Hi folks, im looking for a freeware tool that fits the following criteria: Is free to use contains no spyware/adware at all requires no registration activation etc is free for business use and can convert PDF documents to plain text, or word, or excel docs, or all three + more. now i have found tools that do the same thing in reverse, but not the way round i need it. Also i have found a few that do the job but contain adware or spyware. Its for use in a business environment so cant be full of gator and garbage like that, any recommends? TIA!

@UTln -- i used to get that same problem. Had a Netgear FA311 Nic in the machine at the time. Its the drivers... they suck. Swapped that card out for a cheapo Zonet card, spoofed the mac address of the netgear card so i can get online, and presto the cheap and nasty card doesent lock the machine up when traffic gets hectic. Only good thing with the netgear card is it can be booted over the network, but then as im not likley to be doing remote installs at home i dont miss it. Try another nic or some other drivers? might be similar issue.

do sfc/ scannow instead?

those free hosts dont offer PHP/mysql. well, not last time i checked anyway.

@ MaxXP, dialers usually install along with some freeware, or via java exploit. update JVM to sunjava and watch what you download. @Maveric, what is in start>startup folder? anything under run or runonce in the registry? and do you get to see the url of the page thats trying to open? also check from browser hijack with hijackthis! Thoroughly run adaware and spybot S+D and check for spyware.

ive never know of a trojan in any cd image distributed by any of the groups targeted. common myth about viri and trojans spread by newbies and anti piracy advocates. still, if you use some software, and you like it, its only reasonable to pay the people who put the hard work into it. you wouldnt like it if someone took money out of your wage packet each month without you being able to stop them :/ Some games take years to make for example, 3 to 5 years or more isnt uncommon for some of the big ones.

if the cue is already made... just burn with nero, fireburner or whatever using the cue sheet and it should do your job. Failing that, get some sound editing software, hell even sndrec32.exe and chop the thing up into single tracks before burning it.

that paddle has probably driven the drive head into the platter and you arent likley to ever use it ever again, well.. maybe as a paper weight. Sounds like you also fubared something else while shoving this magnetic paddle into your pc (while running!) Well... least you believe the paddle works now..... I would suggest a complete strip down of your system, find the damaged parts by swapping for parts you know work, junk the rest, oh and get new friends.

Do you have some form of software firewall installed? norton internet security or kerio? Also checked your machine for spyware recently? The file spliiter you are talking about.. is just winrar. you can create a multi zip or rar file. you will need all the rars or zips in order to unzip it and get the single file back out again. come in handy, used on newsgroups a lot for the same reasons as you post above.

its a virus. you may have removed the virus from your system, but as jono said your hosts file is still blocking those sites. you will need to remove the anti virus sites and microsoft update from there. Update your anitvirus definitions and scan your PC! GL
