    IE7 slow.

What does the fact that it's new have to do with whether or not it is fast? Zxian, JCarle could code you a new simple program and it would be fast. I don't see your logic here. Anyway... IE7 needing a hotfix so it can "be fast"... *smashes IE7 with a hammer and expresses rage after rage* Use Opera.

  3. I wish people would only reply with comparison info on each OS instead of simple replies of why their OS is best for them. That doesn't really help others.
  4. Eyeball, ok let's set up a time and date here. You want to see how secure a router is and I'm curious as well. I'll give you my IP address, remove my second drive so the only data you will get from me is my installed programs. You try to make your way into my system by whatever means and let's see what happens. I'm curious to know if you can get through.
  5. Who can't agree that Norton sucks? *Looks around suspiciously*
  6. Yes, with a single core it is fine. I tested my AMD 3700+ (2.2 GHz) yesterday with PuntoMX. I ran 35 processes; encoding, virtual machine running, DVD playback, and 10 or so other programs open, then I played BF2 with maybe a slight drop in FPS. That's it. So that being said, I don't know why people think they need to go spend money on a dual core system and a $500 video card just to play their favorite game while doing 2 or 3 things in the background. I just did it with one core.
  7. You're very welcome.

  9. I'd say Norton needs to totally re-write their software up to about 5.00 version numbers before they can be considered "slightly decent" again.
  10. I really don't see the purpose of defragmenting flash drives, since it's solid state storage and not a platter spinning and being read from by a mechanical arm. Anyway, normally the Safely Remove Hardware applet should control the USB devices as far as mounting and unmounting go. Have you tried Googling "USB device won't unmount" or something?

  14. You can't just import all the Hives overtop of the existing ones, they are being used by Windows. You would have to boot to CD and copy the hives from whenever they are stored to C:\WINDOWS\repair or C:\WINDOWS\config, not sure which folder it is exactly. But you would only do this if your registry became corrupted somehow.

    M.S Scan Disk

    I would imagine chkdsk.exe.
  20. Either use a System Restore point back to when you didn't have this problem or do a repair installation of your OS with your Windows Install CD.
  21. This might resolve your issue.

; Modifying the Autocheck Time-out Value NTFS ONLY When Windows is not shutdown correctly it will perform an AutoCheck using CHKDSK on the next restart. This setting controls the time delay before running Autochk or whether it is run at all. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager] "AutoChkTimeOut"=dword:00000002

    RAM

Download SIW. Use it to check what type of RAM and what speed it is. Also check to see the maximum speed supported by your motherboard. But yeah, someone at a tech shop would be able to help you.
