  1. If you use XP Pro, it is possible to disable the SecurityCentre and Windows Firewall You need to be logged in as an administrative user, open control panel | administrative tools | services set Security Centre and Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (unless you use this) to Manual and Stop them both. To confirm, in the Control Panel, try to open WindowsFirewall and will say it the required servcie is not started - meaning firewall is OFF That should stop your notifications and disable the firewall itself, though if you have another installed then this will need to be manually set.
  2. I use 3.3 with the /s switch and don't have any dialog boxes appear, so can only assume something with the install has changed, also, doesn't your serial key work with the newer version? It may be worth seeing what task runs at the end to show this and maybe doing a tskkill to end it?
  3. Do i take it then that all your apps are run from the server and not locally, hence a 6 licence app, being visible to all PC's? The login script, you would need to generate to run, and add this to the users profile to be run. I would do it along the lines of, now i can't write batch files, but seen them on this forum and so could be done, if not exist <pathname>\<filename> del %usersprofile\start menu\<filname>.lnk and repeat for desktop. Or, if all PC's in the library are exactly the same, build them up and use sysprep to drop image onto your server, will make rebuilding easier in future and will ensure that the apps for 6 licence are only on these PC's
  4. Can you not set each user to have the start menu settings they need as part of their profile? because icons will only work if the program is installed on that PC, or run a login script to remove dead icons. Sorry if wrong, trying to remember from moons ago.
  5. You will probably find that the files you would find on t he CD are actually in a folder already. My last company used to place t hem all in the c:\windows\options which gave users chance to burn onto cd. Maybe yours has a similar method, but i thought that all new PC's came with a copy anyway, as should be under the M$ OEM agreement, so may be easier to call your PC supplier and ask for the CD.
  6. I went to httpp://www.microsft.com and did a search for XP boot Floppy and got these results, which includes links to XP Home and Professional, from Original , SP1 and SP2 to create the bootable floppies needed. Resulting Link http://search.microsoft.com/search/results...=xp+boot+floppy Hope it helps. Could be though that the slipstreaming didn't work, hence you don't have the needed files to boot the cd.
  7. Try looking here, it gives a screen shot and full instructions and works a charm Using RunOnceEx.cmd amazing what a search can do!
  8. What you have setup, enables you to specify where and how big manually. If yo have it set so that "AutoPartition=1" it will by default use all of it, and i haven't yet found a way around it so i do it manually. Was taken from http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/winnt_sif.htm Hope it helps a little, and no doubt if i'm wrong i'll be told.
  9. I have just gone to http://support.microsoft.com and searched for documents and settings in the knowledge base and found approx 25 articles on this. The ones below look a good one to start with => An error message informs you that you cannot move or rename the Documents and Settings folder http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;314843 How To Change the Default Location of User Profiles and Program Settings http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;322014
  10. I know a tool exists at micosofrt.com for windows 2000 servers to do this. can't remember location but did use it and it doesn't reset all options for some reason, unless i used it wrong which is possible. This might help though => http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;842252
  11. Try this link, because i notice your using literal paths and you don't need to be: Delete shortcuts Also, t 300 isn't 1 minute, i use t 60 for one minute which is 60 seconds. Your doing 300 seconds which is 5 mins.
  12. As for the pro, sorry not sure, but having looked on forums at lavasoftusa.com it looks as thoughth eonly switch(s) for installing is /s, so i guess it should work.
  13. What exactly is your problem, i'm guessing that the shortcuts are not removed?!? It looks ok, from here, but the quickest way to know if it works is to run it manually at the end and if it does work then place at of you GuiRunOnce command or at end of you RunOnceEx.cmd file as i and many others do.

  15. HOWT TO: Force the Use of the Classic Start Menu User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer] System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer] Value Name: NoSimpleStartMenu Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Data: (1 = force classic menu, 0 = default) Hope that helps someone.
  16. One way to confirm that is to open TaskManager and under the Applications tab, find the app loaded, right click on it and select GoToProcess, it will then switch to the Processes tab and highlight it. Bear in mind though that rundll32.exe is used to run alot of stuff, so you will need to know the switches it calls. Hope it helps
  17. Looking on microsoft.com and searching in MSDN it gives quite a few articles on error 11708, and says it's a fault with th ewindfows installer module. So i would say that this component may bebroken or corrupt in some manner. The articles below may help ou more, but having not had your error, i dunno; http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....or_messages.asp http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....ent_logging.asp hope it helps
  18. I use the below in my RunOnceEx.cmd with no issues: I have version 1.03 and the sleep is so that install definately finishes before closing the helpfile (hh.exe) and as it autoruns ad-aware.exe needs to be closed. Hope that helps anyone.
  19. You really should remove your ProductKey as well.
  20. I notice you have REGEDIT4 written as first line, and so think that you did this on a none WindowsXP or 2k as they use Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 So, does it work on 2k and XP? before i try when get home. Cheers
  21. Don't take this badly, but if you search under the Application Switches area, you'll find plenty of answers to all three products Also the site http://unattended.msfn.org has the answers as well
  22. Ref your systray bubble, there is a registry tweak for this. I found it last night at winguides.com, but am unable to locate at present. Will dig it out when i get home. This one may do it though can't be sure, [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000
  23. We use M$ Visio 2003 in our company and it seems to do the above without to much of a hassle and you can get templates that refer to specific company products. Hope that helps
  24. I have managed to notice that the msi has changed to be IP52.msi or ITP52.msi and the switches still work, but now there are more files than ever.
  25. Mosselman, what does that answer have in response to my question, How do I apply the backed zllictbl.dat file for ZoneAlarm Pro. As far as i can tell, it has nothing to do with "Installing K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, Gordian Knot Codec Pack, Winamp 2.9, Mozilla Firefox and Messenger Plus Extentions"
