Regional settings to answer file
oioldman replied to notdrugged's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You don't needa nything more than is already on the CD in i386 foder. The settings for your region are taken from the winnt.sif, and ref.chm will show which apply to which language. Hope that helps -
Manually Add IP Address during install
oioldman replied to oioldman's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Could do this way, and change the IP address for each PC on it - bit of a pain though. Well had a go with doing => all settings no ip - no request all settings with ip - all works just need to start configuring, because i'm sure some settings will trigger it to appear, just gotta work out which ones. Am determined enough that hopefully 'll get a result and will update -
Admin AutoLogon when Admin name is changed
oioldman replied to Generic's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
What you could do is create an admin account that is ONLY used for the install of PC's to domain, i've read about in the Windows2000 Server Resource kit, something about the temp folder and security under the RIS folder where your images are. OR, did you get it working? -

oioldman replied to weist123's topic in Application Installs
A quick glance looks ok. Where did you get this snippet and does it actually works? I thought an install needed the XP CD? -
You can't install silent with switches. All files it uses are placed in same dir, The one installed to. It is something that according to forums on radmin.com that will implemented into v3 - which will be an msi Do the autoit way or copy all files to you desired location and register the .dll and way you go hope it helps. P.S lots of topics on this that will have answered you query

Manually Add IP Address during install
oioldman replied to oioldman's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Guys, Thanks for all your replies. I'll have a look at the one offered by noclist, as doing the one by Yzöwl, is fine, but I have 10 PC's to do this on, and unless I can find a way to choose which .sif file to use. Hopefully i'll be able to do tonight, and will update. -
Manually Add IP Address during install
oioldman replied to oioldman's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@mikemooney But that needs to be done at the end, after it is all built, in which case, i may as well do the usual way. Thanks for idea though -
Manually Add IP Address during install
oioldman replied to oioldman's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@tguy, thanks for your response. Unfortunately I couldn't find the bit that made it clear to do what I want. I understand how to do [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=No OR [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes Though neither of these work. Have also done BOTH of the above with [NetAdapters] Adapter1=params.Adapter1 [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [NetServices] MS_SERVER=params.MS_SERVER [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] DNS=No UseDomainNameDevolution=No EnableLMHosts=Yes AdapterSections=params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1 [params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 DHCP=Yes ----------> Yes or No WINS=No NetBIOSOptions=0 and I don't get asked. There must be a way of doing this, just having trouble working it out, and banging hesad on wall is starting to cause large bruises. With DHCP=No, i was asked to enter username and password to add to domain, but having no IP details, it failed, which was expected. Does anybody, have any ides on how i can get it to allow me to enter a static IP Address and DNS please, The IP Address is to c Thank you. -
VMWare & transfering files between Virtual PC
oioldman replied to RichTJ99's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
After you have Virtual PC installed - Install it's tools and again you can drag and drop. Works for me. -
Would have to agree with Black Flame, backup all work you have done, and re-install XP and all apps In your attempt, by deleting random files you have created more problems, with most not yet obvious to you.

I have an easy-to-answer question
oioldman replied to Wedge1's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
They will actually install to C:\Program Files, unless you noted in your winnt.sif where to install them, another drive/partition etc As scorpy said, some application let you choose where to install and the most common for this is .msi programs. -
you'll find that it does still exist on XPSP2, open a command shell and type at
-
@bluedeon - Did you manage to work out how to apply the serial number? as nothing is obvious in registry
-
@totoymola - right in the middle it says this; Update Options /update <Update1.msp>[;Update2.msp] Applies update(s) So, it needs to be a .msp to integrate and as it's an .msi you can't and a .mst is a transform to install specific options. So we await RyanVM, efforts or we install the main program and then install SP1
-
@mrmr - Your link doesn't work. @RavRod - You have a key called comdlg32, this is the COM added by the places install. So, did you install it or just use those keys, and will it create the subkeys needed? sorry if these questions are dumb. an oldman called oi
-
The utility that does this is called "places" and if you go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en it will give you info on what and it does it. I know it references Outlook 2000, but ignore that as it is PC wide.
-
If i remember, in Win2k Server in the DHCP scope it gives the IP address assigned and the MAC of the PC that has it, along with stationname. You also assign static IP by MAC of station so, i guess that if you were to turn off DHCP, and static assign, then that would work.
-
I don't think you can do that with a s/w firewall as it wouldn't be able to distinguish between NIC that program would use. Maybe a h/w one could.
-
McAfee also do one, BUT, each has good and bad points. Only thing you can do is, find more places and magazines that have done testing and base it upon reviews, unless you can get trial copies. I've used Symantec Corporate and found it both easy to use and set up.
-
Not sure about that a06lp, but i don't mazin is wrong. I did un-install 3.30 and installed 3.40 and it picked up teh reg file and imported the settings with no issues.
-
In 3.30 I did this => Click Options Click Import/Export Select Export Settings It then produced a dialog box giving me, Pathname and Filename I'll guess 3.40 isn't much different. Hope that helps
