  1. Shadow Fi...I've been using Norton Internet Security for some time in addition to a Linksys router and perhaps 6-8 spyware, keylogger, anti-theft type software and don't even have as much as a pop-up or malicious script warning anymore. Just my system-may not be as good on yours as there are many alternatives. I've had Norton from the beginning and I'm more accustomed to it's quirks that the rest. Zone Alarm is good as well, however; I'd suggest the router with whatever you may have. With 'always on' cable, you can't do without a good firewall (software and hardware). By the way, Outpost is good but, I'd prefer Norton over Panda. I agree, Anthony. What good does it do to seek help on a forum...computer, chat or whatever, if you're not going to get any help. You could spend a long time searching for questions/answers like this. Ir's like going into Google and typing in "Music"...good luck in finding within a day what you're searching for.
  2. Nope...in fact I just paid $39.96 for it. Oh, well-if it does what it says it would be worth it to me. I had a credit card number 'stolen' from me from someone about a year ago. My credit card company called me and if I had made a purchase to a certain place that I honestly don't recall the name of it, however; it was only a little over $7 but, it was for a membership to some porn magazine or something to that affect and...at 7:10am! The day it happened I was at work and had not a clue what she was talking about. It was obviously a purchase "out of character" for me I guess and that was one of the things that clued her in. Since I buy stuff every so often off the internet, I feel sure that's where it came from.(not porn!) Either way, I had to change my account number and fortunately it never happened again. I was lucky it wasn't $7,000 instead of seven something. Just perhaps this Spycop could have prevented that...don't know, just maybe.
  3. Tadly...the firewall that came with XP is better than nothing but, not by much. Most of us "scardy cats" have another-like NIS. With this, you not only have the firewall but the anti virus as well. I can go into Personal Firewall>Home Networking>Restricted and then add in the IP address I want to restrict or permit. You need something better than XP's version if you don't have somethiing else.
  4. Sure... http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/spycop/ http://www.spycop.com/
  5. Has anyone ever used Spycop and is it a worthy addition to Spybot and AdAware? From what I've read, it's good for stopping keyloggers and identity thiefs.
  6. Yes-I do have NIS and I went to the anti-virus and where it says, 'Email', unchecked where it says Scan Outgoing Email...did no good. I also have several programs such as Spybot, WinPatrol, SpywareBlaster, BrowserHijack Browser, and AdAware. I have called Comcast and they said perhaps it could be Windows Media, that maybe one of the files had gotten corrupt. I have the lastest, WM9 installed. Maybe it's got something to do with IE?? I've about given up on this. Has to have something to do with the OS instead of Comcast.
  7. WarHawk...tried that and just get the runaround as usual (Comcast) XtremeMaC...cable by the illustrious Comcast provider I've heard you can use a file splitter to perform this function of sending media files but I don't want to fool with that to just send someone a small media script. There's no problem sending these type files from work...anything from 50kb to 10MB and ZAP...it's gone. When I try the same thing at home and click SEND, well-it just doesn't get out.
  8. I'm always having problems sending email with small media type files anything from 700kb to several MB and it will stop anywhere between 20-50% of sending it and just freeze. I have to open the Task Manager and end the program but, then, I have to reboot and reset my router to be able to get back on the Internet because if I don't follow that procedure, then I get "Page Cannot Be Displayed." Getting aggravating! What's the deal?
