reinstalling nLite.
-
I remember there was a piece of old free software called RegMon which recorded the changes in the registry. So, an install of nLite with Regmon ON will show where exactly it writes changes. Maybe that will help you out.

Is there an ISO size that is too big for nLite to create? I have built many ISO files, which, when ISO optimized, were approximately 3.99GB (although no WPI inside). So, the only thing I paid attention to was that the overall size (compressed or not) would not exceed 4GB, mostly to fit a DVD-sized medium. Yes, it took some 20-30 minutes for that process and overloaded the CPU (Intel Celeron Mobile 1.6GHz, 1MB L2 cache), but in the end they were all working and bootable (on VirtualPC 2007 SP1 x86).

Thank you for the add-on, but it should be posted in the "Application Add-ons" sub-forum.
-
I suggest you check the forum "Application Installs"; you'll find a lot of answers there. You can also try the Add-ons (Located in the "Application add-ons" sub-forum of nLite) which contains some of those pieces of software, and will facilitate your unattended installation. As for network drivers, you can integrate them into nLite, and they will not install if you don't have the appropriate hardware. Enjoy (and use Search)

I create a new account with admin privileges (e.g. JOHN) and I give the same computer name (JOHN again). After the completion of the installation, the user account JOHN has limited, not admin privileges. Furthermore, if I want RunOnce to run, I have to login into the Administrator (built-in) account (which is shown on the Welcome screen). The full name of the user (owner) is always different as it also contains a last name. None of this happens if I just name the computer JOHN1. BTW, there is a new hotfix from MS released for XP x86, WindowsXP-KB956844-x86-ENU. When will you be able to comment on your website whether it replaces any other older hotfix? Thanks
-
Yes, I am. And instead of admin, it has limited account privileges.
-
hm... the only difference I see is that you've set Administrator to Auto logon. I don't use any auto logon, although I admit it's useful if you want to make sure RunOnce will execute. Edit: I don't use WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB973540.exe

Sorry if I wasn't clear: I never touch the built-in Administrator account, it's good the way it is. When I used "Administrator", I meant the privileges of the user. Thank you for your prompt replies, and -X-, we should definitely compare our Last Sessions (or Winnt.sif) to see how you do it.

This is to confirm something I noticed, and want to check if it is true. I recently did three nLite sessions; in the first two, I used the same name for computer and username (e.g. Jake) and in both sessions the username was made with a limited account (although I made to be with Administrator account). After changing the computer name (Jake1) in the third session, everything was OK again. Has this been reported before? Thanks in advance

When you come to the page with Users in nLite, click on the Administrator on the left and on the right fill in the fields with your password for Administrator. That's it.

You can't extract it. After starting the small setup.exe, it will download the Skype.msi to your Documents and Settings/User Name; when it finishes downloading (watch the progress bar during download), go to this folder and simply copy-paste Skype.msi to another folder.

See THIS and THIS.

[Release] FFDShow Add-on 09Feb2014 Rev.4530
Sp0iLedBrAt replied to Sp0iLedBrAt's topic in Application Add-Ons
Updated to latest version 02/09/2009 Rev.3065 by clsid -
I found THIS and THIS, and an installer (the first link) that creates an image on a floppy. Unfortunately, I don't have a floppy drive to see what's inside, and the Extractor won't open it. After half an hour of trying, I am sorry to give up trying to extract it. Download the file, put a floppy in the drive and it will do the work itself. If you don't have one either, ...well... :-)
-
Or use the Universal Extractor to unpack the .EXE files into folders. Then point nLite to those folders. Enjoy
-
Thank you, I will try that. I also have to learn some more on Run2 :-)

Did you install the drivers for your graphics card?

As I noticed after a new install, Mozilla Firefox 3.0.12 (created with this tool) was installed in a folder named "Firefox" instead of a folder "Mozilla Firefox", so after I did an on-line upgrade to V.3.5.2, it installed in a "Mozilla Firefox" folder, which means there are two folders where Firefox is installed. Now what? Can I just delete or uninstall without losing all preferences? Thanks for any suggestions

I recently bought a HP Compaq 615, which has a ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card, and THIS driver. The problem is that it requires .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed prior to the driver. I got an All-in-One .NET add-on from Ryan's forums for integration with nLite, but I want to be sure about this: If I slipstream the driver (unpacked), what is the order for installation during an nLited Windows setup? Will the .NET Framework add-on install first, allowing the ATI driver to continue freely, or I have to find some way to install the ATI driver through RunOnce? I also found an .inf file in the ATI driver which instructs setup whether to check for .NET Framework or not, but I don't want to meddle with that, afraid of other possible errors. Thank you

Does anyone know how to make a silent install for the Catalyst driver HERE for ATI Radeon HD 3200? Thank you in advance
