  1. theres a reason for not doing it. keeping your password and login in a cache is a stupid idea. there are many viruses and spyware programs out there that check password managers and rip all the logins out of them. i guess you would prefer your money to stay in your acount right?
  2. you ever watched rab c nesbit?? you must have done...
  3. OLD! but still amusing i suppose

  7. An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the richter scale hit Salford last Wednesday morning. The epicentre was Ordsall. Casualties were seen wandering aimlessly saying "bang out of order" "mental" and "sorted". The earthquake decimated the area causing in excess of £17.55 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Ibiza and Corfu were damaged beyond repair. Three preserved areas of historic importance where burned out cars were destroyed, were wrecked. Many locals were woken before their giro's arrived. One resident, Kylie Sharon Smith, a 15 year old mother of four said, "It was such a f***kin shock, little Chardonnay-Destiny came running into my bedroom crying, my hands were shaking that much I could hardly skin-up". The British Red Cross has so far managed to send 4000 crates of Sunny Delight to the area to help with the crisis. Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found numerous 'Elizabeth Duke' sovereign rings, benefit books and Poundstretcher ornaments. HOW CAN YOU HELP? This appeal hopes to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the disaster. Clothing is most sought after. Urgently needed are LaCoste tracksuits, white socks, Burberry caps, Beanie hats and Reebok trainers. Food parcels are also needed. They include McCain oven chips, Aldi beans, Monster Munch and Iceland pizza. Alcohol is also in short supply, especially White Lightening Cider and Special Brew. Cash donations are also needed. 22p buys a 'signing on' biro, £2.50 buys a Jumbo Sausage Dinner, £20.00 buys a fake MOT and £16.00 buys 200 Regal from the back of Tommo's lorry. Your help is appreciated.
  8. its been tried a few times but real time chats never seem to take off for msfn. Jeff did something recently aswell that ended up not being used too that you could chat and help people on, shame too. hope this one works out though. msfn was actually born in an IRC chat on Efnet though prathapml
  9. just desaturate the image and save a psd of it.. that is what you mean right?
  10. plays almost anything, including badly corrupted movies: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ nice features and skins, low resource player: http://www.bsplayer.com
  11. heh nice, but they will just block that site themselves the same as us blocking them shame
  12. his money isnt just from selling windows, but investments and other software sales and other deals and god knows what else he has his hands in. you have a few million dollars sat in your bank doing nothing and growing steadily.. what do you do with it? you put it to work to make more money obviously.
  13. The upgrade stinks and you are likley to encoutner software problems and wierd driver issues and other notorius bugs. beter off doing a clean install, but before you do back up your OEM systems partition to a DVD or two. the partitions probably hidden so you might need to set it to viewable in partition magic or in windows disk manager (if its displayed there, depends on how its hidden) never upgrade windows, ever. if you do your just setting yourself up for a world of pain and headache.
  14. i never have problems with BSplay, i love it, its fast loading, has nice features, and is th only movie player i know that you can make your own custom aspect raios in - great for making really letter boxed films a little bigger without turning peoples heads into peanut shapes. just sucks that it doesent play DVD's too. and i love the intuative hit keys. on the rare occasions i have had a file format, or funny driver that wont play in any other player, hell even corrupted files, i always try to play them in VLC Media player, it plays just about anything! very solid client, not quite to my liking as BSplayer but id says its best for its player strengths, but lacks in the hot keys department and i dont like the movie window being tied into the player window.. prefer them seperate so i can "always ontop" the movie window but hide the controls. Try play your movies in VLC player and see if it plays fine in there - bet it does
  15. not sure if this works off a domain but try: net user dngrsone /time:M-F,08:00-17:00 obviously try it on another acount not your own. Alternatively get a router. either setup smoothwall if you have a spare machine and the time to do it, or buy a hardware router - they cost hardly anything these days.
  16. you just shot down your own silly arguement with that one short sentance. you didnt pay for the OEM license, therefore, you are stealing something you dont own. It doesent matter if you dont post the CD key, we all know they are easier to get than downloading a whole CD is (which is easy enough anyway, just takes longer) the steps posted earlier still show how to get something you didnt pay for and have no rights to, it doesent even matter if you install it or not, just having the product is owning it without the right to do so. it is like someone owning kiddie porn saying they never watched it so it doesent make them a paedophile. or someone owning a pile of stolen money saying they never spent it so they havent done anything wrong. if your arguement is right, then its ok for people to host and download copies of windows over the internet, so long as the CD keys arent provided.... right? wrong And you are both right, you are paying for the software, AND the right (ie Lisence) to use it. not one of them, but both.
  17. Radmin. small client, does what its supposed to, easy to use, all the features it needs, and quick loading compared to other clients ive used (for example: remote desktop being, as usual for MS, full of stuff that isnt needed, and slow.)
  18. The way MS looks at it: you go into a nice resteraunt, as a couple. you buy one starter and one meal, then split them between the plates. your both taking up seats, your both drinking the free wine, but only paying for one person. or you buy a Ferrari and find a way of turning it into 2 ferraris for nothing. They take the same attitude to you turning XP pro into Home even though Home is a lesser, and cheaper product. As well as obviously turning home into pro .. corp .. etc... Windows is a proprietry piece of software, and as you know MS spends a lot of time, effort, programming time and lawyer money on keeping it that way.
  19. because it is turning one version of windows, into another, without paying for it, therefore giving you two versions of windows for the price of one product. yes little difference between them blah blah, but its not how MS sees it. Dont believe me - ring them and ask.
  20. it is. please stop making it worse by posting more on how to do it.
  21. Some of the rules here may seem like a pain to some of you. But they are, as rules often are, there for a reason. Most of you wont know me, i originally built this site back when XP was in its beta stages. There where no rules on the board back then. Over MSFN's life it has been shut down several times, for various reasons. some of you may even remember some of those downtimes, one lasted over 2 months if i remember rightly. Its not fun, not for the thousands of members or the sites staff who put a lot of work into this place for nothing. Spending a LOT of their spare time helping out and keeping the place tidy and interesting, and free of the kinds of people who would soon turn it into the kind of place you dont want to visit. Often for no thanks and sometimes even just getting grief in response to what they do. this site wouldnt be around today if it wasnt for Xper and the guys who keep it alive - the mods and other staff, and of course the dedicated member base (i dont have anything at all to do with the running of the site any more, and to be honest if it was down to me this site would have died in its first year of life) Some of the rules are there not because we want them, but because they have to be. As xper mentioned you guys dont get the emails from Microsoft and other blue chip (read richer than everyone on this board put together) companies with hungry lawyers. If it where down to us you would have always been able to discuss what you like so long as it wasnt sick or offensive to people in general. We are all geeks, nerds, hackers call it what you will - but interested in how to make things do what we want and how things work just like the rest of you, but you guys arent the ones facing a lawsuit, getting emails from lawyers and "subtle" suggestions from large companies, and - has has happened in the past - even having MS staff talk about "questionable" content to you over the phone. Rules may suck, but lifes full of them, like computer code is, things dont always work if you mess with them too much. Basically, what im saying is nobodys being hollier than thou, or whiter than white, or whatever, but just trying to do whats best for this site that many of you use and enjoy - FOR FREE, so that everyone can continue to do so. How much bandwidth do you think this site uses? its not small, and its not free - but thats how cool these guys are that your ranting off at. This isnt aimed at anyone in particular, not just the OP, but the people with the same view, cause you arent alone, you just need to realise why things are the way they are.
  22. guys come on, plug the brain cells in.
  23. True, but doesent apply to everything. like, im glad brainsurgery is complicated, or every id*** would be offering to do it like with plastic surgery (and that isnt so simple as it is!) Or games, simple games tend to be fun for a bit, tetris, pacman, or my all time classic fave space-invaders. But they "suck" when something more complicated and indepth takes your attention away. And dont forget, it took something that, for the first time making it without the supporting industry. was as complicated as it comes, to end the war - the A bomb. on the base of it, the A Bomb is a pretty unsofisticated and "simple" device. But building it when it was built and coming up with how to do it in the first place was like someone building a Genesis Bomb (a la Startrek) today. My dads uncle used to fly a Spitfire, his house was festooned with shells and bits of airplane, it was like aladins cave in his house - but it was all brass not gold i remember him showing me the lumps in his legs and back - bits of shrapnel from german rounds and bits of his own airplane that where never cut out of him. I wouldnt put an I pod on that list tho, i find them pretty horid looking and clumsy to use - easy to miss key with that stupid pad, and the software you have to install to use it is: 1) pointless 2) bloated 3) insidious There shouldnt be a need to install the glut of software that makes god knows how many changes to your machine, registry, and makes folders all over your hard disk. The Ipod is only a removable drive device - like a dongle or memory card - they dont need software, why does the ipod? you should be able to just plug it in, open the drive in my computer and dump stuff on it. oooh no, Steve doesent want that, he wants you to have to infect your machine with apples "brand" crap first. i hate apple, always trying to make itself into some kind of lifestyle brand or fasion symbol, your NOT Nike or Rebook or something Steve Jobs, your a company that sells proprietry crap in gummy-bear-candy coloured boxes, nice on the outside (if you like kids toys) pile of un-upgradable-warranty-removed-if-you-look-through-a-vent-garbage. Please, all mac users, send me your ipods, your cubes, your stupid looking Anime esque monitors and your horrid mice, and ill make good use out of them on November the 5th, which is guy fawkes night here in the uk. ill post pictures for y'all too. /endrant sorry got carried away
