  1. Solved my issue of $$\system32\ stuff not being copied over. Search function works when you know what your doing. Cheers guys.
  2. i'd highly recommend a visit here => http://unattended.msfn.org Read digest and enjoy. 99.9% of questions will be answered here, if nota search and then ask. It's where i started and couldn't be happier, good helpful, clear advice.
  3. @ToBe, I have just done your method. I'l admit, i didn't create shellstyle.dll as royale.dl_, CD complained it couldn't be found. Click ESC to carryon. It's just finished and i have the roayle theme. Will now re-do with the royale.dll in place, and it should still work. Your a star, and thanks for a simple easy to read quide.
  4. Folks, Thanks for all you help. I have managed to get it to do as wanted => winnt.sif looks like this [Identification] JoinDomain=domainame => change to suit own CreateComputerAccountInDomain=Yes MachineObjectOU="OU=server1, DC=home, DC=co.uk" => change to suit own DomainAdmin=domainname\administrator => change to suit own DomainAdminPassword=.................. => change to suit own [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=No [NetAdapters] Adapter1=params.Adapter1 [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [NetServices] MS_SERVER=params.MS_SERVER [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] DNS=No UseDomainNameDevolution=No EnableLMHosts=Yes AdapterSections=params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1 [params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 DHCP=No WINS=Yes NetBIOSOptions=0 IPAddress= SubnetMask= DNSServerSearchOrder= WinsServerList= [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=0 [params.Adapter1] INFID=* and it forces the box to appear as the domain info is wrong. So, you click Back once, enter the IP details as needed, and then add into the domain. Works like a charm. Hope it helps anybody else.
  5. I tried, and the mwthod i used on Xp, on 2k3, failed saying, can only do this on an enterprise version version. will have to read unattended.msfn.org and go from there.
  6. nothing to stop you from creating the reg key theat article mentions. EDIT: I'll have a go later, and let you know what i did.
  7. do a chkdsk - will fix any potential errors defrag - will resolve any defragmentation on it Where is your paging file, if on same disc, this can cause issues as well.
  8. Pain, and not easy to ensure BIOS password is set, and not all PC's have the same!! So, as they get re-built, it will be applied.
  9. DAP - works beter wih IE. For firefox, you have to do a bit of manual work. Copying and renaming a file, but istructions are clear on website for this
  10. Ata guess, try putting the [Data} section at the top. Though, to be honest, not sure what difference it makes which order the sections are in. But if you run setupmgr.exe from deploy.cab it does place it first.
  11. Your correct messenger isn't noted anywhere in ref.chm. I think there some things missing in ref.chm and also some explanations of things aren't very clear as well. If you use OEaccess=Off, OutlookExpress is still installed, but visibility points are not applied. Ditto for the Firewall and IE Hope that helps
  12. As part of SP2 tis is nw called DynamicUpdates, as noted in ref.chm from the deploy.cab. Set this to 0 or No and see how you go
  13. On the o2k3 resource kit website there is an article on how to set this, and it is a registry key. So on that basis, if you reverse this setting, you will be able to use the office update. Go here, read and may resolve issue without to much hacking about http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/journ/blockOU.htm Hope that helps.
  14. this must be a case of deja vue, Answers is on your other post
  15. i thought it was => <driveletter>:\setup.exe -a <driveletter> - CD-Rom or where the office is also, /? does give you the switches
  16. The help and download now box appear, whether you have a net connection or not. I pause for 10secs, and this is sufficient to open them both beofre being killed.
  17. Does nobody know? I have even tried with a different screensaver to the default - Same issue
  18. I think SP2 is 128bit, Click Help | About and cipher strength confirms that thought, and if you add the required site within the trusted sites section of Internet Options, you will then get the padlock in the IE system tray. Saying that, if it is a secure site, you access it by https:// this will tell you that you are accessing a Secure Site. I'm guessing that is what you mean?
  19. You can't. Only thing can do this is to use nlite and rip it out. You can do OEAccess=Off in winnt.sif. Oh, same thing applies to IE. Hope that helps
  20. Now, that would be useful, as i'm building an unattended for work and as such they dislike use of USB especially. Thanks
  21. I can highly recommend a product called Criston Precision. Very simple to use, does everyting you want, inc S/W & H/W inventory software install / removal remote control direct access of pc to change registry, services, hdd I use to deploy to over 500+ PC and never a glitch I know another company uses it ffor 35000, (yes that is correct), PC's. go to http://criston.com for further info
  22. In my Regtweaks.reg i have the below ; ScreenSaver 10min TimeOut and use password [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "ScreenSaverIsSecure"="1" "ScreenSaveTimeOut"="600" "ScreenSaveActive"="1" which works as expected, by turning on after 10 mins, and locks the PC. However, pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, doesn't enable me to unlock it again. I have looked through my regtweaks.reg and can't see anything that could be causing it. Any thoughts, ideas appreciated, because i'm stumped. Note: If asked, i'll attach or mail, as is to long to post.
  23. Would be better to create an SFX in WinRAR, run this, then register dll. To start service you need r_server.exe i think in system32 folder with /service switch You can then create the SFX from runonceex.cmd or the old start /wait way
  24. If the key says HKEY_CURRENT_USER, they can be used on any PC HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, some will work on any PC, some won't as they may contain CLSID keys, which are machine specific. Trial and error may be the answer, but not the one most of us want. It's the way we learn though. An oldman Edited: due to bad grammar
