  1. Uh, I don't know that Spywareblaster and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware are the same kind of applications. I don't know that they do the same functions, so I have them both. I notice that since I installed SpywareBlaster, MAM hasn't found anything any more. I have it scan the computer once a month when I remember it! I want to ask one more question. I think the malwares mostly come from the net. If I clean the Temporary Internet Files regularly, does it help to protect my computer too?
  2. Sorry, too lazy to read all 19 pages! I used AVG in the past and find it good. Now I am using Avira and find it good too! Avira sometimes tells me a site has problems so that I stop going there again. And it scans the whole computer quite fast. (Why I always think what I am using is always better than the others?)
  3. I don't use IE very often. I have it on my computer for using Maxthon. And I know that it is related to Yahoo Messsenger too. I also have Firefox, but only use it for certain sites. My sister chooses IE and knows nothing about other browsers. She thinks it's the best! How funny! Dencorso, Why don't you use IE8 on XP?
  4. --> Predictor!!! --> Supervisor!I think I should stop here! Thanks all for replying.
  5. I don't know what I should say after reading the above posts. In fact, I was a reader of this forum for over a year before I decided to be a member. Reading many posts by many people here encouraged me to join the forum. I like the way people talk to each other and help one another, very patienly and very friendly. I thought I could do the same. How funny! Since I used the internet, I just like surfing and reading, and always avoid becoming a member. Not sure why I chose MSFN among many forums I've known. Do you think I have the answer now? OK, I'll say no more about this feeling! Jaclaz, I like your post. Very much. Especially this sentence: Good idea. But, I guess you didn't think I've saved some funny posts before asking the deletion!!!Anyway, I still hope Cluberti will remove the links I sent.
  6. I read your previous post many times and think a lot of this, "to alleviate strain on the database". So, I decided to have my miscellaneous topics removed. I'll send the links through a PM. Hopefully it won't take you much time to handle them. Frankly, I can't help laughing when I reread some old posts! I can't imagine why I could write such things! Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. OK, then they used to be members but no longer now. Got it. Thanks for the answer. Just one more issue, I would like some of my topics to be deleted. Is it possible, Cluberti?
  8. Sorry for posting here, but I don't want to make a new topic. I happen to see two Guest names when I click on my name today. Well, I rarely do this! One came on 8 May, and the other on 8 Aug. I search in the member list but there is no one by that name, Guest. Why is it so strange? PS. I change the topic. I hope everyone doesn't mind when I ask anything about the forum here. And I do notice that the number of members goes down again!
  9. Tripredacus, I have to fill the proxy in that settings manually. An add-on will automatically do that job for me, and I don't have to search for any proxies. My memory wasn't very good last night. In fact, the Hide IP I've got only worked on Firefox 1, I stopped using it when I began to use Firefox 2. I misremembered this add-on with Accessibar, which I stopped using since I used Firefox 3 because it only worked on FF2. How confusing! Not sure if you can understand what I've said. Two days ago, I read about "Using Firefox built-in about:config Tool", I tried it and both the above adds-on work with FF 3.5.7 although it says "Not compatible ..." It's interesting. I just don't like the popup. But now I decide to disable that add-on to avoid the popup. Anyway, I don't use Firefox as often as I use Maxthon or IE. And thanks for the information on Maxthon, Tripredacus. But among these: 1/ I use Maxthon. 2/ I use Maxthon, a shell for Internet Explorer, not a true browser. Which one do you think I prefer to use, dear?
  10. Joakim, Could you give a short explanation of that registry key? What is that "500" for?
  11. Ash98, Maybe there are too many applications are running when you shut down your computer. It needs time to stop those before turning off itself. It takes my computer around 15 sec to shut down. ------------------------------ Edit: correcting a grammar mistake!
  12. Cluberti, I am using Maxthon now and don't have to use that application. It is Hide IP platinum. It's a very old version which can't be found on the net these days, I think! I didn't use it since I began using Firefox 3. Hide IP only works on Firefox 2. I reinstalled it just yesterday, after I happened to read this: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-fix-broken-fir...th-new-version/ It works on Firefox 3.5.7 now! But I don't like that pop-up at all. I think someone here can help with the problem. Thanks both for replying. (It takes me a lot of time to choose the appropriate words for this post!) --------------------------- Edit again: the pop-up is not the same all the time. Usually it lists the pages where I'm surfing. The image above showed nothing because I just opened Firefox and changed the proxy, not going to any sites. --------------------------- Edit: Actually, I haven't used this add-on for a long time and can continue without it if there is no solution. I can use a web proxy to bypass some surfing restrictions but it has problems at times. Now, I wonder if anyone here uses Firefox with an add-on having the similar use. It would be nice if you suggest such adds-on so that I can have it as a replacement. Thanks again for any reply. --------------------------- Last edit: removing image.
  13. Sp0iLeDBrAt, Is it important to tell which application it is? I am not sure if I am allowed to discuss about it in detail. It helps me to go to some websites which I can't access without using a proxy.
  14. I installed an application to change the proxy, which I sometimes have to use! It works fine with IE and Maxthon. It was integrated into Firefox as an add-on too. However, every time I change the proxy while using Firefox, a window of the Library will pop up! I have to close it manually. It's a little annoying. Is there a way to stop this? If it is in the Options of Firefox, which properties (or features???) should I change? Thanks in advance for any answers and help.
  15. Well, I decide to use Avira only. The full scan last night said there were 4 bad files and I let MSE remove it. Then I removed MSE too. Having 2 AV programs is not necessary, is it? I think Avira is good enough for my computer. Thanks Cluberti for the comparison. As for the annoying popups while Avira's updating, I am lucky to find this interesting topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/couple-avira-per...ks-t137768.html Avira works nice on my computer now, no splash and no popups to care about!
  16. OK, I've just installed it and I have it scan my computer now. I think its full scanning is not as fast as that of Avira. And, it's strange that they are both running now without any problems!
  17. What about comparing it to Avira Personal Free? Does it work better? Has anyone tried using it and Avira at the same time? I would like to try it too if there are more positive comments. Thanks.
  18. Cluberti, Thanks for replying. I understand it now. I'd like to keep my account here, but sometimes it's hard for me to write a post. I mean, I have no problems to ask for help, and I don't know much to help the others. Then, not sure what I should talk about! But because the pruning is: I feel completely safe now!
  19. Hi Zxian and Tain, Thanks for the info. Then this pruning is for good. It's very fine. Browsing here is faster than browsing on other forums I know. So, I don't notice the faster surfing at all! I guess I'll have to come and write posts from time to time to maintain my account. And now: We have 81170 registered members The number is still growing up quite fast.
  20. In another forum saying in my own language, everyone there simply calls it USB! Yeah, USB only! And we all know what we are talking about. I'll choose to call it "pen drive" if I have to talk about it here.
  21. I remember seeing the number bigger than that, around 110000 or so. Do my eyes have problems? If not, then I'm curious of the missing members. Where are they? They have left the forum? Or maybe it's the cleaning up of the forum sometimes? I think this question is not important to care about. But I really want to know about the forum as much as possible. Thanks in advance for any reply.
  22. Eksasol, Thanks for the no splash hint. It didn't work for me at first. I had to delete " /min" before adding "/ns" then it worked fine. Snooz, I tried to block ads popups by following your guide too. I will tell about it tomorrow because I've already let it update today. Surely it will work, huh? So, thank you for posting the tricks. I need the first one only! ‹Edit /› It works perfect! I don't know that we can totally get rid of this small annoyance. Thank you both again for the tricks of no popups and no splash. I'll pass it to my sister too.
  23. I've used SP3 for over a year or so, and I like it too. It works good and stable. I had a problem when I first had it on my computer. People here helped me with it and done! I don't have a chance to ask about any problems any more, since then!
  24. Vishal Gupta, Can you make your themes with colors like Lavender and Taupe on this one: http://leosss.deviantart.com/art/Windows-7...-v1-5-122989365 Those two colors are so beautiful! And thanks for making SevenVG Blue, it's very nice. I've tried the black one too but decided not to have it after that! It's too dark for me. It'll be great if you have time to make new different color themes.
  25. OK, I found it in "Windows 7 Blue Sky Edition for XP SP3" last night. Luckily, this pack is not an installer and it contains some seperate files which I can choose to replace. I tried some of them and know it is "netshell.dll". I've got the icon I want now.
