  1. Hi guys. Yip, all clients are Windows XP SP2 (As per MS installation CD) and were updated via MS Update. (Therefore there is no XP SP1 machines - not even to test with) cluberti - Yes, all branches is connected to Head Office (PARENT) via VPN over ADSL. (WAN) Every branch's DC is a GC. We are experiencing very bad ADSL connectivity issues @ present between the CHILD-1 branch and Head Office (PARENT). This unfortunately prevents me from running any tests/checks on machines at the CHILD-1 branch domain(site)... I could do a DCDIAG test this morning @ the CHILD-1 DC , prior to the "disappearing" bandwidth issue... The DCDIAG, stated the following:- [PARENT] DsBind() failed with error 1908, Could not find the domain controller for this domain.. Warning: PARENT is the Schema Owner, but is not responding to DS RPC Bind. [PARENT] LDAP bind failed with error 31, A device attached to the system is not functioning.. Warning: PARENT is the Schema Owner, but is not responding to LDAP Bind. Warning: PARENT is the Domain Owner, but is not responding to DS RPC Bind. Warning: PARENT is the Domain Owner, but is not responding to LDAP Bind. ......................... CHILD-1 failed test KnowsOfRoleHolders All the other branch DC's (CHILD-2 & CHILD-3) seems very "happy" on this matter... Opening Active Directory Domains and Trusts (on the PARENT DC), shows the PARENT and CHILD domains (CHILD-1, CHILD-2 and CHILD-3) However, trying to view the PROPERTIES on the CHILD-1 sub-domain, all tabs (windows) states:- The Active Directory object could not be displayed. A referral was returned from the server. I'm a bit lost on this one. Any "ntdsutils" commands that might save the day? Thanks in advance
  2. I have an Asus P5B-MX/WiFi-AP mobo running Fedora 7 (2.6.22.7-85.fc7) with the Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) I have installed 1.) alsa-kmdl 2.) alsa-lib 3.) alsa-driver 4.) alsa-utils 5.) alsa-tools speaker-test -c6 -tw only plays through the left and right channels. speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -s1 -f75 replies with - ALSA lib pcm.c:2144snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM surround51 Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory I've ran alsaconf and made sure that all the channels are unmuted and at full volume via alsamixer... I do get stereo sound with the (green) speaker output. Yet, I can not get the (mic) pienk and (blue) line-in channels to output sound. Therefore no surround sound effect... Is there a specific build I have to do to have these "input" channels change into "output" channels?...
  3. Hi, We have a PARENT domain with CHILD-* domains at all our branches. All servers are Windows 2000 and is currently up to date as per Microsoft Update. Client machines are Windows 2000 and currently we are replacing these with Windows XP. GPO processing works perfectly with the 2K clients, yet not with XP... Whenever a user or admin account logs on, EventID 1006 is displayed, followed directly by EventID1030. GPO are not applied.... i.e:- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1006 Date: 10/12/2007 Time: 6:38:18 PM User: CHILD-1\Administrator Computer: STORES-1 Description: Windows cannot bind to PARENT.co.za domain. 4. Tomcat76, Here's the HFSLIP.CMD from SOURCESS\i386\SVCPACK HFSLIP.cmd.rar
  5. Hi Kiki, Here's the log... No joy to date though Only change was to "pre-slip" WMP11 with "WMP11 Slipstreamer", yet same results with the silent installers HFSLIP.log.rar
  6. Would be nice if I could do the same to users .... Thanks, will try it No-one with any idees on how to get through InstallShield?
  7. Any advice on Intel GMA drivers which will install correctly after final GUI bootup, once "integrated" into the DRIVER.CAB? INF's done via DriverCabHelper. Haven't done the OEM method though....
  8. Strange ...... The latest trial run did not *miss* the Winnt32, yet did **miss** all the silent installers within HFSVCPACK.... What am I missing with the silent installers.... Is my logic correct: "Simply put some of RyanVM's software into the HFSVCPACK folder.... and run hfslip to incorporate these packages...." Where am I loosing it? Only difference being that I am using hfslip-1.4.3 in regard to 1.4.2 previously.
  9. A1: Nope, it is NOT a multiboot configuration. When prompted for the path, I simply pressed enter... A3: All drivers (SYS) with INF's where placed into HFEXPERT\DRIVERCAB. Compression type used was A.
  10. Hi all, HFSLIP-1.4.2 bombs out during the Graphical Part of Setup with the following Windows: 1.)Caption: \winnt32.exe Body: Windows cannot find '\winnt32.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. 2.)Caption: \SVCPACK\AcroRdr8.exe Body: Windows cannot find '\SVCPACK\AcroRDR8.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. etc... etc - with all other updates The HFSLIP "cmd window" states: 1.) The system cannot find the file \winnt32.exe 2.) The system cannot find the file \SVCPACK\AcroRdr8.exe etc... etc - in conjunction with the "GUI Windows" as they popped up. Winnt32.exe is within the i386 folder, as well as the other packages that are within the \i386\svcpack folder..... After logging on the first time, another window stating: Advanced INF Install : Error: could not locate INF file 'c:\Windows\INF\wmp11.inf' which I can't even locate within HFLSIP's SOURCE or SOURCESS..... What to do My HFSLIP.LOG file is included - Any idees pleasse as to why this is? Second Q; Can someone please direct me to a link that would assist in the "repackaging" of software packages to be silent at times of installation?... Third Q; Anything special that has to be performed to allow Intel GMA X3000 drivers to HFSLIP (and install) correctly?... (DrvComp.exe and DriverCabHelper.exe was used to update all system driver INF's). They install perfectly from the DrvComp/DriverCabHelper directory ONLY AFTER OS installation. Finally; How can the Asus WiFi AP Solo (Azurewave) drivers be extracted from the Installshield package....? (UniExtract 1.5 simply queries whether I am sure as to what I am doing, yet can't extract the files) Even the web downloads are all Installshield packages Lotsa questions, yet the assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the effort guys... and any gals if applicable. Slowly I'm getting there.... Thanks a mil
  11. How deep can the DRIVERCAB folder currently be made...? i.e. HFEXPERT\DRIVERCAB\Audio\Realtek\ALC883 \Camera\Logitech\QCX\ELCH \Camera\Logitech\QCX\Pro3 etc Will HFLSIP-1.4.2.cmd parse it correctly? or is it limited to ONE subdirectory under DRIVERCAB? Should it be limited to only one subdirectory, are there specific "naming conventions" to be used?
  12. Hi, Is there a policy that anyone is aware of that would prevent "traveling users'" from synchronizing offline files with the server when they establish a VPN connection. This being as some users have offline files totalling over 3GB, that then wish to sync with the server the moment they establish a VPN connection.... I am aware that this can be prevented by running "mobsync" and "configuring" not to sync on certain connections. This have to be done manually at each machine and checked every time a new connection is configured at that machine. The same problem is experienced when "traveling users" work temporarily at a branch where there is a site-to-site VPN connection between the branches. As their local LAN connection allows for synchronization, massive amounts of data is then "synched" between the branches. Preferably these "traveling users" should be using their local offline file cache, until they are back at their respective branch. Any idees please?

  14. Hi, We have four branches connecting via ADSL VPN to the Head Office. Each side has an NetGear DG834GT ADSL Router and Windows 2000 is acting as the VPN server at each side. From a VPN perspective all is working 100%. Yet, as we do not have our own static ip's for mail hosting, the mail server is situated on the Net at our ISP. All four branches could VPN to Head Office and use their local ADSL connection to retrieve e-mail from the ISP or browse the web. Now for the second time, the one branch can VPN to Head Office, but can't retrieve their e-mail via the ADSL... From this "faulty" branch's VPN server, I can VPN to HO and connect to the Net when directly on the server. Yet any client machines behind the VPN server can not connect to the internet. (In the past they could though). Any packets send to the Net is simply terminated at the near side of the VPN server. Pinging the far side of the VPN server allows for ICMP replies, yet NO packet GOES NO FURTHER... The "Enable IP Routing" is ticked within the "IP tab" under the Routing and Remote Access Properties. Even the "IPEnableRouter" is set to 1 within the Registry. ISA server is NOT installed at any of the servers, with no funny firewall.... I am aware that VPN dial-up clients is NOT allowed to do "split tunneling". (Intranet and Internet at the same time) But this is a site-to-site VPN setup, of which they could connect to the Net via their ADSL connection and VPN to the HO in the past. Now I can't fix it.... Any guys/gals with knowledge out there to help fix this? Will be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi, I've got a Windows 2000 Server which just doesn't want to update it's time correctly via "time.windows.com" or our "local" "tick.nml.csir.co.za" or "tock.nml.csir.co.za". The event log keeps on spitting the following out:- Source: w32time Event Id: 14 "Attempt to set time which differs by more than 12 hours aborted" I've followed the registry adjustments as per Microsoft to the word, and configured the time manually to be in sync. Yet I am still receiving this Event Error.... Should I adjust my local time zone??? to ... coher with another time zone. Yet my users will not dig it. P.S. My server's time zone is: GMT+2:00 Harare, Pretoria - South Africa
