  1. Yeah, what's the IE scipt errors? Nice that you are making something I've wanted for ages but Driver Genius 2005 Pro works for me each time.
  2. This just in, Recuva.
  3. While that would solve everyone's problem from the get-go, we simply don't live in a perfect world. *Dreams of all the wonderous possibilities that would exist in such a place*
  4. Double Driver (incomplete but freeware, sometimes doesn't backup the entire driver properly) Driver Genius (Not Freeware but best I've found) Also old ones like Driver Magician and a few others you'll find on SoftPedia. Driver Genius is your best bet, unless you know how to write a script that backs up the DLLs/EXEs/INFs/CATs. If you do, I'd love to have it.
  5. First I've seen of that. Have you associated your e-mail address with the Windows Live Passport?
  6. That site has reviews and user comments on firewalls that are based on a lot more than just leaktests. I only mentioned that one aspect of that one firewall. Maybe next time you'll see the bigger picture and revise your attitude towards someone simply providing information.
  7. I assume you haven't taken time since November 17th to do any Searching on this forum and others, as well as Google...
  8. Maybe because they've never heard of it or it sucks? Comodo passes all known leak tests. The point was to provide you with information and let you know there is an excellent firewall that is freeware that you should try.
  9. This isn't against the rules, is it? lol... it's still funny.
  10. DigeratiPrime, you were the one who introduced me to R-Studio. Remember all those Star Trek episodes it recovered for me? Where have your loyalties gone?
  11. Subcodec, a drive that is used for only storage/backup needs less defragmentation than an OS drive. Once a new file is written to disk for storage or backup is made, that must be defragmented. OS drives constantly need defragmentation which is where Diskeeper 2007 comes in handy as it is automatic. I've almost forgotten what fragmentation is nowadays; been using DK2007 so long. ProjecTK, not sure. I have a lot of Services removed with nLite and then most disabled and DK2007 functions normally.

    TinyXP

    nLite pwnz all.
  13. Is the CD actually scratched? Sometimes the smallest of particles or smudge on either the CD or the drive's lens can prevent proper read from occurring. Usually in those cases you can polish the under-surface with a smooth cloth or use compressed air towards the inside of your CD/DVD drive and allow successful read. Also if you Google most .DLL files on Google, it provides a download link in last-resort situations. Try copying the contents of the CD to your HDD and using nLite to create a new bootable ISO.
  14. FinalData or R-Studio. FinalData will take take 12-24 hours on a 160GB drive, R-Studio a few hours. They are not freeware but they are the most thorough and effective data recovery software I've come across.
  15. Site does not work in IE or Firefox and shows a blank page with nothing but ads in Opera.
  16. You mean any of my questions. I have no intention of trying this because: A. I do not use Windows 2000. B. I have removed the many-years-old obsolete defragmenter function with nLite. C. As I have stated, DK2007 does everything for me automatically and waits for available resources. No need for anything else.
  17. What do you mean? There's a store not far from where I live that has 2 of the 3 items I want. I will save $66.13 in total by getting them from there instead of online @ NCIX.
  18. http://www.matousec.com/
  19. What was the last version you used? I find it to be quite accurate. Something does pass 80C in my case, and it is my video card because when I put my hand on it, I can't for more than about 1.5-2.0 seconds because it's so hot. The NV Silencer is for the video card. The AC 64 Freezer is for the CPU. The Thermalright is for my chipset.
  20. It's a standalone EXE that's 3.6 MBs. Technically, it doesn't belong on the list but it is a very good freeware alternative.
  21. For Internet Explorer, security issues have existed that were patchable to eliminate the security problem; unfortunately crippling functionality has often been the result. Show me an article of some sort to back this up.
  22. Agreed. Avoid Diskeeper. Why? I've been using it for months. My fragments is 0. My fragmentation level is 0%. What's your logic other than simply agreeing with someone says? Why do they dislike it? Do you even know if your reason and their reason are the same? Explain yourself.
  23. You mean Arctic Cooling, not Silver. Yup. One minute after playing, it went down 15C. That would be the chipset fan and its losing its bearing I think because not only does it sound like a miniature aircraft landing, the buzzing sound it now generates is extremely annoying. I cannot wait to replace it with that fanless Thermalright.
  24. Does VirtualBox support basic networking in XP? I'm running a default vanilla XP Corp in it and can see my local workgroup but don't see my local shares listed. This is essential for what I'm doing right now and I can't seem to drag&drop to/from like in VMware. If it's currently not implemented that's fine. I can go back to VMware until it is. Just wondering, though.
  25. Have you ever heard of a false-positive? Are you sure you don't have a prior infection to downloading it that's injecting itself into your files? I believe Kaspersky counts all the files it scans within the executables as well. So if you have 5 EXEs and they each contain 10 source files, Kaspersky will report 50 scanned files.
