  1. Use PerfectDisk. You can do an Offline Defrag which will defragment your MetaData, PageFile, and System Files during next reboot.
  2. Possibilities
  3. Sure there is. Go buy a legal copy of XP or borrow one from a friend if they have a legal copy.
  4. Happy Birthday and Congrats.
  5. I cemented a 10 foot wall, 6 feet thick at v6.6.0.18. All I do is burn Data DVDs, occasionally copy a rented movie, and burn nLite ISOs to a CD-RW. My Nero is also NCabbed (everything removed).
  6. I don't know what this "choke" thing you're referring to is... (and I have Steam installed)... I guess I'm just tired.
  7. If it isn't really warm to the touch, then it isn't overheating. If it is so hot that you instantly have to take your finger off it as fast as you put it on, then it is overheating. A common sign of overheating on a video card is strange artifacts occurring (even outside of gaming, but mostly in). Sort of like when you play an old Nintendo game and you bump the cartridge and lots of blocky crap fills the screen... like that.
  8. Dunno, but anything over 30 FPS is more than enough for gameplay. I know how people can be picky, though. I'm getting a GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB for XMas..
  9. Not worth the money. The movies were enough.
  10. Goal in Life = Have better computer than Ripken. LMAO
  11. Nice, Corone! Thanks!
  12. Reminds me of when M$ released that Windows Update that wouldn't let you into Windows if you were using a priated copy with the infamous "FCKGW" CD Key...
  13. AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (PuntoMX is going to help me OC to somewhere around 4400+ - 4600+ with the stock cooler.) 2x1GB OCZ PC3200 Dual Channel DFI LANParty UT NF4 ULTRA-D Mobo GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB 2x80GB Seagate SATA NCQ (Going to use RAID0) Razerzone Copperhead Blue Mouse OCZ 520W PowerStream PSU. Antec P180 Case BENQ DVD Writer Dual Layer 16x Cool, eh? It's already been ordered.
  14. Video card overheating? Defragment your harddrive lately? Use PerfectDisk!.

  16. Go into Folder Options > Click the filetype, click "Advanced", click "Open", click "Edit", browse to WMP (I suggest you use Media Player Classic ), click OK. Click Change Icon, browse to WMP executable, click icon you desire, click OK. Finished. Fixed?

    Desktop

Sounds like explorer.exe doesn't load. CHeck for it under "Processes" in Task Manager. If it isn't there, browse to C:\WINDOWS\ (via the File > New Task) to check. If it isn't there, then it was either deleted by someone or you possibly have a virus infection. Let us know.
  18. Vanilla XP (My "XP Home SP1 Reinstallation CD from Dell") takes up almost 1GB, but not quite. It takes up about 215-220 MBs after I nLite it. Which OS is better... whichever one you find yourself most comfortable in for what you want from your PC. I personally like XP Pro.
  19. Why go to all the hassle when you already have Pro? Pro has Remote Desktop! Also more Adminstrative features and domain support. Save yourself the hassle.
  20. I edited my post, Prath. Nice evaluation of many AV software.
  21. Natan, I don't care how many stars I have. They can reset my counter to 0 and my personality and attitude do not change. I do not like it when people try and force their personal opinions down others' throats just so they can sit in their comfy chair and feel that much more confident in their software, whether or not it is supposedly the best or not. I have never heard of Sophos before. Don't you think that a person who constantly looks at comparisons and reviews provided by links from dozens of reputable websites and knowledgeable people across half a dozen forums would have heard of this best in the world AntiVirus. You get easily offended by someone stating a different opinion other than yours, and when it offends you, you bite back with a very personal comment such as telling someone to get an education without even knowing anything about them. You wanna get wild with me? Take it to PMs. I never said I was trying to act like a moderator, but I do know a thing or two when it comes to software. I also know a thing or two when it comes to arrogant people like you. Now, the two most popular AntiVirus according to this thread are: Norton and Kaspersky. Let me tell you a little story: My girlfriend's relatives have a single computer without a router or firewall. They had Norton installed, had it all updated, Auto-Detect, Live Monitoring, etc... taking up lots fo resources with about half a dozen Services running. I figured I'd uninstall that and install Kaspersky. When I scanned with Kasperky, it found 330 viruses! Where was an updated auto-detecting, live-monitoring Norton AntiVirus in this PCs desperate time of need??? Ha. I love the interface of Kaspersky. It updates more frequently than any AntiVirus I have ever heard of, and did a **** good job of cleaning out all viruses detected on the infected PC. Also takes up less reosurces by a lot. By the way, thanks to Zxian for frequently backing me up, (even though I don't need it but appreciate it ) and thus letting me know when someone potentially has a problem with something I say, whether it is civil or just plain idiotic. As far as education goes, I'm in college training for A+ Certification.
  22. You've been impatient, and not given everyone who might be able to help you a chance to check out your issue. You then create another thread in the wrong sub-forum. I understand how bad you want nLite to be flawless, but you need to be patient... You stated in the other thread that you didn't even know where the uxtheme.sys patch was in nLite, and then claim that it doesn't work for you... I'm confused. You should start over from scratch and be careful of your selections. Look at everything in nLite to make sure it is as you want it...
  23. Daz, why don't you stop asking so many questions and go read some stuff on your own? A 600W PSU will do you fine. I'm getting the 512 and the 520W. www.anandtech.com <will tell you lots.
  24. I'm getting everything new for my PC except for the keyboard, monitor and speakers. I have 4 speakers and a subwolfer that came with my Dell PC 2 and a half years ago. I only use two of my speakers, though. I don't really desire "surround sound". I have no complaints about the sound at all. I sometimes listen to music with the speakers but usually I use my headphones, and with gaming. I have no problems with the sound in any of the games I play. Someone told me that getting a new sound card would also slightly increase my framerate in games. I told them I didn't think that was significant since I'm getting a GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB for X-Mas. So my big question is: Do I really need a new sound card??? Thanks, Jeremy
  25. First impressions pwned you? DFI is AWESOME. Hands down.
