  4. I hate WINE, it goes back to my previous comment.. a noob wouldnt have a clue what it was for or why they had to use it etc, and they actually getting it to run something properly is a pain, i barely ever get wine to run anything, so i stopped trying a long time ago. Maybe i should play with it again and see... As fir WineX.. eurgh. Like you said in another thread.. if you are going to run Windows programs, run them on windows.
  5. If you use Linspire, because its based on Debian, you dont need click n run (off with my money) Because almost all of the software on click n run can be found with APT. install APT, run it, and go download all the crap thats on click n run for free, AND MORE. @Jay, that brush you used in your avatar.. the text one down the right side? can you email it me? thnx
  6. tak, the MacOS thing was just a dig, of course people use it. Doom3, Tribes, Sims and Tux racer hardly compete with the huge array of games available for Windows. its the way it is. ive said it before and ill say it again, if Linux could run ALL windows games just as well as Windows can, or if Games companies woke up and brought out Linux versions for their games 95% of the time, then i would drop Windows in a heart beat and use Debian. Photoshop on linux would be nice too, and no i dont want to use Gimp, powerfull and free as it is, it isnt photoshop. Until then, nah.
  7. Of course we use linux. its the best web server OS there is. Its not noob friendly enough for a desktop OS though (despite much improvement) and it sucks for games (availability wise), hence most people dont use it for a desktop. Windows probably fits the desktop category much beter for most people, so most people use it, of course that and other factors such as the way its distrubuted etc but thats beyond the scope of this post. And MacOS isnt usefull for anything, so people dont use it. you dont use a hammer to spread plaster do you? or a trowel to hammer in nails?
  8. Didnt you read it? hahha

it is perfectly possible using command prompt on an XP desktop. i forget how to do it, but you can restrict each acount or user group individually. i found out how to do it on the Windows tips site at microsoft.com a looong time ago. it may be on this forum somewhere, as i did post it. have a search and see if you can find it, ive tried with no luck. -- if you do find it post back!
  12. I didnt see this before, dont know why i missed it. but thanks guys anyways
  13. Xperties, is that an aerogate II in the top of yoru dragon case? if so how did you fit it? it seems awfully stuck out of the front of tha case to how it should be. i just fitted mine, in my Chieftec Scorpio case (so same rail mounts as for dragon) I took an old (though was still working) 8X CD drive, gutted it cut a bit out of the tin casing using a dremel, and fitted the aerogate inside it, then mounted it like a normal drive. Chucked the backplate and the inards in the bin -- worked a treat. ill post piccies if i can find my Camera.. its gone walkies.

  18. you said "upgraded" you did a clean install or actually chose the "upgrade" option on installing Win XP?
  19. Please stay on topic. Next person caught turning threads into totally off topic, "my country is beter than yours", WW2 never happened, WE where the only country to fight in WW1 / 2 type posts, and other flame bait and ill hit you with a 3 day banage. keep that stuff in kindergarten where it belongs please.
  20. Until someone releases a motherboard that supports AMD 64 and PCI express im sticking with my Ti4400. So hope it runs doom as its going to have to!
  21. currently studying for my MCSA. As people suggested, study at home, buy study guides, visit websites (theres plenty all over the net) some of the lower courses you can do at college / tech. or do some similar courses if its in areas your not as profficient, just to bump your abilities in that area of topic. do the work at home, book yourself into an exam and off you go. start out by doing your A+ and N+ and then go on from there.
  22. did you think about this: they could mutate around each other and create something altogether harmless or trivial?
