i think they can not be compared because desktopx2 does many more things than samurize. thinking in features i will choose desktopx2, thinking on show system information i will choose samurize because it takes less resources.

well let me start saying that it's to soon to buy a 64bit processor (there still isn't a proper OS!! and in consecuence there aren't 64bit programs that use this technology). maybe in 3/4 years, think in a future update, and then those processors will be 3/4 times faster. and now intel or amd?? my guess: amd and i will explain why intel has the most powerfuls processors that's for sure, specially in multimedia benchmarcking, the problem it's that comparing quality/price they loss for a lot. the processor is expensive and more expensive it's a MoBo with intel chipset. amd has slower processors but they are very cheap and MoBos are cheaper too. their processors are hot like hell but expend some cash in a good fan or liquid cooling and problem solved, both still cost less than a p4. in this part i will answer, what chipset??? well another time expend a few $/€ and buy a nforce2 based chipset. why?? because they have the hability to lock some frecuencys, take up some voltages... (talking about overclocking). in conclusion AMD+nForce2 will be cheaper than a P4+Intel but will be less powerful... for the pci-e, amd is not thinking in it now, as in ddr2 or similar things. for now this is not too important because benchmarcking on pci-e and ddr2 are not giving a critical perfomance increment. finally, taking up AMD vs P4. i will choose particular hardware: 3000+/3200+ and A7N8X/-E /Deluxe. look for caracteristics of them and choose the one you like. overclock your cpu frecuency 0,2/0,3ghz and it will faster than a new p4. aren't you sure?? check down my hardware and check here the results, my current system it's faster than a 3.2ghz p4 extreme edition. hope this solve you some of your problems and answer some of your questions. if you think i'm wrong on any point please let me know

hitting F5 (refresh) did not solve the problem?? try disabling active desktop (there is an option called "hide my desktop icons when active desktop is enabled).

uffff i thought a lot until start writing, this looks like an old thread about firefox vs. iexplorer i still haven't tried thunderbird because i use hotmail (i know i know but more of my accounts are registered there ). but in general terms i think mozilla products are secure and stable and if you miss something like customization give it a tray and wait for a couple of versions (talking about my experiences using firefox).

i've got an integrated intel 82810 graphic card. i'm solving problems with my unattended cd. the graphic driver (6.7 i think) is installed perfectly and i can see the tray icon on the taskbar and the driver version it's correct but... in the control panel, the intel .cpl utility does not work. it prompts something like "The driver for this control panel applet is not currently running or is not available." mmm.. i guess it's like the catalyst control panel that it's not installed together with catalyst drivers. any ideas??

yes, windows .scr files are protected. prove it deleting for example ssmarque.scr and see how it is restored seconds later. and yes they are vital system files. why?? because if i'm a "bad mad ugly person with intentions to create a virus" i will choose to replace ssmarque.scr with my .scr file this will cause that my exe code can be run if this screensaver is activated. if you want to delete system protected files you will need to replace the .dll change the registry setting, delete WFP files, replace dll with original and change again the registry setting or your system will be vulnerable.

don't worry about it. i remember that sp1 came out in spanish a couple of weeks after the english version (still it's annoying that there isn't a multilingual release date )

@jrzycrim thanks for reply. i'm sure this file it's part of stardock plus! program. in it's description "MCPServer". i don't like things that got in their names "Server" and specially if i do not know what the hell it does. i'm not having any problem with it but i hate loss 3mb of system resources if i don't know it. tip: probably it's got together with the weather objectdock plugin.

my idea it's to create a thread to remember which unnecessary processes with no utility to common users can be killed. they only take system resources and are useless. feel free to add the one you know to the list, ask what they do or how they can be killed. for example: I use msconfig.exe to stop startup applications or use Startup.cpl. System Processes MDM.exe (Machine Debug Manager) ctfmon.exe (Relative to Office language bar) Startup Programs atiptaxx.exe (Ati PTA utility) NeroCheck.exe (Nero Filter Check) Annoying Tray Icons CloneCDTray.exe (CloneCD icon on the taskbar) qttask.exe (Quick Time tray) Useless Services Ati2evxx.exe (ATI Hotkey Poller) CTsvcCDA.exe (Creative Service for CDROM Access)

also there it's a worm that uses the name of Isass.exe (note that the first letter it's "i" and not "L"). Lsass.exe it's a critical process of windows and can not be removed.

if your problem are the associations you can: -press shift while right clicking a file that show a hidden option (open file with...) then select the program which you want to open and tick "always use ..." or -in folder options>archive types, modify them like you want to do. finally i have to say that i've got an A2 (Bulk) and i use the ZS programs and software (including media source) and i've never had problems, althought i do not use them offen, THX, EAX, DTS consoles and speaker configuration it's a must have.

i will choose diablo 2, it's a very good storyline and the way that they introduce the expansion and so. baal rules offtopic: any information about diablo 3?
