  1. Just to say, i do the same as Stinger12348, RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove and it's gone for good.
  2. Thanks neoseifer, will try when homa nd us evirtualpc to confirm.
  3. Yes i do have that section within the winnt.sif file. PC died at weekend, so had to add it in manually, will remember tonight to add here.
  4. I too have this problem, and as yet have not found a way for the settings within the winnt.sif to be used. I use slipstreamed SP2 FULL. Did anybody get this working. I'm at work so will post winnt sif details later, but they are gathered from using the tool as part of the deploy.cab. So if anybody could shed light on how to make iot work - appreciation will be high.
  5. Will those reg keys work with any mail program? or would they be different for each product? (I know the .exe and icons will be, i mean the format of the keys and general content) I use a product called Tobit InfoCentre if anybody is up for investigations
  6. From the mcafee site you can download a program called stinger.exe which is a standalone program. It does not need installing and will find and remove a large number of virus. It can be acquired from AVERT Tools - Stinger Hope that helps
  7. FullUnattended doesn't show any screens either in same way DefaultHide doesn't show them.
  8. It doesn't remove the icons, as that isn't the request of IEAccess=Off. The request is to stop access to IE, so it can't actually be used. You'll notice this, because when you click on it, you'll get the InternetOptions dialog appear. Those icons are changed via, right click on the taskbar select properties select start menu click customize and you can then change the icons that appear. Hope that helps.
  9. To turn the yellow exclamation that appears on your network icon in the system tray, click Start click control panel open Network Connections Right click on the LAN Connection with said icon Select Properties on the General tab, deselect the checkbox click ok close network connections box close control panel
  10. Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger can be used in this way as well. Can't go to homesite from work, but i think it is messenger.msn.com and they had links from their on usage etc
  11. in the [unattended] section add the line DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore it will then bypass that screen. Think that is correct spelling etc, but if wrong someone will shout
  12. To add to winnt.sif, i did this => extract the deploy.cab to a folder run setup.exe, fill in the sections just tso it is happy at the printer section, insert servername\printersharename then finish open your unattended.txt file locate section and copy and paste ths to your winnt.sif I'll be honest and say i haven't actually tried this, but as is done via official unattended.txt create program, i don't see why not.
  13. Yeah, Had a look on his site and noticed that the only change noted is the addition of the ebay option as quoted => taken from, IrfanView History
  14. Ah! Didn't realise that it now also incorporated that mess of a google toolbar. I'm at work at present, so won't have time to look, but if i can will during week and see what I can learn and post results, unless somebody beats me to it.
  15. Have you tried the switches that work with 3.91? 99% chance that these will do the job ok. Try these => Do you mean this.. iview391.exe /silent /desktop=0 /group=0 /allusers=1 /assoc=1 IrfanView-all_plugins.exe /silent desktop=0 or 1 (Desktop icon) group=0 or 1 (Start menu group) Allusers=0 or 1 (Install for all users) Assoc=1 (Associate file types)
  16. That also appears against Network Connections in your system tray. To turn it of, uncheck "Notify me when connection has limited or no connectivity" in the properties of a NetworkConnection
  17. I added the switch /silent=1, which was advised on another notice, and also given when you do a /? on the .exe. It doesn't however work, so i'm happy to leave it as does the rest with no issues.
  18. Just to add, I use EXACTLY the same as SiMoNsAyS and all works perfectly.
  19. If you have SP2 installed the firewall will by default block all ICMP (PING) traffic, so this needs to be set to allow echo requests, otherwise you will get "timeout" responses, or just disable the SecurityCentre and WindowsFirewall and do the ping requests and if response, all ok. I would only have tcp/ip, file and print sharing and client for microsoft networks installed, as easier to troubleshoot less parameters.
  20. The default folders location for Program Files and Documents and Settings can be done in the winnt.sif file held in you i386 folder. Can't remember where held, but if you go to => Unattended MSFN it will show you. As for programs, these will use what you set above, though some can have specifics set as part of sile install. Search the Application Switches part for assistance as i don't change any to answer specifics
  21. I did something similar to jaccoswinkels, in that i extracted SP2 and ran the /integrate switch against update.exe from the update folder, so it looked like <sp2path>:\update\update.exe /integrate:<xpgold or xpsp1 path> No problems found at all.
  22. HAve you browsed through ref.chm, links to another useful site on RegionalSettings, as this gives plenty of information and also this url may assist => Defining Language and Regional Settings in the Answer File It does note about your timezone within GUIUnattended, which i guess you have set correctly. Hope it helps
  23. I did the cmd method to start as it showed me which files were and paths were wrong. Then once i knew it was correct and worked, transferred all into runonceex nad now it looks nice and does job. IF i need to apply an update, i use VMWare to test and then add to runonce adn so far so good. Now i'm after to transferring to use from RIS, which is doing my head in, but i'll get there in end.
  24. Ok, so are you able to boot of your XP CD? If you can and get to the stage where it shows you what HDD you have, can you see yours listed there? If yes, just hit enter and it will use all of HDD to install to. If no, then your HDD isn't being seen. Go to BIOS and autodetect HDD and if it then shows, save settings, exit, reboot and start again. If no, the your HDD or BIOS or Main(Mother)board or IDE or powercable could be at fault, so, ensure jumpers on HDD are set to master, ensure IDE is plugged into IDE1/Primary, ensure power cable is tight and try again, if still no lck then possible hardware failure.
