  1. Use the nLite Add-on Maker (HERE) or run the package from Command Prompt with /? and it should give you the parameters for install. Then use the parameters to make a silent add-on (SFX archive) with 7-Zip or WinRAR.
  2. I always get my FFDShow from one download place, but I won't advertize :-) http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/ seems to be the official page now, but I haven't got around to change it in the entries.ini file. To get newer versions from the above-mentioned page, go to the download tab (last of three) and click on the usernames of the people that participate in its creation; for example, clsid. That's how I got this version (signed by clsid). Hope I helped
  3. Copy file ahcix86.sys to system32\drivers. Import this reg settings REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase\pci#ven_1002&cc_0106] "Service"="ahcix86" "ClassGUID"="{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix86] "Type"=dword:00000001 "Start"=dword:00000000 "ErrorControl"=dword:00000001 "Tag"=dword:00000021 "ImagePath"="system32\\drivers\\ahcix86.sys" "Group"="SCSI Miniport" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ahcix86\Parameters\PnpInterface] "5"=dword:00000001Goto BIOS, set AHCI. Reboot. A great thank you for this excellent advice. I was baffled on what to do, since I didn't have an XP CD with AHCI drivers when I bought a new laptop (AMD processor, AMD chipset and AHCI and ATI graphics), and I had to install it in IDE mode. AHCI drivers were included in the Driver support CD. Most people I know told me I would have to reinstall XP if I wanted to integrate AHCI, but your thing really worked. After rebooting, it recognized the device and simply asked me to point to the folder with the AHCI driver. Another reboot and here I am :-) Thanks again.
  4. I sense this becoming a catch phrase like "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" . Where's Johnhc ? Ponch, you were very good at understanding what that smiley means . Congrats... Still, how can one rephrase what has been so well put by johnhc?
  5. A few questions to diagnose more easily: - did you use individual updates from the MS website or an update pack? -if from MS, did you rename them? -Check C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot\ to see if the security catalogs for those updates are present in the folders and of course, please attach your Last_Session.ini :-) Enjoy
  6. Have you tried THIS? As to presets, I believe each individual is left with a choice what to keep and what to remove, and this is what everyone considers to be the best fpr him/her. However, there are loads of info on what could affect what, like HERE. Try a bit of experimenting. Use a virtual machine and test your nLiteD CDs or ISOs. I'm sure you'll get around in no time. Enjoy
  7. You can only modify an XP source once; don't do it over and over on the same source. Use a fresh copy of your source and use the Last_Session.ini for your previous setting. Add the new patches into the nLite session and you'll get good results.
  8. I personally use Microsoft's VirtualPC 2007 SP1, but there are other free products as well, like VMware server or VirtualBox. I'm sure someone will add more to the list. You can add WMP11 through addon integration using for e.g. info from Ryan's forums or Boooggy. Use search for the rest. Let me just add that none of these changes I suggested will probably change the role of lsass.exe. You can get more info through a simple Google search or HERE, and then try to establish what the problem is (a virtual machine will certainly help). Cheers
  9. Try removing WMP11 with all its updates, IE8 updates and root certificate updates and .NET Framework 3.5 with along with SP1, as they cannot be installed directly through the hotfixes section. I recommend you use a virtual machine to test the ISO before actually burning a CD/DVD.
  10. I was interested in this myself, and I read a few posts on this problem, and the best solution I found is to make a new nLite disc. However, you could try this sub-forum HERE to see which DLLs you need for accessibility options (if present). Good luck.
  11. Check this out. I think it's just what you need. Cheers
  12. This is not an nLite symptom. It's normal for the computer to require a user and password, but you can turn this setting off by opening Group Policy Editor. Open the Run box from the Start menu and type in gpedit.msc. I'll edit this post as soon as I find the exact setting.
  13. The easiest way to install .NET components is through a batch file, not through add-ons as they present a lot of problems in installation. Also, you can find the silent .NET maker where you can include all updates and get a full package for a RunOnce installation. BTW, requests are made in the Application Add-ons sub-forum. Cheers
  14. Yes, from XPSP3 x86, although not still sure which version to use.
  15. No wonder he's having problems; I found this edition through google. Did you know it's made WITH nLite? they even offer the presets (Last_Session.ini)
  16. Everytime I make a new nLite session, I always add the MS hotfixes and updates first, and then the program add-ons in the Hotfixes and Update Packs window. However, I noticed that at certain sessions nLite processes the hotfixes first, and then the add-ons, and in other cases the other way around. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this; it's probably nothing important, but I am a bit concerned if it wouldn't be better to always process the hotfixes first. Any thoughts? Cheers, Sp0iLedBrAt
  17. Please send your last_session.ini (located in your XP source folder)
  18. A big WOW! on your step-by-step description :-) You've certainly gone through a lot of methods, which can be quite boring to write down, and I must say you've even got the Staring part right hehehe. I use the Universal Extractor here and it helps most of the time, as well as WinRAR or the all-time favourite here, 7zip. Keep on the good work.
  19. Since there is no known way so far to slipstream any Office software with nLite, this issue is resolved with installing through the RunOnceGUI section of nLite with a batch file. Microsoft Office 97/2000/2002-XP/2003/2007 or Application installs are the parts of the forum where you can find answers to questions on how to install the Office software. I remember the Office Slipstreamer for Office 2000/XP/2003/2007, so try that HERE. Enjoy
  20. HAd a small mishap, but now everything is corrected. My apologies to those who downloaded in the meanwhile.
  21. No need to say what this is Get it HERE MD5: 43a9cb87ceec3c5be94a82707e3a4a90 Size: 17.04 MB Made with CabTool, tested on VirtualPC 2007 with XP Pro x86 SP3, MD5 sum by MD5 Summer Enjoy
