  2. I think vcBlackBox is done with NCab, otherwise he would have said something by now. It is a great tool. I'll never "update" to v7.0 bloatware and Nero is very small now...

  4. Not every harddrive is going to be perfect. Some drives are going to be bad, regardless of the brand. Someone whose had a harddrive literally combust into flames will forever be telling people to stay away from them, judging purely from that one horrific experience. I have a Western Digital IDE 120GB which came with my Dell 2 and a half years ago and I haven't had any problems with it. If the harddrive goes bad, I'll RMA it and get a replacement one free. I'd still go with whatever those guys at Anandtech recommend and my confidence in their ability to single out a very good product will not be diminished simply because any harddrive from any manufacturer has the potential to just die on you...
  5. Anandtech's Benchmarks "...even though two of the three drives that we reviewed today have 3.0 Gb/sec SATA interfaces, the 1.5Gb/sec drive topped both of them in most of the benchmarks...." "...the WD4000YR took the lead performing 769 IO operations per second under the Business Winstone 2004 test and 505 IO operations per second in the Content Creation Winstone 2004 part of the test. Seagate's 500GB 7200.9 came nowhere close to these numbers, but rather took a few steps back." "The WD4000YR also performed the best out of the three in the application load time tests with applications starting at around half a second faster consistently, which is a big deal. With this test, we were not only testing the specified application load times, but also general access times and service times. All of the physical specifications of the WD4000YR tell us that it won't perform as well as the two 500GB models, but our benchmark results say otherwise. Those of us who are familiar with hard drive technology know that the higher transfer rates that the 3.0Gb/sec models have to offer can only be achieved when multiple disks are striped, but we never thought that a 1.5Gb/sec unit could out-do those with double the theoretical transfer rates. Currently, the WD4000YR is going for as low as $213 at certain online retailers while the Seagate 500GB 7200.9 and Hitachi 7K500 are going for $350-$400. If you're not looking for a future-proof product and want quick performance for a low price, the WD4000YR is the way to go. The performance of the 7200.9 is just not up to par to recommend at the moment. It may quite possibly give much better performance in a RAID array..." All that being said, I'd go with the Western Digital x2 in Raid0.
  6. They should have just made an .AVI file out of it....
  7. If I ever see anyone aiming a weapon at a cat, I will severly injure them. I can't even imagine what I would do if anyone had ever done that to my kitty... Anyway, cute pic of him in the sink. My gf's cats do that, too. They are big fat snotty cats... but they're still fun to maul. B)
  8. It's not an issue of it being in use by another program. It can't even be read from the physical location of the disk. Possible a bad sector? chkdsk for sure...
  9. Best Media Playback Setup: 1. Media Player Classic 2. FFDShow 3. CoRoNe's DirectShow FilterPack 4. QuickTime Alternative 5. Real Alternative Result = Smooth playback of every format you can imagine.
  10. ISP = EastLink Download/Upload = Several MB/s, 128K (I think) We pay $50 a month for Cable, phone and long distance in a bundle.
  11. I'd sell one if I had one, because I don't need one and I'd make some extra cash.
  12. LOL, can't wait to watch it! This is like those "SpeedGaming" videos. Half Life 1 in 45 mins, HL2 in 2 hours and some odd..

  15. I love kittens/cats. A few years ago I used to have this black and white kitten, who I thought was the most adorable thing I'd ever seen in my life. I named him "Baby Kitty" because he was the runt of a litter. He was all grown up but still looked just like a kitten. One day I let him out of my basement-bedroom window to go outside... and he never came back. I still cry today when I think about how cute he was, and when he used to sleep between my legs (no perverted thoughts please) when I went to bed, his cute "meow" and constant rambunctiousness. I'll always miss him. Ohhh OhhH!! I remembered I have a videoclip of him and his step-brother fighting, and a few of just him. Check out the cute pics (and especially the ones of the fight.) HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE aren't they so CUTE!? (not a question, ) If the images are too many in quantity, mod please feel free to redo them as links. I just wanted everyone to see the images the first time around instead of clicking 10 times. It's a tribute to our pets! .... I miss my kitty....
  16. Opera = secure, customizable, powerhouse out of the box.
  17. Mercury, honestly, I don't see the point in you posting after CoRoNe seems to have taken the liberty of fixing the guy's issue with some small resource-efficient filter configuration...
  18. The Tweaks section in nLite is all I need. I find it to be more useful than any website because it is a collection of dozens of tweaks provided by several people from all over the place. Only the worthy ones make it into that "database". Go nLite!
  19. Start > Run > "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" (without quotations)
  20. Yeah, build your own. Don't get a Dell.
  21. Aegis' question was not answered yet.
  22. I tried it in Opera v8.51 and it opened a small empty window with "CT" in the title.
  23. Is there another name people use to refer to boot files?
  24. Download and install Sygate Personal Firewall to monitor incoming and outgoing. Also, download and install Kaspersky and do a full system virus scan after you've updated the virus defintions. Finally, use Ad-Aware SE, Spybot v1.4, M$ AntiSpyware, CWShredder v2.19, and HijackThis and post the log file as an attachment on here.
