  1. Apocalyptica!
  2. Ok, ok, fair game. Well, it's been established that not many people like Dell. How about we have people specify the brands/manufacturers of the various parts in their PCs? I have AMD, Antec, BenQ, OCZ, DFI, and Nvidia.
  3. It sucks because you don't know how to properly maintain your PC as to prevent maajor inconvenience? Or you just happen to be one of those individuals who maintains databases and installed SP2? I have a friend who had to revert to SP1 because M$'s SP2 screwed up more than it fixed. I used to suffer from a lot of problems back in the day before I knew what I know today. Now I'm telling everyone else how to fix their PCs. I don't have any problems because I've had easy problems and hard-as-hell problems that took me days to conquer. Also, after using nLite, XP Pro is awesome.
  4. I consider it quite relevant to the topic, actually. The more users that help other users realize how crappy Dell is will hopefully influence more and more users to use their heads and build their PCs and feel good about what's inside their case, instead of worrying how long it will run before overheating.
  5. Uhm, doesn't sound like a bad hard drive at all. Dust
  6. 1. Take your case outside, grab your can of compressed air, and unleash a storm. 2. Clean out all the fans, and if necessary, replace them. 3. Have a strong 120mm fan to blow warm air out of the case and a 80mm fan blowing cool air into the case. 4. Re-arrange the cables in your case, use twist-ties, elastics, whatever, bundle them into empty drive holders or in corners. Having as much out of the way as possible can literally make a difference of 2oC in your case. 5. Upgrade your CPU heatsink, but make sure it is compatible with the socket and that there is enough room for it, so it is not blocking any needed slots/connectors on your mobo. 6. Use Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste for your heatsink. Put 3/4 the size of a grain of rice onto the center of the CPU, put a small piece of thin plastic over your finger and spread it over the entire surface of the CPU. 7. Vacuum the room frequently. Dust collects, too much dust can conduct electricity. Also, do not keep the case on carpeted floor, put something non-conductive under it or put it on a desk if it isn't already. Hardware wise you might consider new parts, including a case. I recommend getting: The Antec Sonata II The Antec SLK2650-BQE Mid Tower The Antec P180 Mid Tower You might try and locate those cases on tigerdirect or newegg. Thje reason why I recommend Antec is because the cases are made nice, the included fans and strong and quiet, some come with a built-in PSU, and Antec makes good PSUs, and Antec just plain and simply knows how to make good cases. Cheers, Jeremy
  7. I hate the look of that case. I once promised a man that the day I saw someone with that case, I would personally smack them around some. lol
  8. I, too, was a gaming freak growing up. I didn't play Metroid or Sonic, but I did play Zelda and Mario. I was a master at Goldeneye 007 in the day. I mastered Zelda 64, too. I could sit infront of the TV for 8 hours non-stop and just play. When I had a friend over, it was even better. Nowadays, being a 20 year old with a girlfriend, college and a job, I don't have as much time for games as I'd like. I play exclusively on the PC now, though. Half Life 2, Garry's Mod, Call of Duty was cool...

  10. Dell sucks. Custom Build All The Way.
  11. One of those moments, eh?
  12. Use Media Player Classic, QuickTime Alternative v1.42 (future versions take up a lot more HD space), Real Alternative.
  13. I've used both SnagIt and HyperSnap DX and HyperSnap wins by quite a bit. HyperSnap has a more easy-going installer as well. SnagIt comes with a bit too much integration for what the program is essentially supposed to be. That's just me. Choose for yourself.

    Movies

I'd say 3/10 of my posts have a word count of 3-5. And yes, walking on the chickens is a no-no. Milo persists on irritating the chickens during his adventures with Otis. I'm surprised those poor chickens don't have rickets from enduring the weight of a freakin' cat walking all over them.
  15. That works, too.
  16. HyperSnap DX or ScreenShooter

    Movies are cool.
  18. UltraISO is better than MagicISO. I use UltraISO.
  19. www.imdb.com
  20. Maybe he's enjoying Christmas away from the PC...
  21. OCZ PowerStream 520W, it's what I got and it is a beautiful PSU.
  22. It's also not a good idea to have your case on a carpeted floor. Isn't this wonderful. Don't vacuum, you get dust-clogged fans. Vacuum to reduce the dust, and you short circuit your PC... lmao... such paranoia. We vacuum our floor regularly, and my gf/s crappy dell case sits on the carpet and I've even bumped her case with the vacuum and her PC is fine. Like I said, paranoia...
  23. I don't even use AA when I play games. I tried it with HL2 and it seemed to make the image look too soft for my liking...
