  1. i have DOS 5.1 someplace.. not that its used.
  2. Cheers B0rk As for MSFN, it has been around since XP beta. Virtua news was added later on. At one time the site was down for weeks, and some of our more informed members built TZ during that time. they are a good bunch of guys who know their stuff... i think their site content is a bit different to ours, same topic though... just gone about in a different way. Anyways, hope that clears that up!
  3. Windows key + M = minimise all apps to tray Windows key + D = minimise all to tray AND maximise Windows key + E = My Computer Windows key + R = open Run Prompt Bleh.. could go on Xtrememac.. theres loads, mostly pointless tho.
  4. nah, its pants. I have a beter tool and its freeware, it can convert images and everything into ASCII, have a look: http://go.to/ascgen/
  5. @ subcodec... yeah Media Library in Windows Media Player 9 is actually pretty **** handy. just added about 20 of my CD's to my PC this weekend and it made the job a whole lot easier! As for ripping tracks, i use a tool that comes with DBPower AMP - "DMC audio CD input". Its a great little set of tools, is free, spyware free, and has beter features than all of the pay for ones ive ever tried out. it has freedb built into it so finds tracks and artist info automatically, check it out! www.dbpoweramp.com
  6. Best Horror Film ever - Rob Zombies "House of a Thousand Corpses" Honest.. watch it, i didnt find it scary (though other people tell me they found it real scary).. but i found it very disturbing!
  7. why would you need the same static ip no matter what network you where on? Your sys admin at work can just tie an IP to your MAC address or to your machine name, you can use a different IP for home or elsewhere. you shouldnt need to set anything at your end.. its the sys admin who will set in on the router at work. Ive never known a PC disconnect from the network when it goes into hibernate mode... Try this, press the windows key+Pause/Break on the keyboard, go to the hardware tab. Then in Device Manager, Find Network Adapters, open the tree, now right click on your Network card and go to Properties. Click the Power Management tab, and untick "Allow the PC to turn off this device to save Power" See if that helps
  8. theres shopping around.... Take PC world, they sell a 120GB western digital drive for £156 or there abouts. I can buy the EXACT same drive for £62 at retail price elsewhere. Bit of a difference no?
  9. do you have a setup disk that came with your SATA drives? friend of mine had similar problems.. he sorted it by downloading some tools from his drive manufacturers website, not entirely sure what as i wasnt there and havent had to setup a SATA system from scratch yet. note i said yet... will be soon, reeeeally looking forward to that, not.
  10. It wasnt meant to be nasty, just honest. If a user isnt able to burn a CD.. who knows what other problems will occur when the user actually gets that Unattended CD to boot?
  11. Just because the network uses DHCP doesent mean you cant reserve IP's for specific hardware. Talk to your Systems Admin and see if he can reserve you an IP on the network. My home network runs on DHCP, yet my printer and my FTP server both have static IP's. Same for the printers at my work (im the sys admin) The whole idea with DHCP is that it is Flexible, scalable and adaptable!
  12. If you dont know how to burn a cd.. i wouldnt even attempt making your own slipstreamed XP cd...
  13. ill have apop at it this weekend stryker
  14. Glad you found the site usefull dollars!
  15. does the printer show on your username? and is your username in the admin group?
  16. your brother wont want to be playing games online while you are downloading on one machine. to give you an idea, the network i look after at work has 112 computers on a 512/512mb line! yes the thing is a joke and slows down at times (well all the time!), it will be upgraded to 2mb/2mb soon, still even thats a bit lacking IMO. Not that it gets used for web surfing or downloading... just network (inc. external networks) sharing and email, still lacking tho.
  17. i thought id seen some beuties, but they really do take the biscuit! Nice find Sven!
  18. liquid.. thats just overboard man, totaly pointless. Bomba, next time that box pops up telling you about iminent shutdown, go to START > RUN Type in: shutdown.exe /a Press enter. Now.. go download the patch from MS to stop the shutdowns happening, and then you can sort out norton.
  19. odds on its one of 4 things: Fan cluttered up with dust or fan has failed on CPU - check it. A Virus - scan with recent definitions Spyware - scan with both adaware and spybot S+D using latest definitions Inadequate or dying power supply - check it
  20. its horsecrap, the thing even has spelling errors in it. Delete the thing, all chain letter writters should burn in hell.
  21. isnt that a weight balance for a slingshot?
  22. id just kick his a**, he sounds a bit wierd as it is... Wait till hes fast asleep, THEN start playing loud music he dont like. buy yourself some pep pills and deprive him of sleep for a few nights in a row... Take pictures of him asleep in bed.. pull the covers back.. stick a vibrator up his nose.. etc. Show him a photocopy, tell him if he dosent quit it his little photo shoot makes it all over campus. ill leave it there before i get started... PS: does he have a pet rabit?
  23. Bet you own a Mobile phone though right?
  24. No, but if i did it would be into a truck. I dont have an EVO suit handy so i wont be touching one any time soon ta
  25. not seti, your all sooo close. Cmon, its obvious i got it right away. It IS the human brain, and 4tb is a guess, as it says "around 4tb" 25fps is the top frame rate your brain can detect from the signals sent by your eyes, correct! human doesent count, close but not the right answer!
