Do you use DVI at the same time as HDMI? Some cards won't support 2 digital screens at the same time.
-
Or when updates are being installed.I would consider reinstalling XP, but if it is a 3.5 y/o PC it would have Vista normally on it?
-
Still, I would try to set voltage at 1.65v and RAM speed manually at 1333 if possible with 9-9-9-24-32 timings... Looks more that the mobo doesn't do it automatically. So, put the slow RAM in the first slot, second slot the fast RAM, set all memory settings manualy, power off (unplug), pull out the slow RAM and see if it boots when you power on, if not, not much you can do other than trying to update your BIOS. So, how did you get a damaged slot?

do my data risk more in SSD than in HDD
puntoMX replied to colore's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
When moving to an SSD you can still use your HDD as backup drive, so another plus . -
Only thing you can do is to clean the contacts, other than that nothing.
-
Yes I do. a PCI-E 2.1 card should be backwards compatible but I'm blaming your new GF520 for not being, or being defective.
-
I would not do that so fast!- Try to flash the BIOS first - Try the other PCI-E slot - Try to clean up older drivers with a drivercleaner and last option: - Buy a cheap HD6450, like the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125377 (plays even some older games like left4dead2 at 1920*1080 at an acceptable framerate I would not swap the mobo, it was one of the best, if not the best back then!

Is this a good graphics card to start off with?
puntoMX replied to alijayadv's topic in Hardware Hangout
+1 On that, and some brandname 500W+ PSU, as the current one can only deliver enough for a system without a PCI-E video card (cheap 12USD one). The HD6770 should be able to do 1920*1200 in most games at medium to high settings. His bus is 100MHz, FSB isn't used any more, it is called DMI these days for Intel, and that should do 5 GT/s. 1333Mhz DDR3 isn't the best but who cares if the system slows down a 2%. -
It should on that board, but you might need to press TAB or ESC as some Intel boards will have the silent boot and it will show the Intel logo on top of the numbers... but in general it should show indeed.--- I've seen also a lot of southbridges go out (charging too many phones and MP3 players at the same time is something you won't want to do on those boards), and bad caps next to chipsets...

Note that your motherboard isn't PCI-E 2.x so it could be that the GT520 you bought isn't 100% backwards compatible. Since the PCI-E lanes are divided over several peripherals, and so also the SATA controller as I recall, and the video card doesn't like to be on a non PCI-E 2.x, it could mess up things badly. First I thought the videocard was pulling too much juice from the motherboard but the GF520 is a low power consumption card made for HTPC/multimedia. So, if updating drivers don't work, look for a HD6450 or so for 40USD as ATI seems to have less problems with a non PCI-E 2.x mobo.

Get Core Temp for this. Works perfect on almost every modern CPU.

Is the fan connected to the left or right fan-header? Did you check that is is the CPU- and not the system-fan- header?
-
+1, that is what I do too; it will save a lot on cost when a print-shop is nearby.I do have a color laser printer but I want the girls I print to look sharp as well, although the curves are more important!
-
That you can't tell, damaging could result in shorter life as well, and it is hard to tell if it was you or fabrication. When I build a system, and I've build quite a few I must say, I just touch the bare metal from the case (housing) and that should be enough to work secure, but just a small metal object won't do (like a key), it needs some volume.
-
Stannieman from mydigitallife.info gave you the correct answer. For normal applications it won't use the nVidia card but when you run for example a game it will use the nVidia card. As said, check in your device manager and you'll see that there are 2 video devices installed.
-
Do you need to print in color? If not you could get a Samsung laser printer for cheap; they are well made and not expensive at all.
-
Or don't sit behind the screen in a too dark room. Bad or odd lighting can cause tired eyes too, but hurting as in pain under the front lobe is real bad...
-
Most people don't know they need glasses, or need new glasses; I would go to the local optician to check them. Eyes should in no way hurt with an LCD screen, CCFL or not.

UDMA/133 Ultra DMA 6 133MB/s UDMA/167 Ultra DMA 7 167MB/s SATA revision 1.0 150MB/s SATA revision 2.0 300MB/s SATA revision 3.0 600MB/s Don't forget access/seek times (0.1ms) and IOPS, read and write speeds is nice but not everything.

My opinion is the exact opposite: avoid hubs as they bring worries even if externally powered. Use only direct Usb ports. In case someone worries about the available power: a Usb 2.0 port delivers nearly nothing. Like 2.5W guaranteed maximum. Yes, but he was talking about one with and external power source ant thus not pulling anything from the USB ports (hard to tell if they do or not) .

What? No SSD? I would not RAID, just get a better SSD. I have just a simple Kingston 64GB (more than enough for my needs) and I get a WEI of 7.2. Bought also a AMD X6 1055T for 95USD shipped, new, from eBay, WHOHOO!! Those HD4850 cards are not that bad at all. :yes
-
Should be 7.2 to 7.4 , the GTS250 will get you 7.0 to 7.1.

Fast Internet - Slow DNS Lookup While Downloads Are Going?
puntoMX replied to Redhatcc's topic in Networks and the Internet
I had these problems as well, and it was due to my ISP not giving much connections, has also nothing to do with down and up speeds. I say limited number of connections is your problem. Nothing you can do, not even local QoS will help, it's your ISP to blame. -
On that motherboard you can use both 667 and 800 (PC2-5300U and PC2-6400U), up to 2GB for each slot, however, due to chipset limits you can not run the 8GB PC2-6400U at that speed and so the motherboard will lower it to PC2-5300U (667MHz DDR). Just to make things simple as you are no tech, get the 667MHz PC2-5300U, you can get them cheap on eBay for example or at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148236 get 2 or 4 sticks (with 64bit OS install).
