  1. sorry, but had to smirk when read. Only thing I can think of is to download and not install. Don't use AU, but know there are options when you do a right click, assume none of these fit the bill?
  2. isobuster - very easy to use. http://www.isobuster.com
  3. I think you should read this, http://unattended.msfn.org This will tell ou how to do 1 CD to build. Then, you'll need to learn about RemoteInstallationServices, (free on win2k server) Together you will get what you after. Group Policy will help in deploying appps, user profiles etc etc
  4. I agree with prathapml about having a simple and advanced versions of the doc - It still answers some questions i have! Think you'd best decide what is actually needed, or you'll never get it finished as people will want more & more added! I feel that the basics should be create a slipstream add h/w drivers create winnt.sif make iso burn it The extra's about apps, setup screens etc, should be available, but maybe under it works!. As in beginner - gets it working it works - it works with no errors, now add apps, setup screens advanced - extra detailed info
  5. Welcome, Look for WinstallLE (Found on your XP CD) or InstallRite (links available from this forum) or use InstallShield. I can't believe that google found nothing about building MSI files!!!!!!!!! Use this and see the results - loads of pages => http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=create+msi You may also find stuff here => http://unattended.msfn.org Basically, you build a CLEAN PC with no apps no mods Install either the above Do a scan of PC Install app, making changes DONOT reboot Do a scan to collect changes MSI created
  6. With ref to switches for Apps, in that section can we highlight more obviously, that people use the Search function before asking, and that they realise the /? will assist as well. Based on fact there was a bit of dicussion by older members, not wanting to respond on often repeated topics. The cmdlines.txt - When I first read this, I thought that I needed one for each command added to it for retweaks | useraccounts etc. (May be my way of reading) but is it possible to say that multiple can be added into it?
  7. Are these update .msp files? If so you can integrate using the msexec method and correct switches. I have seen a few articles on M$ site about this method and usage. I know this is way you update Symantec AV Corporate edition. Sorry can't be of more help, as don't use actual products.
  8. Remember seeing that the other day, but had totally forgotten about it. Just not into modifying default files.
  9. Ah, sorry from your original post I got impression you had 2 drives. This URL, gave bit of detail on old drives => http://www.hitachi.us/Apps/hitachicom/cont...Storage/&nId=iD Not sure else it could be, possibly cable issue, not seated properly or the drive could be on last legs. Have you tried to do a DVD-Rom based UA incase it doesn't like the discs? (straw clutching)
  10. @gmx To find the switches, do this click start click run type cmd /k bootcfg /? press return / Click ok you'll get a DOS box appear with the switches. It does need a bit of a read, but does give what your after. M$ tries not to help when you want it, but i normally just do a /? first, and if that fails. Hope that helps.
  11. May not be enough AutoLogin, for cleanup to run when you login. Your cleanup withh fail, in a way as you haven't given DEL, any switches to silently do the job, unless you want it to ask , Are you sure you want to delete......." Not so sure your path names are correct, as most people if you search on cleanup will use, %UsersProfile% and / all %ALLUserProfile% Don't use iTunes, so can't answer, but have seen a few topics on it in Application Swicthes Hope that helps a bit.
  12. Do a SEARCH for bootcfg and you'll be surprised by number of other topics that will explain how! I managed to be able to do manually, but not integrate with UA, but then, having only 1 install, it's not essential.
  13. I'm guessing that both show on the boot screen when you turn on the PC? as this is where windows gets details from. If BIOS don't register, windows on't initalling see, it then scan IRQ, DMA etc and then adds hardware based on that. Try only having 1 drive attached at a time, which one causes the pause. Are you doing this in Virtual PC?, and it only has 1 cd-rom registered in the profile? Just a thought with those and may be well of track.
  14. Long time since read this, been away out of country and busy at work. How have you got on with this? ISBN => 0-7356-0855-5 Author => Craig Stinson and Carl Siechert.
  15. Tne winnt.sif way is fine, but i've found they are only applied to the user you install windows with. If you create another user, they don't get those Favs. If you add to Default User, all created users get the Favs.
  16. Are you sure that is uses a setup.iss to install? First, check if there is one in the install dir then, yes - it uses one, no - it uses different install method. Second, Do you have show all files enabled? because it may be being created but you can't see it, and a search by default won't show it either. Third, are you logged in as the admin user to install this and generate the setup.iss file?
  17. Run HotkeyMaster 23.exe -R or -r Then look in windows directory for setup.iss Replace existing with this Run setup.exe -s and should install no probs. The -f1setup.iss, i've not seen. Nearest is this, -f2\"%systemdrive%\HotkeyMaster.log\", as installshield likes to generate a log file. Look here and it may help a bit more - http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/installshield.htm
  18. Sussed it, place your Favs and desktop icons into the Default User folder and when a new user is created they get thise Favs and Icons. I've only quickly looked at work. Will check better at home, if football doesn't take hold
  19. MCT, what are these problems? I'm using it at the moment and the only one i've got is that the Favs all stay in the All Users, and not given to new users, or am i doing this wrong?
  20. see the topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...yale"&st=0 use it as a base and you'll be fine. read in particular the instructions by ToBe, page2, and mazin, page3 I've followed them and it did work
  21. Use nice easier to know what you talking about topic headers as noted in Forum Rules Then, Clear everything from the Startup Remove all from registryRUN and RUNONCE boot into safe mode run virus scan & spyware killer reboot and see what happens. if still dead, try using hijackthis, which does a good job of showing you what runs/starts when windows boots up, and think about it. Hope it helps
  22. What was wrong with the /s to silent install, and using the original settings.reg file it creates from Options | Import/Export? This is the way i've done since before time, yep i'm that old, and never had a problem when called from runonce, as shown below => REG ADD %KEY%\030 /VE /D "WinRAR 3.40" /f REG ADD %KEY%\030 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\Apps\winrar\wrar341.exe /s" /f REG ADD %KEY%\030 /V 2 /D "REGEDIT /S %CDROM%\Apps\winrar\settings.reg" /f
  23. YOu can do roaming profiles on two PC'#s, as longa s they are in the same workgroup. It is also down to the correct configuration of the user profile. It is explained well and clearly in the book => Microsoft Windows2000 Pro Expert Companion. I know it says win2k, but the principle will be same for XP.
  24. Thanks. Those are the erros i do get. Didn't realise your notes were based on a beta version. I'll have a go at changing the txt and dosnet files to not use royale.dl_ as it doesn't appear to be needed anyway.
  25. ****, done file and re-read it all still that royale.dll at beginning causes grief. thinking it doesn't do anything! any offers for thoughts? as 99% works as expected, just 1 file?
