i found that someone used the varilight mod for doom3 and added this funny texture. varilight adds a light to many weapons of the game but i think this breaks the realistic of some hidden places, so i added it only to the default by d3. to install, simply place the .pk4 in doom3\base folder taken out from some thread on the www.polycount.com forum, so if you are the author please ask me to and i will give you the propper credit pak999.pk4

i've got a conceptronic bluetooth usb device, it uses the same software as msi's. i wonder if it's not compatible with the new SP2 if so... any idea to solve this?

was me here and the source from M$ also i have tried to install sp2 rc1 on my spanish xp, you simply have to copy your installation xp cd and overwrite the files with sp2 ones. this leeds you on serious problems to bypass during installation. after them xp is installed but of course all menus are in english and you should encounter many versions incompatibility problems and program crashes. be patient there is not much left until the sp2 comes in your language

i still haven't been able to bypass this with a silent switch... anyone?

@Bi0haZarD about the drivers updates of ati, i must say that in the last 5 months i've passed from catalyst 4.1/.2/.3/.4/.5/.6/.7... and now they have released beta versions... 4.8 beta specially optimized for farcry and 4.9 alpha optimized for doom3... final versions will be out on middle september. i must say that download 30mb every 3/4 weeks ... but anyway it's pleasant to see that problems with actual games are solved in a short of time. if you to see how often the drivers are updated from ati and nvidia check omega radeon archive. ps: waiting that call

i have to agree with my country-dudes on everything. it's natural that english sp2 was released before anyone, what it's annoying me it's that if i'm speaking any "rare" language that "only" millions of people are speaking everyday i have to wait 2 months!! this means that when sp2 will be released for example in portuguese there will be MB of updates waiting for me on windows update!! that is why i copied that special part of the article. @devil270975 i have to correct you because if for example in spain from 40.000.000 millions of people, 5.000.000 are speaking english (note that this amount of people its many more than in reality), only 250.000 can speak and understand english perfectly with computer terms. @godan, i think you don't know much about the world, M$ it's a multilingual corporation with interests in all the nations of the world and because windows it's the most common OS all over the world they HAVE to release multilingual versions of their updates, what impress me it's that they only release updates in 26 languages there are many more on the world. @devil270975 i have speak about this with an admin on MSFN he answer me that german it's the second language version more selled of xp followed by indian... my conclusion it's that M$ have to release an english sp2 version first but if i've bought XP with the same price as any other one in the world, why i must wait 2 months to have the same as a "speaking english guy" (note that everyday sasserS grows )??

PCI-X it's not an alternative (for now). many benchmarks shows that with nowdays hardware it doesn't increment the framerate. the problem with new gpus it's the memory or core limit and refrigeration not the bottleneck on agp8x. the only advantage i see it's that future motherboards will be equiped with many PCI-X and in a future (maybe many years), you could use 2 gpus in the same mobo, same like the old voodoo2 sli connection

@XtremeMaC i remember seeing a page with comparatives of radeon 9600s and i think google-ing it could give you a good result if you decide for example for the 9800 chipset. 1.- 256mb ati 9600? (because there is not much difference between prices) 2.- 128mb ati 9800 se? (only if i know that it's a card with 2.2ns memory (can be modded to 9800pro), club3d for example) 3.- 128mb ati 9600 xt? (this is pretty good if it's from a good brand. the 9200 it's a little "slow" for nowdays games) personally i preffer the 128XT, there is not much difference between ati PRO and XT (the only one it's that XT have a chipset that shows card temperature) but the XTs have normally 100mhz of core more. this means that a 128XT 500/300 would be faster (in general) than a 256PRO 400/300. finally note that the XT models in ATI are the fasters but nvidia uses the XT model as the low-market model. hope it helps

yep, i doesn't think that the early english release of sp2 it's a problem. i of course preffer a multilingual release of sp2 and i must desagree with i mustn't be thankful, microsoft releases different languages because you know that all the world don't speak english and MS won't lost $ from non-speaking english countries.

@XtremeMaC i would choose a shappire card. the problem it's that the price goes over with this brand. for 200$ i will select a shappire atlantis radeon 9700/9800 pro 128mb.

i would choose an ati card, because i hate the 5X00 series of nvidea (specially XT ones). and if i had enought money i would buy a club3d 9800se because they are the cheapest/best option. with 2.2ns memory you can use the modded drivers to turn them into a new 9800 pro card without problems. about +/- 100€

sorry, i think light up the game lost some of realism. i personally preffer change the gamma from 1.0 to something like 1.2/1.4
