  1. True and using nLite to integrate drivers and add-ons while removing unneeded Languages, Drivers and Keyboard Layouts to save over half (50%) of your install size is very fast and efficient compared to other methods. However, I'd never recommend to a general user to go through nLite as they are bound to screw something up and p*** on me for recommending it. Do it for them. Lol, I had to call in to Activate my mother-in-law's copy of XP Home last weekend. That was the first time I did that. Was interesting.
  2. It's Kaspersky Anti-Virus. I suggest you use the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool. That will allow you to reinstall it and thus deinstall it. I've recently switched to Avast! 4 Home Edition while I contemplate actually purchasing Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
  3. No, probably wants to make it look like IE B)Shame on him!
  4. You should be able to have both. Windows XP with XPize for appearance, managed Services, start-up entries, tweaked OS, good software and hardware for performance.
  5. ....... If you're inquiring what I have almost gone to hell and back trying to interpret what you're inquiring, it is as follows: "Why is it that when I attempt to open any given application that I receive the "Open With" dialog box? At first I thought it may be a virus, however after doing many malware scans, I was proven wrong. Would anyone be able to assist me with this problem?" It isn't a virus/spyware problem. It's a registry problem. It sounds like the registry entries (specifically the file types information) that tell Windows how to treat executables have been removed or altered. If you have a System Restore point for when EXEs worked fine, try that. Do a repair installation of your Windows operating system. If you have a recent backup of your registry, that would work best.

If you have a memory that bad, then maybe you should have someone else replace your RAM... LMAO, that carried over into the perfect humor. Nice guys!
  7. Well it's not hard to mention good malware programs. Those applications have been around for many, many, many years. If you search any search engine or forum for "spyware" or "malware" you'll be overrun by enough repeated information to make your PC BSOD. Everyone seems to think doing one small fix will clean their system entirely of any/all malware. Not the case. it takes several programs and many troubleshooting steps to fight off today's malware. They also seem to think searching isn't necessary for they have a unique circumstance or that they are the first ever to get what is called "spyware" so they create a thread called, "omfg infected comp hlp me plzzz!" and fail to provide any information other than "my pc is infected, what do I do?" What do you think you do? This is moreso a rant than anything else. It's not directed at you, Grafx1, just people in general.
  8. Wow... is't that easy? lol, just kidding I must have had a blond moment.. despite my hair naturally being dark brown.
  9. You may ask, "Google?" lol Linky
  10. Is there a way for me to install Windows 98SE without using a FDD?
  11. Yes, I did, because even general users can do those things. You don't have to be a techie to use Adobe or VirtualDub.
  12. Please provide a screenshot of the error message. Also, check your Event Log for DX errors. As well as any DirectX.log file under C:\WINDOWS.
  13. $400? That's a bit expensive, don't you think? There's a lot of good motherboards for much cheaper than that, come on...
  14. Your HD isn't under warranty? Both of my Seagate's have a 5 year one. I'd get another Seagate. But that's just me.
  15. You really need to ask this question? Attempt to copy all of your important files to another drive ASAP. If it won't work correctly, put your drive in the freezer for 20 minutes or so, then try again. You need a new harddrive. Boy, I can't wait until technology allows us to move away from the mechanical-based HD.
  16. Try the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool.
  17. Bored?
  18. Yes, jv16 PowerTools 2006, and once it is released, 2007. Some people say registry cleaners do more harm than good. That's true for a lot of them. However, I like to think of jv16 as special. It receives cache updates one every week or two that make it safer. As long as you don't remove registry entries that pertain to the CLSID you should be fine.
  19. Agreed. I check FileHippo, MSFN, and two others not allowed here.
  20. What a sad read this was...
  21. It isn't a "Nuisance", it is a security measure. It isn't a requirement, it's optional. If Windows required you to reformat and reinstall each time you wanted to change even the smallest of settings, it wouldn't be much of an OS now would it? Whatever happened to a little manual research... tsk tsk...

  23. lmao! But yeah, 1 font all-over would be better IMHO. I know some people would consider that like eating only one color of Skittles all the time, but that's why 0 and 1 exist.
  24. Crahak, excellent post. Mind if I quote you on my web blog? You've basically made the best statement I've read in ages. Cheers.
