  1. So, what is the model of that motherboard? Let us start there first.
  2. Better your money than mine . But that is costume key images, and has no touchpad. Same here. I'd be buying a Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate today if it had a slight bend in the rows like Microsoft does in their "comfort" series keyboards. It sucks having to chose between nice, niiiiiice switches and a comfortable layout I might still order one sometime soon. That looks like it will work for more than 3650 days of heavy use indeed, nice industrial look, nothing shiny, no bling, just plain cool! Too bad it has no prints on the keys (kidding, smack me )."A noise to annoy the hell out of people you work with"... Just missing the bell, WHOHA!
  3. Indeed, that was what I said too, 12*100*40=48k USD, but that would include 1200 keyboards as well. I pay for a mold here 6000USD for each type of plastic material used and after that it's cheap to pump out thousands.--- However, no need for rerouting on hardware level, all keystrokes can be captured in the OS and given another input code so it looks like you have a custom keyboard layout (correct me if I'm wrong). I would use a touchscreen as keyboard and program that (have it programmed), but I can't get used to the non-mechanical "keystrokes" (personally).
  4. How many do you want to order? I think they will accept an order above 100 boxes of 12pcs, with touchpad and all I would say some 40USD a pc, plus shipping and import cost. If you are saying just one keyboard... no idea.
  5. Well, I tried to set it, but the only way I see is to change it by hand to .com after a search. I could be missing something. Default language is set indeed to English . You keep it by flat media, like those pizzas (besides the calzone (calzon is used for underwear in Spanish )) . Good stuff, and so is your help here.
  6. Those are hard to find as you already noticed; ASRock was showing off with their front USB 3.0 "connector", but that's the only one I know of so far. by the way, for HTPC, altrough it has no USB 3.0 front ports, check out a AMD E-350 based board (APU), review here on AnandTech, and a board from Gigabyte here. When I have more time I'll dig trough the ASRock site to see if I can find some info .
  7. Well, it s´cks that google likes to change it servers to the country you are in, giving way different results . I prefer Teh Cristal Ball to get additional information of what connections are used (eg. HDMI, VGA, DVI).
  8. Look up wireless HDMI.
  9. The 512MB is the max you will get out of that chipset, it will slow your system down if you do so. Have it set at max 128MB and for that chipset 64MB would be more than enough; older games will still run like HL2, Farcry, NFSU and some more.Updating your video codecs and chipset drivers could help, alo check what is running in the background (didn't Coffeefiend say that?... must be ). Upgrading to a modern series 5 ATI video card will do wonders . Coffee, it's a X2 4000 Socket AM/939:
  10. I would: Check HT, disable it to see if that helps. Also check the RAM with Memtest86. Check for fan settings in the BIOS (I think the board has a fan on it) and set it to always on / 100%. Just my thoughts .
  11. First I thought you were talking about a different tablet device, you know, the hyped ones . So, it's a drawing tablet, I see. I used them 18 years ago for CAD applications, for just a year or so. Great that they still use the same chip for later model and different brand ones, I wonder if Genius uses the same chip also. Any way, happy for you that you have your new "toy" running after years.
  12. All normal what you saw there; as I remember you can manually select the partition to shrink IF there is enough space, so, in this case the program did it for you and decided that D was too full so it was better to move D and shrink C, or you picked C to use its space to make that recovery partition, one of both.
  13. Hard to say if this is hardware related, the fastest way would be testing it with a clean install. I would backup the stuff that is needed and format that system, after cloning/imaging it so you can restore your old setup quick if a new install didn't help. Re-seating the video card could help too. Cleaning out the CPU fan and checking the RAM (with memtest86) would be also a good start.
  14. So, still thinking of upgrading your hardware? Sure you are but it can wait now, can't it? Always nice to see that a f- ... messed up computer works better, hehe.
  15. What I've seen, Vista and Windows 7 still give that same clicking/parking sound as with XP. My desktop system with Windows 7 clicks/parks 3 times before turning off (Seagate 7200.11/AMD SB750/ACHI BIOS). Note that it doesn't only rely on the OS but Also the BIOS of the motherboard, firmware of the controller and firmware of the drive itself. The only thing I can say is not to worry about it and when it fails just replace the drive and reinstall your OS with your programs. Needless to say that everybody needs to keep their important info on 2 or more separated media . Now, if it really was a problem, think about that the drive could be loosing power or not having enough power; take the drive out and put it back in a few times till all the contacts are "scraped clean" from oxidation.
  16. Personally I use always fast compression when I use the same drive (Acronis with its "Secure Zone"), if you have a second drive just do an one on one (clone). There isn't much risk Jorge, just set that brain on zero and go for it! You know that people that replied to your problem, well, the Word problem, agree all with each other to kick that Norton with a Norton Cleaner, reinstall office if needed and see what happens there. Swapping hardware won't get you much further. I don't recall the brand of your harddisk, I asked you once and you gave me an answer but it got lost here; the reason why I asked is that Acronis can be free with some harddisk brands. I use it on my, the best harddisk out there, Seagate 7200.11 (there, I said it and I have to watch my back now when I walk in the streets ). Jorge, where do I begin... Listen, we are here to help you out okay...So, benefits... So, you would like to have that safe feeling, I can give you some tips on that, here it comes and you know what is the best part? It doesn't mess up your PC, let you use your PC without paying some randsome, yes, darn program kidnapped your PC and it looks like it even kidnapped it's user, yes you, and I'm not kidding here. For safe browsing, and even faster browsing (read better DNS response) use openDNS; You can set what pages you ONLY want to visit, block webpages you hate and filter for the "unsafe" pages. Free and powerful... For fast virus detection with the best virus database, and believe me a lot of AV uses it even Norton, you use Microsoft Security Essentials; simple and good if not the "best". Free and powerful... For firewall you use just the integrated firewall in your OS, and if you really want to protect yourself use a router and enable the firewall in it to... For anti spam and such, use GMAIL, yes it scans your emails and could add some textlines to it, but hey, it's the "best" out there, again... We are talking about solutions BEFORE crap comes to your PC so your PC doesn't have to do all that filtering and scanning. What I saod above is just me, I'm sure that others can provide you with even better options as Norton is just an alternative for the not knowing users. What more... help me out here, but I'm sure we can help you with the best user experience! Yes I know, I'm just a lousy salesman; if I was a good salesman I would have stuffed you with a new version of Norton 360; better, faster, more bling AND the best part, NOT for free so money in my pocket, hell, better buy a new PC with it with enough cores and speed to get it all smooth working. You are learning, and so are we from you, so don't get this as an insult or so .
  17. Naa, you got that wrong there, fast compression can save minutes.
  18. David, when you have no problems with your hardware than leave it as it is; Updating a BIOS could be risky, do something wrong and you will render your PC (portable) useless (hence, some motherboard manufacturers place 2 BIOS on one board). Welcome to the forums by the way, but change the animated avatar please (or I have to do it ).
  19. Just to clean the trash and leftovers on the harddisk, NOT to mess up... err... clean up your registry .
  20. Jorge, not to be negative or so, but upgrading your CPU won't help for loading your MS Word 2007 files that much faster and I thought you wanted it for that . Sorry to respond so late but I had problems posting and a post got lost with that too; I wanted to point to a Celeron E3500 that should be in the 45USD range but I see that companies over there have gone up with their prices (their gain looks now like 35% if not more!), also wanted to point you to a E6700/6800 CPU as well, but like I said it's not going to speed up the thing you want to speed up. A new system you already pointed out is not going to happen and also not a new install (and that was needed if you changed that motherboard to an AMD based one), just... please consider a image and/or backup of your current information on that HDD and go for a clean install, really, no other way .
  21. Second though on ACHI, leave it as it is or windows will not even start up ; You can do that after you kick your installed OS. Well, the users on my public computers, kiosk like, have administrator access and control over that computer. So, even that I leave them the options to mess up the whole system, I never had to reinstall Windows 7 on them. The antimalware I used is Microsoft Security essentials and before that One care. That was what I meant to say .
  22. Indeed, better live with it or replace it with another board, and better not Intel branded. If it goes AWOL than look at ASUS or GigaByte .
  23. Waste of money Jorge . It won't load faster word files by adding "faster RAM", it will only shave off a few seconds tops. keep the money in your pocket, same with Norton products and other anti malware stuff they sell for 30 to 50 USD a year, just use the free stuff like Security Essentials and only that. I tell you something, I'm using windows 7 in public places with admin access for the people that use them and they haven't killed an install in one year, Security Essentials is installed on them and before that I had AVG Free on them. Now, to load things faster enable ACHI, that could help with multiple files loading at the same time, you could also check if you could upgrade that CPU a bit and place a "Wolfdale" cored CPU on it. But, you know that the bottle neck isn't the CPU nor your HDD but pure software based. Hard to say what is better besides keeping the money in your pocket and reinstall the darn system .
  24. Hard to say, but check out this picture I borrowed from another site: See the 3 under the VGA/DVI connector, they are taller than the metal colored ones. Most of the time they pop there but also next to the chipset cooler. You could try a PCI-E video card .
  25. Well, what would you do with the 1GB modules? And do you really need more RAM in there? What are you going to do with it?
