This should be a sticky.

I totally agree and understand what you are saying. It's just that I've seen many people with broken features or compatibility issues after using IE7; many more than those who say they like it. Sure I could go easy on M$ but they waited half a decade before trying to make a new version of IE and only did so because people were liking Firefox and Opera more. Had no one said anything, there would likely still only be IE6 with dozens of Windows Updates. That's the way I see it. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me.

Hmm, I should have kept a list of the topics on MSFN and NeoWin where people say that this or that stopped working properly the moment they used IE7. IE7 is just IE6 with tabbed browsing and seemingly problematic for a lot of people. M$ recently made a silent fix to the phishing filter as well, which causes a lot of problem for people, especially where I work. No, thanks. Opera for me.

Exclude the first option and you have a good recommendation there.

Do you access Microsoft Office from a mapped network drive?
-
Try reinstalling the software.

Start > Run > regedit, browse to the game's registry location, right-click - Export, save as. Battlefield 2 is provided by EA Games, so in the registry it goes like this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2
-
Install it and update it. Then make an ISO of the Program Files Folder and Application Data folder if necessary and any other folders that it requires, then export the registry entries. Burn it to a Dual Layer or store it on a second partition or external HDD. The next time you reformat or whatever, just extract and import.

A repair installation is what you will want to do. All it does is reload all of the system files and files needed for proper functionality back onto your system and resets the hardware configuration to match your new hardware. Your games and personal files, software and settings will be untouched.

The human mind is capable of things that may never truly be conquered by science. I've experienced a lot of unique things. Telekinesis, precognition, telepathy, I've made myself hotter and colder at will and used to play a telepathic color guessing game with my gf (wife-to-be as of August 11th ). Most people only believe what they see and experience themselves. No one simply goes by intuition or the "gut feeling" anymore it seems. I suppose I'm just generalizing, though. And incase you were wondering, I don't smoke anything, do any substance/chemical, or even drink coffee. I prefer being 100% aware and cognitive of my surroundings and situation. I drink maybe twice a year but other than that I dislike anything that damages my health and/or perception.

Go into My Computer, right-click on your local disk and see what it says after File System:.

I've already suspended the HDDs and with some similar cutting I believe I could easily have both HDD suspension and a fan. Although my average idle temperature for both my HDDs is 40C so I'm not sure if a fan is necessary. I try not to regret things in life as I go by the philosophy that everything happens for a reason, in addition to the "butterfly effect". But I won't get deep into that here. Live and learn for me. Cheers.

Yes, I'm aware of that. They also focus on the design, the pros and the cons in an unbiased manner, the before and after temperatures, the mounting system of the heatsink, any incompatibilities with other motherboards, how close it comes to other components depending on the mobo, the truth behind the marketing of the product, etc. On numerous occasions on CPUs, GPUs and chipsets. I'm also very careful with it. I push very slowly on it so it comes out a quarter of a millimeter at a time, once it reaches the length of your average grain of rice, I stop, press that against the copper surface, pull it back so it doesn't continue to slip its way out after being applied, put the cover back on and in my desk drawer it goes. I take a small piece of plastic wrap, put it on/around my finger and smooth/smear it over the entire (yes even the edges) surface. Then on goes the heatsink. If you're not careful, then I suppose it would resemble the mozerella stick you compare it to.

Use CCleaner to clean the caches/junk files on your system. Use PerfectDisk or Diskeeper to defragment it. Use the registry tools in jv16 PowerTools 2006 (soon to be 2007) to maintain order in your registry and defragment it once a month or so. Contrary to popular belief, I have experienced a slight performance increase after doing this. Use Ad-Aware SE (to be 2007 RC1 in March or May), Spybot, Windows Defender, and CWShredder to cleanse your system of spyware. Use either Avast (freeware), Kaspersky or NOD32 (both payware) for anti-virus. For software firewall, use Comodo Pro (freeware, which is the best one out there; passes all leak-tests). With FileMon you'll want to exclude many processes and narrow it down to IEXPLORE.EXE and organize the listings by type so you can get a clear list of files being accessed. After careful analysis you will be able to track down what's causing the pop-ups if the above suggestions don't clean your system and optimize it, which is extremely doubtful as that is the best software to use. I'm sure this will help you. -
You'll find the best reviews for heatsinks on SilentPCReview.

You can overclock without increasing the voltage at all and even reducing the voltage from what I hear. Ask Zxian.

Possible Solution For Pop-up Message: Local Area Connection A network
Jeremy replied to nnicko's topic in Windows XP
You're using MSN Explorer? You must be one of the few users on the planet still using that out-dated, built-in with Windows trash. Use Opera or Firefox. Glad to see you figured it out. I believe only mods and above can make stickies. -
Why are you doing this?
-
That doesn't look too bad, actually. Ripken, check out my most recent post on my SPCR topic here: Linky Can you post a picture of your better mod?
-
Then... by "other component" I'm going to assume you weren't potentially referring to the CPU.

Scan your system with Avast! Free Home Edition v4.7 to clean out any viruses, then use Ad-Aware, Spybot, CWShredder to clean out any spyware. Afterwards download SP2 from here and install it.
