  1. Had that happen, but only in Home Edition. And I don't think it has anything to do with nLite. I tried on Home vanilla and it didn't even have Remote Desktop, I downloaded and installed that client thing and it said it was already built-in, which is a load of crap. If you truly want RDC, use Pro. I love Remote Desktop. I use it at college. But the thing is, since you remotely log into your own PC from another PC, it's essentially the user account, so if someone else is on the PC and you RD, you kick them right off and force them to re-enter the username and password of that user account. If they happen to know it, they can terminate your RD connection. I'm just telling you this incase you've never actually done it before and want to. By the way, just so you know, however means you go about acquiring a copy of Pro and still want to use nLite, the only thing you need to keep to have RDC is the Terminal Services. Have fun. Need more help? PM me. @InTheWayBoy, nLite is of no danger, it's how inexperienced and unaware the user is. I have done trial and error so many freakin' times with nLite, I know exactly what I can keep and toss. If a file I need is in a component I remove, I just put the filename in the Keep Box. There goes the component, there stays that one file I need. XPLite used to be dangerous, resulting in at least a dozen random errors that the site provided no knowledge of. They've updated several times since I last used it, so hopefully they've smartened up. In no way does XPLite even compare to nLite, though. nLite is far beyond XPLite in pretty much every way. To make a long story short, of course newbs will blame hardware and software issues on nLite if they remove 99% of the components with nLite. I know lots of stuff in there can be pretty specific. They have to know what they are doing! If they do, like I do, it is sooo worth it. I have 60+ programs on my FTP and the only one that complains from something removed by nLite is MS Office. It complains of missing ODBC files. It will give 5 seperate error messages during installation, but you can ignore them and still the applications. I surf the net, view streaming media, watch videos/movies, encode stuff once and a while, chat, game, listen to music, defragment, etc... and the only things I didn't remove in nLite were : If this is too big, mods please change to link, I'll remember it for next time when dealing with images of relative size.
  2. Don't listen to Ripken, he'll tell you to buy the most expensive of everything regardless of what your budget is.
  3. AviSynth is for advanced users who have the patience to type up scripts. The majority of people that use it are super-picky or have bad source files. Make sure you have good source audio/video, then you don't need to bother with it. I do admit, though, some of the plugins for it are top-notch and better than the more popular features in commercial applications. But, I don't think it's worth it in the long run. BeSweet is awesome for WAV > AC3.
  4. I'm in A+ right now at CompuCollege. This stuff is challenging. We just did a quiz on IRQs and another quiz on CPUs and L1/L2/L3 cache. My friend knows it all, lol, but I seem to suck.
  5. Amazing how technology can bring us to our knees, eh?
  6. XP Pro SP2 RyanVM Pack v1.3.1
  7. I tend to like the freeware DVD authoring tools that work just as well as the payware ones. However, my favorite authoring tool is TMPGEnc DVD Author. As for editing, Adobe Premiere Pro is the best I think. Pinnacle, Vegas, etc, all suck I think.
  8. Use Ad-Aware, Spybot and M$ AntiSpyware. These are the best 3 ones. This is not a biased opinion. Even my instructors at college (where I learn about hardware and software) use these.
  9. DaemonForce, a new version of nLite was just released and I consider it a milestone in nLite's history. Once you realize the power of it and it's benefits to your OS, you'll be surprised. Don't be so tempered towards things in Windows, far worse things in life. Cheers.
  10. Zxian should be a mod. I recommend him for pwning others.
  11. Thanks for your unbiased opinion. I've heard enough. I'll pass. I just finished Call of Duty... holy...
  12. To save yourself countless CDs, use Virtual PC.
  13. Probably because hardly anyone here has the system specs to handle the bloody thing...
  14. I have CoD and install CD1 without problems, but when it asks for CD2 and I put CD2 in and click OK, it just asks for CD2 again. Any ideas of how I might be able to edit a file or something to make it install the rest of the way? I'd like to have an error-less backup of this game...
  15. No offense intended, but I've never seen someone so desperate for cheat codes before. lol
  16. Wow? I have a 9800 Pro, good news for me?? Not that I was ever complaining about the framerate. As long as it is greater than 29fps.
  17. Streaming Video Capture Programs From VideoHelp Take your pick.
  18. I tried IZarc out once and switched after 5 minutes of using it. I tend to stick with stuff that's a bit more *heard of*. Most people use WinRar, 7Zip or PowerArchiver.

    MicrowinX Poll

I voted for registry cleanup since I'm still curious of FDV's progress with his. I thought maybe someone with as much time on their hands as you seem to have, you could lend him a hand. Otherwise, I don't care.
  20. Like I've said a billion times. Different people have different preferences. That's why there are different OSes, programs, bands, genres, brands, topics, sections, etc. People use Windows, people use Linux, people use both. The world keeps spinning. End of bloody topic for frig sake.
  21. I've only called Tech Support twice ever. It was when I first got my Dell Dimension 8300 back in June 2003. (nowadays). I've upgraded components since then, but I still have the Dell mous, LCD monitor and 4 surround-sound speakers. Anyway, I do have an interesting tech support story of my own. The second time I called the Dell tech support, I was having problems installing a device driver. I called them up and someone "foreign" answered barely understanding English. I could hear the guy turning pages in a book as I was explaining the problem. I was pretty much stuck and asked him if he had any ideas on how to help me further. No answer. I asked again, no answer. I literally stayed on the line for 5 -10 minutes listening to silence. I thought for a moment he was so busy flipping through pages to find me an answer that he didn't notice me requesting his acknowledgement. After a few more minutes I asked one last time before hanging up if he was there. He finally responded back saying he had been waiting for me to give him further information.... I said i would somehow fix the problem on my own, said thanks, goodbye, and finally hung up.
  22. Uhm, if you're using XP Pro, just use the built-in Remote Desktop feature...
  23. It's probably generally humorous enough to get laughs from non-gamers... downloading now. Edit - lmao, that was awesome. Couldn't believe the Circle of Life theme song from Lion King in there, lmao.
